We've been coming to Banana Leaf for years. This time was for my husband's birthday with the family and did not disappoint! A place like this is better to come with more people as can order lots and try everything - is very good. Service is always pleasant as is atmosphere.

Had dinner at the Banana Leaf restaurant at 3005 W Broadway on January 1, 2017 (one of the few restaurants opened on January 1!). We chose the 9 course combo for 3 people - very reasonably priced at $30/person. We also ordered sweet and sour soup to start. Food was plenty (4 appetizers, 4 entrees, and ice cream) and very... Ordered MeeGoreng and Rendang Beef to go. MeeGoreng was way to sweet and Meat/shrimp not fresh at all. The beef was probably the worst I have had, dry and tasted off. Very disappointing. Other locations much better.

Had lunch with my wife a few days ago and never regret driving some thirty miles to eat here. Were one of the first people in for lunch, but followed by many others looking for their fine cuisine! Had an appetizer of roti and some superb pork satay skewers with both being complimented by outstanding dipping sauces that were house-made and... More

Had the scallops in curry sauce which were very good. I was dining solo and felt that perhaps I was given a small very cramped table against a pillar when there were several other better tables for two available-noisy and hectic-I would prefer a quieter place when having a moderately priced meal.

Fairly decent menu and the food tastes great. This is enhanced by a good service crew - yes, you are not stuck with a single server; everyone wants to look after you. Don't forget to try pineapple rice (rice served in a pineapple shell).

I've dined here several times and it's always been a wonderful experience. Many Malaysian - Indonesian dishes from which to chose. It's Singapore or KL in Vancouver.

I went to Banana Leaf for the 2nd time last night. We were 11 people and our waitress was terrific (friendly, patient, helpful, efficient). The portions were big and price is reasonable, so there is good value for the meals. Most of what I tasted was good (but I was disappointed with the Gado-Gado, which was watery; also, my husband's... I can't compare to other Malaysian restaurants, as this was my first experience. Based on this visit, it won't be the last. Our food was very good as was the service. We ordered 3 dishes and shared: the Nasi Goreng Deluxe, Steamed Mussels (in a coconut broth), and the Caramelized Ginger Fish. All were satisfying, and the mussels came with... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
