To continue my March birthday celebration, a friend took me and my sister for a meal at the Polish Bistro. After parking the car, we walked a very short distance to the restaurant. Upon entry, we were seated immediately at a table by the window. After studying the menu, we decided to order the perogies with cabbage rolls and a salad. Our mutual friend added a sausage to her meal. Our food was brought to our table within a short period of time. Every bite was delicious! My sister and I enjoyed our meal. We tried a bit of the sausage and decided right away that we would order this add-on the next time we visit this eatery. This restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere with many live plants placed around the premises. The owner waited on us and provided a great explanation to answer our question about the “lazy cabbage roll”. If you like Polish food, this restaurant is a must to go to!! After this great meal, we went to Wouda’s Bakery where we selected several treats: I chose a tiramisu and a date square, my sister a Turtle Cheese Cake and also a tiramisu while our friend selected a sugar cookie with tiramisu also. We sat at a table in front of the Bakery and enjoyed these treats before heading home.

I have not eaten here since they moved. We used to eat at this restaurant all the time when they were in Thunder Bay. We were so sad when they moved to BC. Their food is SO GOOD. Especially the mushroom crepes! I moved to the USA about a year after they left town, so I'd have missed it either way.
I cannot tell you how often I think about this restaurant though. We grew up eating Polish food and I used to get Polish food around town anywhere I could, especially if there was barszcz (borscht). You can get pierogis in quite a few places but the ones at this restaurant were just amazing. Their salad has a really simple dressing and yet is also amazing.
Everything was always cooked to perfection. It didn't matter when we went, what we ordered, everything was perfect.
I would bring friends here who had never had Polish food, and then my then fiancé and he now loves Polish food thanks to this place.
I have to make my own now that I don't have this place to fall back onto.
If you love Polish food, give this place a shot. I doubt you'll be disappointed. If you haven't had it before, look up the types of things on the menu to see what they are.
For example. cabbage rolls are meant to be soft. They are cooked cabbage wrapped around a mixture of beef, rice, seasonings and some people add some tomato sauce inside them as well as on top. But they're delicious!
The man was always sweet and polite when taking our order and bringing our food, or getting more drinks, packing up stuff we got to go.
This is some of the best food around, I would recommend giving it a try.

This was my second visit to the Polish Bistro and I was once again highly pleased with their tasty traditional Polish cuisine and friendly service. As an added bonus, the portions here are generous and well-priced. I highly recommend the borscht, the sauerkraut salad, and the perogies (especially the potato+ dill and bacon+sauerkraut flavours).

If you are not in a hurry-or maybe if you don't mind one person eating while the two others wait, this is 'reasonable' service. Friendly, polite, nice surroundings/clean, but service is s l o w . I would never order the cabbage rolls as there appeared to be no cabbage-just sort of 'mushy' scoop of pork? hamburger? and rice that was also mashed? with a bland tomato sauce on it. The perogies and the borscht were fantastic.

The Polish Bistro took us back with flavors and charm, reminding us of our favorite Winnipeg restaurant Alycia’s. Polish Bistro is a must go place while in Penticton, we will be back. The schnitzel and mushroom gravy was so delicious along with cheddar perogies and their lazy cabbage rolls. We were full but wanted more, taking home borscht to try later. We absolutely loved everything!

This is my first ever review of a restaurant and I have travelled a bit and dined out alot! The three of us covered most things on the menu and everything was outstanding! As soon as we walked through the door we were hit with the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen and greeted warmly by a gentleman who we assumed was the owner(Walter?). Really feels like a family run restaurant with the recipes perfected over the generations. We are visitors to Penticton but will be sure to return here EVERY chance we are in the area! Keep up the great job!!

We are living outside Poland for many years so finding this bistro that far away was quite a surprise. We ordered several dishes including soup, pierogi and breaded "schabowy" cutlet. Everything was delicious. Very nice owner being a waiter was additional bonus.

As my wife, granddaughter and I walked into the restaurant we noticed the decor made you feel you were eating outside on a European patio. Many of the customers were enjoying a beer, while waiting for the food they ordered.
In conversation with our server, he said prior to opening in Penticton they came from Thunder Bay. He said the pierogies are steamed not boiled and the schnitzel is baked Austrian style
My wife and I both had the beet borsch soup. It was tasty.
Our granddaughter had the platter of 10 cheddar cheese pierogies. She did not realize how big they were so 5 of them came home in a "doggy bag"
We had the lunch platter. It consist of one cabbage roll, one meatball, 5 different pierogies (cheddar cheese, beef, saurkraut and bacon, spinach/tomato/feta, pork).
Our tastebuds came from Alberta so we like the sour cabbage rolls Ukranian style and beef. This means we were not fond of the pork pierogi, pork meatball, and pork style cabbage roll.
Many of the clients had schnitzel.

My friend ordered individual items and thoroughly enjoyed everything particularly the Polish sausage. I ordered the schnitzel with pirogies and salad. It was very good bit next time I will go with the sausage. Although we didn't see any wine or beer on the menu, the waiter indicated that they had both wine and beer. I ordered the Polish lager and my friend ordered the 6 oz house wine. A bit pricey 7.50 and 6.00 respectively.
The waiter indicated that they had dessert - similar to cheesecake but a bit different. It's hard to resist cheesecake so we ordered one and shared. It didn't resemble cheesecake to us and perhaps calling it cheesecake is misleading. It was cake with cherries on top -- good but not cheesecake!
The premises were very clean and spacious. The waiter was charming and helpful. We will return!

I am using the latest review to let our customers know that Polish Bistro will be reopening at the beginning of June. We have a close relative unwell and we need to take of her. We will be back stronger and more delicious than EVER.

Great spot for fabulous pierogis! .
Really enjoyed the upscale atmosphere, personable owner, reasonable prices and the best most creative pierogis we have ever had. So much filling (5 kinds!) and thin dough. Would definitely recommend!

This was the best meal I’ve had in a long time. The perogies were perfect - just the right dough consistency with ample filling. We loved the potato and dill best. The borscht was delicious and the schnitzel and sausage were amazing. If we lived here, we would eat here regularly. When in Penticton, you’ve got to eat here!

Cold and wintry nights call for a beautiful Polish remedy… homemade, from scratch and authentic cuisine. Coming from the Baltic seaside town of Gdańsk Walter and Alicja bring a lovely piece of Poland to the stunning Okanagan. Polish Bistro is charming, inviting and a foodie heaven! Featuring savoury borscht, artisanal sausage, handmade pierogies and cabbage rolls and crispy schnitzel- it reminds me of some of the best places in Toronto, NYC and my European travels.
Schnitzel tops any Germanic restaurants I’ve been to (Post Hotel, Waldhaus, Bavarian Inn, Old Baurenhaus) 🏆🍽🍺🥟🧆 🇵🇱

We managed lunch at this centrally located, very clean and well organized bistro. Very busy on a Saturday..interestingly a number of the tables occupied by Polish folks from eg Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver touring through the Okanagan. Prices very resonable - schnitzel for $9, generous borsht soup for under $5. You can have a combo meal or created your own with Polish specialties. Excellent service from owner...place is neat and very clean.

Polish Bistro is a gem. Authentic, home cooking with flair, made with commitment and a love of the cuisine.
Easily the best meal we had in our week in the OK.
Everything is made in house, everything we had was delicious.
Perogies, cabbage rolls, sausage as good as I’ve ever had.
Service friendly, wine ok.
Did I mention the price? Where we usually spend $100 for dinner for two, this came in at $50. $25 each! They need to bump up their prices. They are working too hard and doing too well not to.
Get there before it happens. Delicious.

Delicious meal in a clean, friendly restaurant. The Polish sausages, pierogies, sauerkraut, cabbage rolls & meat balls are amazing. Wild blueberry pierogies for dessert are an experience not to be missed.
Interesting murals decorate the walls & the host/waiter is “awesome.”
If we return to Penticton, we’ll certainly eat here again.
