We went here based on the reviews of the food but were cautiously optimistic about the service. We thought both were amazing the night we were here. We tried a 3 different house made cocktails and enjoyed all of them. My favourite dish was probably the brussel sprout salad but our soup, curry and pad Thai were all excellent as... More

My husband said the Thai lamb dish, massaman curry of braised lamb, he had at this place was the best of the trip (yes, Thai lamb!!). My seafood curry dish, southern style red curry of seafood, was also my most memorable. My son had 8 spice ling cod, which was fabulous! Excellent food and excellent service. Wish I had eaten... Many delicious starters and entrees. I especially liked the brussel sprout starter and the banana leaf salad. The seafood curry was also very good. The Pad Thai, usually not the best item on the menu, was excellent at Maenam.

The restaurant name is derived from the longest river in Thailand. The menu is not your standard Thai and the presentation is lovely. Great interesting tastes that range from mild to spicy. Definitely worth a visit. Friendly staff and well paced meal. This is not a big place and a reservation would seem appropriate.

We were disappointed. Great restaurants bring out the natural taste of the best ingredients. That is not the case with our dinner: The vegetables and fish were fried to such an extent that little natural taste was left. Perhaps to compensate for the lack of flavour, the meal was heavy with salt. Also, the prices are high (not the worst).... More

Loved this restaurant, it is small, busy, modern and has a very good vibe, the small bar area was jammed with locals. The staff are friendly, know the menu well and the service was great. The food is amazing. We were a party of three and we ordered the betal leaves with dungeness crab, I'd never heard of the leaves... More

Dinner reservation for 6 pm with my partner; it was her birthday. Server actually asked if we were celebrating anything, so we told her. We ordered cocktails, and the only negative aspect of the evening was the length of time it took for them to arrive. Twice while we were waiting, the server came by to take our order, but... More

Maenam has been a constant favourite of mine. I love going to wine a food shows where they are one of the restaurant partners because nothing from this place is bad. That said, the best thing by far in my opinion is the Betal Leaf appetizer. The flavours are so well balanced and you are guaranteed a mouth orgasm everytime.... More

I have not been to Thailand so I am not sure if this is authentic Thai or not but it is definitely not the usual Thai food that most Thai places serve. The place is small but elegant. We didn't have any problem with the service; we were served right away and the food arrived pretty quickly. We were there... More

This was kind of a mind-blowing dinner, beginning with the surprising cocktails and mocktails we had. Well thought-out dishes based on the Northern Thai canon of standards such as banana blossom salad, crispy rice salad, curries, but presented with twists and beautiful accents. Excellent warm service. I hope to return.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
