We are from N.C. Came here for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We did not make reservations, but the host at the desk worked it out for us to have a table with the cook. It was fantastic. The cook was so friendly and concerned...with how we wanted our food also made sure everything was perfect. Nitin B was so great, he got all of our orders correct. Drinks came out quickly. He was so friendly, talked with us also made us all feel so welcome. I would highly recommend Shogun at The Coast Prince George Hotel. We had a wonderful time. We considered trying the teppanyaki but the restaurant was fully booked for the evening. So, we chose to order from the menu. Our server, Nitin, checked on us a few times and attentively suggested our food. We ordered some sushi rolls, a donburi, a gyoza,...and an assorted tempura. The tempura was made really outstanding, very crunchy and presentable. We also liked the sirloin and chicken donburi, the portion was huge and the sauce was plenty. The gyoza was my daughter's favorite. I found Nitin paying a lot of attention to the customers. He tried his very best to accommodate our needs. I asked for Frozen Paddle's ice cream, and although the restaurant was no longer serving it, he offered to give me some mango ice cream to satisfy my craving. All in all, I found Shogun a pleasant place to enjoy a night out. If you could get a table by the teppanyaki grill, you should. The chef's amazing teppanyaki skill is certainly something to entertain you while eating. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Prince George.More

Be ready for an experience. The chef Carlito was great at entertaining and our kids were amazed. “The best steak ever” was their review. Our servers Jasmine and Nitiu we conscientious and quick with drink orders. Overall it was a great family experience. My one...wish is that Shogun would drop the masking for chefs it inhibits the social connection which is such a big component of this experience and frankly the chefs look so hot working over the grill. Wonderful tepanyaki. I took family, including my sister in law, niece and nephews, mom, brother, his gf, and my roommate. The food was fresh and delicious and the fire was enjoyed by the little ones. We have enjoyed many evenings at the Shogun in the past and decided to treat ourselves to a 50th anniversary dinner there. We booked for two at a small teppan table for 8 maximum in the back room. We have always enjoyed the banter with...the chefs and found the other quests we've shared with to have some respect for their fellow diners. Tonight was a huge disappointment. We started out with two other couples and struck up a conversation with one. The other moved to a private table. Shortly after they left another couple took their place and although they were a bit loud We ere content to visit with our new acquaintances while waiting for the chef. Soon a third person joined them. He was very loud and the volume of both men in that group climbed to the point where conversation with our neighbours was hard to follow over the din. The swearing increased and even after my wife spoke to our server nothing was done to control this trio. Having bragged about the amount they had drunk before coming I thought there might be some control put on there consumption but they continued to order and consume while dominating the venue while kibitzing with the chef. We could not listen to the profanity longer and left with our final course of vegetables in a to go box. We voiced our concerns to the waiter and the woman at the door as we were paying. They charged us full price although they did give us an Inn of the North gift certificate for part of the value. On our way out we stopped to talk to the hotel food and beverage manager at the front desk of the hotel. We could clearly hear the rowdy bunch in the back room of the restaurant from the lobby. The Shogun is all about the experience. Similar fare can be purchased in several restaurants in Prince George and some are, in my opinion, more creatively prepared. We were sorry to have our anniversary meal leave a bad taste in our mouths. We will probably not be returning to the shogun. We like a bit of fun and certainly have, in our time, participated in some raucous events. Even when under the influence some measure of control and respect for others was maintained. I fault the Shogun staff for allowing this to get beyond good natured fun and would question their commitment to serving it right.More
