Great food, service and atmosphere

We loved our dinner out at La Casa Ouzeria. I knew I wanted the true Greek experience and was recommended this place by the staff at the Penticton visitor centre. Our daughters, 6 and 8, both loved their meals and thought our server was kind, nice and funny. The best souvlaki I’ve had in a long time. Good wine selection, My husband had the braised lamb shank as recommended by the server and it was so tender and flavourful. We will for sure be back the next time we visit beautiful Penticton. The service made the experience particularly special.

Nice meal with gluten free options.

Great food, selection of local wines, friendly and efficient staff. Good options for gluten free dining and they are attentive to those modifications to make the meal enjoyable. Book a reservation during weekends and high season as it gets busy. Can get a bit loud which adds to the atmosphere. Dine a little later and the place is quiet.

Reservations had to be made online & you were required to create an account. We were seated promptly upon arrival & both food & drinks arrived quickly. Server was great. The Italian house wine was a huge hit! I had a Greek entree while my friend hadn't Italian one. Seems the Italian dish was enjoyed more. Price point was quite steep for not including salads or breads. Desert was good.

Great Food - TOO DARN NOISY

This is our favorite restaurant in Penticton but they kind of missed the mark this year. The food was wonderful and has never disappointed us. Year after year, it's been great. Our server was diligent and attentive but even so it took almost an hour from when our order was placed until we were served. That was way too long between finishing our drinks and eating. The BIG COMPLAINT was the noise level. There is no acoustic dampening so voices echo and they had some awful music on too loud. Assuming you like your dinner companion it's nice to have a conversation.

Started off on the wrong foot, only ones there waiting, were ignored by all staff for over ten minutes, one waiter said someone will be right with you, nearly ten minutes later someone did seat us. Slow service, it wasn't packed. The food was just ok quality wise with small-ish portions. Given the price point though, as an example, $28 chicken souvlaki that included one skewer, no greek salad and no pita? Waitress told us we could sub greek salad for seasonal veg (zuchini and carrot), ok, but the $4 upcharge was a bit of a surprise. What really caught us off guard, we asked for an extra chicken skewer - $20. This was a big, spendy surprise. The restaurant itself / atmosphere was nice & the server was pleasant so no issues there.

Delicious and amazing service

Excellent food and wine. Our server Jodi was amazing, very cheerful and very attentive. We had the daily special of lamb leg, the moussaka and the Greek ribs, great portion sizes and beautifully seasoned. We will be back for sure!

Great Visit to Ouzaria

We've enjoyed dinners at the Ouzaria on many occasions, birthdays, anniversaries and simply Friday get together. These guys never fail to impress...food is always fresh, you're always greeted with a smile and friendly welcome. Above all, they have staff that is really good at what they do and last night was no exception. Our server Jessica was attentive, funny and most importantly, willing to engage in conversation. She was absolutley stellar. Ouzaria is lucky to have her and should make sure she doesn't go anywhere. The competition for staff in Penticton is unbelievable right now and going into a very busy summer season, they should ensure they do whatever it takes to retain assets like Jessica. Cheers to all and we will certainly be back! -Aldo

Thought our meal was overpriced for what was delivered. Charged almost $8.00 for iced tea, okay my husband was offered a second glass but not indicated on the menu that it would involve another full charge. $20.00 for an appetizer of kalamari seems excessive, garlic prawns were not prawns at all but farm-raised shrimp and not even large ones at that and only a small amount. Service was good, but all in all dinner was not worth the $100.00 spent. Sorry but I want more bang for my buck.

We pride ourselves on using Selva 16/20 black tiger prawns, not shrimp. Selva® are raised without feed or chemicals. Everything our prawns need to grow is provided by the mangrove forest. As the mangrove ecosystem provides everything the Selva® need, they are raised without any artificial feeds. Selva® is certified according to the most stringent environmental standards and is recommended by Ocean Wise® as a sustainable seafood choice. Partnering with small-scale farmers is a win-win. Our farmers are attentive ambassadors of the mangrove forests and ensure healthy and happy prawns. In return, the farmers receive better payment for the high quality and sustainably farmed prawns. A great place for celebration

We took our brother for a late birthday celebration. We asked him where he wanted to go and he said this was his favourite spot that his boss is taking him there for the Christmas celebrations. The meal was fantastic. The service was great. The waiters were great. Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant.

A day at the wineries

The food is amazing. Our server’s suggestion to get the Uvetsi (prawns with baked feta and tomato sauce) was beyond amazing. Berry made us laugh and gave us an amazing dining experience to remember. We will definitely be back and will book Berry as our server and friend. Thanks for the great food and experience. ❤️

So busy service was lacking

While we understand that many restaurants are having difficulties finding enough staff to serve their clientele...there should be a recognition that poor service is still a defining moment when eating out. We know of other restaurants that are limiting capacity and this should be the case here. While our order was taken and food delivered in a timely manner, we had to request water time and time again...As to the bill, a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but when we were asked if we wanted to linger or have the bill, we asked for the bill. Waited, waited, waited and got more frustrated by the minute. If we had known the total cost, we'd have put the $'s on the table and departed. And to see the lineup of people waiting to be seated, could only think they'd have been better off heading somewhere else.

Great dining experience with wonderful service. Had lamb souvlaki and wife had the veggie platter. More than enough food. Had Ekmek for dessert which I recommend highly. Ekmek is a custard like dessert topped with cinnamon and pistachios. Dinner for two with dessert was 75 Can$.

A wonderful meal :a top take out pick

Our dine around town during Covid 19 had us sample a great take out meal from La Casa. Our order was prepared quickly and the pick up was so easy and we loved the packaging, not styrofoam. We had 2 orders of kababs; lamb and beef and they were cooked perfectly. Rice and fresh veggies with roast potatoes, just delicious. Moussaka was wonderful and we had an appetizer of calamari which was super tastie. All portions were ample and as we ate our meal listening to Greek music; our daughter said we should plan an impromptu trip to Greece. Sadly that won't be happening given the current circumstances, but our evening enjoying La Casa's food gave us one part of a great Greek style evening.

Absolutely awful!

We ordered $200 of take out meals for a special occasion. We all were extremely disappointed with the quality of food. All the meat was well over done and almost charred. The potatoes were burnt too and the calamari was rubbery and over seasoned. As for the famous moussaka..it is famous for the small portion, having extremely thin sliced vegetables lots of potato and a very thin layer of blah tasting bechemel sauce . The most awful moussaka I have ever eaten. This place has gone downhill ! It seems they only care about throwing food out on plates no matter if if is not up to restaurant standards. We all assumed that with COVID the food would be amazing cause there is less seating,boy were we all wrong!. We all will NEVER eat here again!!!.

Good Morning whisk bandit, as we previously responded to Rolf about your families takeout meal. We are truly disheartened that this is the first we get to hear about your displeasure. No phone call to tell us what the issues were, no opportunity to correct a situation, no chance of both parties being satisfied. We have attempted to call your party 3 times to discuss this and have been unable to get anyone to call us back. I will admit in the last 25 years this is the first time we have been accused of being famous for small portions, 60% of our reviews mention either the surprisingly large portions, or having to take some home as they could not finish. We do apologize that your party was not happy with your order that evening. We would have jumped at any chance to make sure your were 100% satisfied like we have done for the past 25 years.
