The food here is okay, nothing special. Service is always very friendly and it has a great romantic atmosphere, but it just isn't enough to get us raving. We had the steak and the potato crusted salmon. Steak was cooked nicely but the vegetables were...bland and the risotto was overcooked. Salmon was also cooked well but found the crust to be quite dry, and again the risotto wasn't great. We would be willing to try this restaurant again in the future but we will stick with their pizzas.More

This restaurant has great potential. They are doing all the right things. The atmosphere is upscale but at the same time relaxed and cozy. The service and food quality were good. Your palate will dictate how you do here. The food was all very good...but none of the dishes I would have expected to had bold flavors. If you prefer excellent food with more subtle flavors this is your place. It’s situated in a spot where the view would be exceptional if there was something to look at, so a window seat here isn’t as important as some places. SO D E L I C I O U S ! So cosy ! We just love THE NEST ! Yummy 😋! Again, we enjoyed a gastronomic moment in this beautiful perfect place for a romantic evening. We regularly come from Europe to visit Beautiful...British Columbia and our Canadian family and each time we enjoyed the atmosphere and the food in this wonderful restaurant ! It’s also a great place to go out with our family and our friends. The Chef, is a real Chef and his creativity is just great ! His wife Jen is so kind and efficient, always a smile on her face, even with the mask you can see the smile in her eyes;-) Jen and the whole team always gave us a warm welcome. Make sure you make a reservation, as this popular restaurant fills ups fast! And after dining here I can see why! The service is friendly and efficient and and food is fabulous! The menu has lots to choose from...the crispy squid is delicious and there...is a wide variety of pasta dishes, The cod dish was yummy and the flat iron steak was really good. The food presentation was lovely and we could hear other diners around us exclaiming about how good their meal was. We wished we had room for dessert because the tiramisu looked amazing and the diners eating it were obviously loving it! If you want a fabulous meal in a cute little restaurant, with friendly servers and a great menu, make sure you have dinner at The Nest!More

We often go here for special occasions, its cozy, intimate, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. I would highly recommend The Nest Bistro. Very accommodating.

A little gem in Nanaimo. They have created a lovely romantic outdoor patio space with grape vine trellis and fountain. We went two times and both times the staff were fantastic. They gave great advice on the menus. Our favourites where the arugula Caesar salad,...crispy squid (best I have ever had), margarita pizza, spaghetti with prawns, the cod main course and the cherry cheese cake.More

Arrived a little late for our 7:00 pm reservation (it was 7:08 as I looked so I knew how late we were even though we had called to say we had a taxi mix up and would be late) and was told our table was...ready on the patio. We took ourselves, a table of 4 looking to celebrate a birthday after months of being cooped up during CoVid, to our table and sat down. The menus were on the table and we sat and waited anxiously for our evening to begin. There were 3 other tables on the patio. 2 different servers came in and out many times to take orders, deliver drinks, take payment etc. Not once did either of them acknowledge us with a hello, be right with you NOTHING. Finally at 7:35 we got up and left. We were very disappointed. The restaurant then called to say that they had been dealing with a situation and tried to say you arrived at 7:15 and it was only 7:30 and so on. This of course wasn’t the correct times as I said I checked before and after. Anyhow even if it was only 15 minutes and even if there had been a “situation” not even being acknowledged is just not acceptable service. Now we were stuck with no vehicle, no dinner reservations on a lovely Saturday evening and hungry!!More

Not what we expected Food just ok Service a little arrogant I’m pretty easy to please and I don’t mind paying for good food But personally after two tries we were not impressed Old salad and burnt pizza good flavours though but not stellar

This restaurant is on a hill and has a nice lower section that has an elevated view over some trees. I ordered the Flat Iron Steak With Scalloped Potatoes And Roasted Vegetables. The Steak looked a bit grey, but it was cooked “medium”, exactly as...ordered. While it was tender, the Steak completely lacked any flavour whatsoever. There was absolutely no seasoning, so the taste was very bland. The Demi glaze that accompanied it was also almost completely flavourless, so it didn’t do anything to enhance the flavour of the Steak. I have had just as tasteless Steaks in average diners, for 1/2 the price. The Scalloped Potatoes were quite good. I enjoyed them. The Vegetables were slightly over cooked and not as firm as I like. The service was excellent, as the server was very friendly, accommodating, attentive, efficient and sincere.More

Covid challenges the Traveller in many ways and finding a good restaurant with an available table is tough. I had called ahead weeks ahead to be sure of dinner that night. The hotel restaurant was closed so I knew it might be tough getting dinner...if I left it to chance. The Nest is well reviewed here on TA and looked near enough to stroll to once we’d checked in. It isn’t exactly on the main road and we passed a few other eateries that had been recommended. They looked busy and some had lines waiting along the street as people were socially distanced. The Nest was at the top of a rise and set back off the road, not somewhere you’d notice right away. I am so glad we had booked. It is lovely inside. There is a covered terrace/patio out back with a beautiful outlook for sunset. The small dining room had very few tables set up and spaced well apart. Everything about service had been thought through and we felt very well looked after and safe. Danielle, we could see was full of smiles wearing her well designed face shield, and was a cheerful and attentive server. She helped us choose from the very reduced, but carefully selected menu, a delicious locally sourced and house cooked meal. The mushroom risotto was in a white truffle sauce and came with a side of roasted vegetables, delightfully paired with a La Cremant Bourgogne, and finished off with a chocolate volcano and home made ice cream. Highly recommend this place ....food deserts and service excellent...don’t pass this place up ....will be back again

We had a fabulous dinner at Nest last night. Danielle looked after us with a very big smile and great service. The appies and dinner were 5 stars. We would highly recommend it.
