Surprised by the lively and exciting atmosphere of this restaurant. Nigiri was quite good (not amazing) and we skipped the roles. High fives for the service-the team has been well trained and make you feel welcome. For the quality of our meal and our selection , I thought it was reasonably priced. Hurry up and open in Portland Or!

This was our first visit to Miku. My husband likes sushi, but I typically don't like it. On a recommendation from a friend, we went for lunch. I had the Salmon Oshi Sushi and the Garden Rolls. If I could those every day, I would. Such good flavour and the Oshi just melts in your mouth. My husband tried a... More

Whatever you do....you must have Miku on your foodie bucket list. My absolute favorite is the Salmon Oshi Sushi and Ebi Fritter, seriously delicious and so addictive...not your average Japanese restaurant (in a very very good way)

I went with a couple of friends and we found we were not so well received as we did not make a reservation though my friend eats there 3-4 times a week when in town. I could suggest other places that offer better food and even better service.

I always frequent my favorite sushi restaurants while in Vancouver, but with only a short window of opportunity to get a quick bite this evening, I had to go somewhere close to the hotel. I asked the concierge what he would recommend and he directed me to Miku. As many other visitors have noted, the service is very good. Servers... More

I'm a bit of a sushi fan and I've tasted some of the best in Japan. This place is different. While you can get your traditional sushi and sashimi, what you have to admire is the creativity of the chefs who have taken sushi making to another level. The Aburi Oshi Sushi, flame-seared very briefly, are absolutely delicious, particularly the... More

We made a reservation for four, requested a window seating. We did get what we requested. We were told if we ordered the tasting menu, we cannot order a different kind of tasting menu on the same table. Anyway, we don't know what to order and we were happy to try everything, so we ordered ourselves the Aburi Kaiseki. On... More

Description
We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish. Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize. It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
