Lunch was enjoyable here. Casual atmosphere in a, short of a farm setting with open spaces and fresh air. Food was good. although the service was great but dishes were kind of slow to come to the table.
Pub has great atmosphere but very busy. No reservations taken and when arrived we found out why.
We were told to wait in the car. Not possible we said so we were sat in front of the fire to wait.
No bar service!
Waitress...finally acknowledged us and asked if we wanted a drink?
Yes we do.
Got to a table which was nice 15 minutes later.
Short menu. Little selection.
British pub but no Fish and chips. Actually no chips at all.
I had a scotch egg with roast spuds.
Greek chicken soup was good.
Food was good.More
The entrance is quaint, the gate, the arbor really nice. It was a hussling place with great ambiance. My sister and I ordered a sandwich each. After an hour and a 15 minutes we had to ask if our lunch was coming. Obviously our server...had forgotten to hang up our order since she didn’t emerge again until she finally brought our food to the table. The salmon chowder and oyster stew was delicious as was our sandwiches but put off by the fact she didn’t acknowledge the wait time. It is an out of the way place and was really nice otherwise. I suggest if you don’t get your food in half an hour you might have to ask if it’s being made. Sad to make such a mediocre review.More
Fantastic little old english pub. The food is awesome and the prices are great. I was actually shocked at how cheap the food was. I've been a couple of times now and each time I've been happy with the food and have been treated really...well by staff. Would highly recommend and I will be back.More
Been numerous times, and the food is always excellent. Consistent, great quality pub fare that hits the spot every time. Trips are now planned around going here if it's ever en route (and sometimes even if it's not!).
Amazing food, atmosphere and excellent service. Even though the place was extremely busy we received excellent, friendly service. Right from entrance to exit we were made to feel welcome. Will be our regular stop for dinner on trips to the island.
This has become a place to stop with my family while traveling up and down the island (usually returning from an outdoor adventure).
We stopped just before Christmas, when we had excellent Christmas pudding (as their seasonal dessert), great beer, and delicious food. The salad...dressing on their green salad is amazing, the beef dip was stacked high, and the potato salad hit the spot.
The staff was friendly and everything was brought out efficiently (which was great because we were super hungry). I love the old wooden booths, low ceilings and fire-place which give it a cozy feeling in the winter.
Stop by when you are travelling next. I wish this could be my neighbourhood pub.More
Entrance is not that accessible. Staff is rude and VERY transphobic. Nothing like hearing them gossip behind the bar. Not one proper pronoun the entire time. My guess is they would treat anyone in the LGBTQIA2S+ community poorly.
Food isn't British really. It is just...pub food.
I recommend skipping anywhere that embraces this nonsense.More
