We stayed at the Moda Hotel and treated ourselves to dinner at the Cibo Trattoria with just an elevator commute! The atmosphere was lively, but relaxing. We ordered the red house wine, fried small artichokes with arugula and feta cheese, grilled octopus with cannellini beans...in tomato sauce, seared tuna, and two pasta dishes, the rigatoni and carbonara. About $200 in total for two, but we were satisfied with every sip and bite. A special thank you to servers George and Jason for the excellent service at a busy hour. They never hovered, but were efficient, attentive, and genuinely friendly.More

The food was amazing. The chef spent time with us and what an interested person. Jordan our waiter was one of the best we have experienced. I just can’t say how good our evening turned out to be!!!! We have rebooked for our next evenings...meal. I am hoping we have a chance to try everything they have on their menu!!!More

We are staying at the Moda Hotel which opens directly into the restaurant. Sunday evening, 6.15pm…the restaurant was almost empty and we asked to be seated, no reservation. The maître’d told us they were booked for the evening despite the fact that only 1 table...was occupied. There was an “event” planned. So we wandered around eventually selecting another restaurant. We came back an hour later expecting the restaurant to be filled with people enjoying a night out….but the silence was deafening. Still not a soul to be seen except the same maitre’d and a server chatting away. At first I was just annoyed and then returned to tell him that I thought their treatment of us was really rude and bordered on being untruthful. If they really had an event planned, we could have easily come back a little later or even agreed to cut our meal a little short since we didn’t have a table booked. He had no problem explaining away his treatment of us, offered an insincere apology for the “misunderstanding”. Stay away is my recommendation…the customer at the door has little value when compared to the potential of an “event”.More

Perfect date night spot: quiet, elegant room with fireplace and candlelight. The food was innovative (kumquats in the duck sauce, chorizo with the cod) and delicious. We chose the flight of wines, which allowed us to taste a range of offerings from the wine list...at a reasonable price. Our server Philippe was warm and engaging, yet respectful of our privacy. Overall a delightful place to spend an evening.More

Just returned from a group brunch Jan. 23/22. It took 1 1/2 hrs. to get our food after ordering it. We were the only 2 tables in there! No drip coffee at all, so you are paying $3.50 for each lukewarm cup. That's a way...to make extra revenue by making you wait so long. We refused to pay the 18% gratuity for a table of 6. We were told that the cook was pregnant and had Braxton Hicks....(not our problem). We had a reservation for over 2 weeks, so plan your staffing accordingly. One server for the entire restaurant and she was training *someone* else too? Didn't even see another person there.....food was lukewarm as was the coffee and the most basic....no dressing at all on the salad. No one was impressed in the least and no one will return. They did remove the 18% gratuity. Never again.More

After the rugby, we decided on italian, and called Cibo and they had availability for a table for 4. Very cute cozy place. The manager was great, very knowledgeable in wine and her menu. 2 ordered the lasagna, 1 order of Clams in white wine...and fresh pasta, and a special for the day, chicken scallopini, was fabulous!! We will go back next year, it was that good!More

My fiancé and I had such a fantastic time here before we went to a concert at the orpheum. It really complimented our whole evening. The food was phenomenal and adventurous. We had a couple appies which were awesome! and great portions. The prosciutto melon...was so fresh, and a great way to start the meal. I had the grilled fish, and I never even imagined that I would ever eat fish skin, but it was crispy and so flavourful without being overpowering, I LOVED IT!!!....the chickpeas were tender and popped in my mouth. The wine list was long and the waitress had tons of advice, and she was totally right!. The atmosphere was quiet and fancy, and set us up for a very romantic evening. Definitely will be returning to this little slice of Vancouver culture! Perfect pairing to any event, or just a date night on a Tuesday.More

As we were staying in the adjacent Moda hotel, it seemed logical to try this place and so glad we did as we enjoyed a classy Italian meal in a smart and charming environment. Our mackerel starter was absolutely superb and the pasta mains and...dessert were almost equally good. Service was first-class, particularly as it was quite busy. Not cheap, but then you get what you pay for. We also had a very good breakfast here one morning.More

We were staying at the hotel adjacent. We looked at the menu and the decor and thought why not!! We started with the salad & the meatballs & a fabulous wine from Monterey. We then had the rib eye and the scampi with a beautiful...Italian Red recommended by the waiter. Dessert was divine with panacotta & a sauterne and I had the chocolate nemesis & a red dessert wine. Beautiful atmosphere and attentive service.More

This charming local Vancouver Italian restaurant got some nice TripAdvisor reviews but that wasn't our experience. The service was friendly and efficient. Ice tea, bread (except at request and extra expense) and salt and pepper were not available or only on request. One salt and...pepper set eventually was provide for 3 tables of about 27 guests. Mixed green salad was simple but good. Soup was mainly broth. The sole was OK to good. Gnocchi was tasteless. Wine seemed expensive. Flourless chocolate cake was fair. Custard-like dessert was good. No reason to hurry back.More
