You can tell they reuse the oil many times because the strong old oil taste lingered in your mouth and I have to drink lots of water to kind of wash it out. The batter is so soggy and thick and there’s little fish in...it. At the end I tried to eat the pickle hoping it will help to cover the horrible after taste. This is the worst fish burger I’ve ever eaten in my life.More
On my last evening in Vancouver, my travelling companion suggested we visit again after being away for the past year. We decided to try happy hour without reservations. We were seated at a table of 4 in the centre with the possibility of my friend...Steeve joining us. We picked beers from the happy hour menu @$5. From the regular menu Claude ordered the burger and I chose the fish and chips. Very tasty! Will return next year on my visit. Sanam was our server. She was friendly and professional.More
My boyfriend and I had tickets to a concert we were really looking forward to going to. We live outside of the city and don't go into Vancouver but this was meant to be a special night for us to enjoy our first concert together...post covid. The wait staff was lovely, we have no complaints about them. What ruined our night was the manager. My boyfriend and I ordered the dragons breath wings and the meatballs to start and ordered a burger to share. The restaurant did not provide wetnaps or a finger bowl to clean our hands with after eating chicken wings so my boyfriend went to the washroom to wash his hands. While he was in the washroom the fire alarm in the restaurant went off. I will also add that I was still sitting at the table finishing my wings when the fire alarm went off and not a single member of the staff did anything when the fire alarm went off, the manager was standing right next to my table when it went off and she didn't say anything to myself or any of the other patrons in the restaurant. The fire department showed up and everyone continued as normal which was pretty concerning given that there could have been a potential emergency. Again my boyfriend was in the washroom when the fire alarm went off so he quickly washed his hands and came back upstairs to the table. Given that there didn't seem to be an emergency I then went to wash my own hands. I would like to point out at this point that I hold 2 bachelors degrees, one in criminology, and the second in forensic science. What the manager did next was so wrong on so many levels. While I was in the washroom the manager decided that because my boyfriend was the last person in the washroom he had been vaping in the washroom causing the fire alarm to go off and accused him of doing so. They asked for his ID and contact information which he mistakenly provided because he was trying to be cooperative. I have been with my boyfriend for 4 years, we've been dating since high school. My boyfriend does not vape. He does not own a vape. How can a person who doesn't have a vape, vape in a restaurant bathroom? Despite our incessant pleading of this fact the manager would not listen to a single word we said and continue repeating the same sentiment over and over again that she smelled vape in the bathroom, staff smelled vape in the bathroom and they saw vape clouds. I didn't see or smell any of this when I went to the washroom and I suspect that it was a case of confirmation bias impacting their view. The manager continued to complain about the fact that she'd have to write and incident report ( a part of her job as a MANAGER) and continuously implied that the owner would be in contact with my boyfriend to pay any sort of fine the fire department may issue. Again, they accused my boyfriend, a paying patron of the business, of doing something he did not do and were completely unwilling to consider any alternative hypotheses to the scenario. This is not at all how a proper investigation is conducted and is actually how people end up incarcerated for crimes they did not commit. Fire alarms can be faulty, people often smoke out the back of a restaurant, I know people who serve and it's not uncommon for waitstaff to vape in bathrooms (not accusing the waitstaff of doing such, just saying), also this is a restaurant where food is being cooked could it not have been the kitchen triggering the fire alarm! All of this is to say that the manager of Romer's not only ruined our meal but our entire night by embarrassing us in front of the entire restaurant for something that was literally impossible for my boyfriend to have done, she was rude, unapologetic and completely unwilling to listen to us at all. I would never return to this establishment for this very reason. P.S. I watched the bartender break a glass in the ice bin and not clean it up, be careful.More
Distracted service & burnt food? What’s not to love. Once our server finally arrived to take our order he stopped 1/2 thru to pull out his phone - read a message and reply. Really? Burger and crispy fish burger arrived burnt. Not sort of maybe...burnt but burnt. Of course no one came to ask “hows the meal?” Fries looks like they had be shredded into little stubs. Ridiculous food.More
Well, I been there twice and I'll never go back to this place. First the service very distracted. I asked for a hot sauce and they didn't bring absolute nothing. Second I found some hair in my burger, disgusting!! I waited for more than 20...minutes after I found the hair, because nobody from the staff ask how is the food or you if need something, literally horrible experience.More
Romers restaurant in the River District has a fabulous location but I would never recommend this restaurant Our walking group used to stop here for lunch but each time there would be a problem with one of our orders so we no longer go there...My friend organized a lunch there this week so I decided to give the restaurant another chance I ordered the chicken burger When it arrived the bun was so stale hard and cold I couldn’t cut my burger in half The bacon inside was also undercooked I mentioned the bun situation to our server to no avail I have talked to other friends who also say they don’t go to this restaurant anymore There are so many restaurants to chose with great burgers that there is no reason to go to Romers I will NEVER go back thereMore
Honestly such good service and the food is amazing, you should definitely check this place out!! The chefs are amazing and really great at what they do, Alyssa who works there is fantastic and would highly reccomend.
My son rates his burger a 5 and I’d rate my salad bowl a 3ish so we’ll end up at a four. I had a bite of the burger, was pretty darn good. And they had lots of options for toppings. Our service was good...but lots of staff milling about not noticing and helping to fill waters or smile ... just needed a brighter atmosphere to earn a five :)More
Stumbled upon this place while hungry and in the area, didn’t expect the promises of greatest burger in Vancouver but damn was I happily wrong. If you think you like your burger cooked a certain way you’re wrong, this burger is cooked to perfection, there...is no argument, this is the way. I never thought I’d like raw onions in a burger but damn the ever so thinly sliced onions completed what was the perfect symphony of burger glory. Wherever this chef was found he sold his soul to some higher or lower being to create the flavour sensation that is these burgers. Go here, feel joy, experience what is life in a flavourMore
Right on! Great presentation Nice ambience with a selection of craft beers to go with that burger or non burger!...They have happy which looked good but forgot cuz I was so hungry! A good variety of tastey burgers on the menu (of course) and fries...where just the right amount either a crisp crunchu outside but not too crunchy like it had a special coating or seasoning. There was a glitch with the service but totally made up for it when I didn't have my wallet! She was so nice and understanding when I offered my passport till I returned with money that evening or the next day per her suggestion to come back the next day instead of walking in the snow!...It all worked put and I found some cash. I will return next time I am in the area.More
We ate at Romer's one lunchtime as my husband had seen great reviews of the burgers. The food was really good, the service was quick and friendly but I found it weird they didn't take a drinks order and at the end of the meal...they brought the bill out without asking whether we wanted a dessert or anything else. Their loss, we went over the road to Rain or Shine for icecream. It was also a bit annoying that all the tables and booths are high up so the baby in the highchair was really low down so not easy to feed him.More
Three friends and I were having a good dinner at Romers until we got our bill. My friend was under the impression that the only wine on special was the house wine as the menu is very misleading. The server admitted that this had been...an issue before and that it is misleading. They would have happily ordered a different wine and got the discount but again - thought that was the only option. When the manager approached our table she was extremely rude. It blew my mind the way she spoke to us regarding this matter. At the end of the day it was $10 to be taken off the bill which she did while making us feel like we were idiots. The managers name was Emmy and I can tell you that I will not be going back to this location as treating people this way is unacceptable. Our server however was lovely.More
We were at Romer's for a group event that had a set menu. Sometimes that can lead to disappointment but not at this restaurant. The staff were fabulous from the start - attentive with prompt and friendly service. The quality and quantity of food was...outstanding. We started with dry ribs with sauce, chicken wings, bone broth shots and brisket sliders. The main course of ribs and salads was delicious. The meal concluded with donuts and maple whiskey which were very satisfying. We could not have asked for more in a dining experience. We will be back.More
Me and my partner come here often, it has by far the best burgers in Vancouver! Although they are a little bit more pricey then what I would normally pay it's worth it. Their burgers are so filling and fresh you hardly need to order...anything else. Although we do and always bring it home! Servers are always friendly and we never have to wait for a table.More
