I came in for a very specific request; a local German pastry very few people have ever heard about. As expected, the owner and chief pastry chef had never heard about it. But they were very intrigued and went over the top to try to meet my needs. With the help of Google, I showed them what I was looking... More

After a pretty bad falafel experience at Nuba Cafe on East 3rd Avenue, I walked across the street to check out Swiss Bakery which I've read about on the internet. I wasn't in the mood for really sweet pastries so I bought a cheese scone and a cheese croissant. They are both larger in size than most bakeries and are... More

Have just had coffee and sweets, although they do have lunches as well. Everything I have had has been good.

It's called Frisant but known as Cronut... it doesn't matter as long as it's delicious! You can have Baby Frisants, so you don't need to miss the other type. Classic Vanilla and Apple Rhubarb... both amazing! Sweet bakery.

It was not a dining experience really. I picked up some chocolate chip cookies and an apple fritter. The apple fritter was so fresh that it almost melted in my mouth.

Okay drove past this bakery....and the awning looks old school but something pulled us in and it isn't old school at all. Small interior but communal but most importantly are the baked goods! A huge selection of real baguettes, jelly donunts, pastries, other breads...PRETZELS go very fast...and great coffee and tea served...It is priced well and the baked items creative... More

I go to the Swiss Bakery because it's close by. I have a guilty pleasure there and it is the chicken sausage roll. It's quite spicy, freshly made, and satisfying. They have lots of pastries, fresh bread, and those weird "Kronut" things that everyone seems to be asking for these days. Just a note - they have a dollar limit... More

The Frissants are absolutely delicious, with the S'mores flavoured one being my favourite. They do sell out sometimes in the evening so go a bit earlier if you can.

We were driving by and Dr. H asked me to go around the block and stop at the bakery that he had just spied. We had just finished a birthday lunch for second son at "Call Luigi" ( see the review ) but the bakery beckoned. What a surprise. I ordered a bag of plain and chocolate croissants, Danish pastries,... More

Splurge on a Croissant -Fritter hybrid. Flaky heaven. But if you don't visit early enough in the day they often sell out. I also love their pretzels, pretzel buns, and breads.

Staying in Southeast False Creek

Neighbourhood Profile
Southeast False Creek
Developed alongside the Vancouver Olympic Village for the 2010 Winter Games, a past fraught with hardship has recently been overcome, and builders are changing the landscape on the ground of Southeast False Creek at a rapid pace. With waterfront dining, ultra-modern facilities, sports stadiums, and a load of greenery, parks, and rest spots built into the ever-changing infrastructure, it's a fast-paced and mutable spot to see Vancouver taking shape and making history. It is especially popular for the casual sportsman, as the Seawall on the water makes for one of the most scenic locations for cycling or roller-blading, jogging or strolling.
