I've been here a few times for happy hour and it's pretty standard pub atmosphere but there's something for everyone. It's more comfy and casual than say the Rogue or Joey's and a little less expensive. Last time we were there was about 2 weeks ago for a late night snack and couple of drinks, party of 4 around 11... I was expecting more like a restaurant while this is a real Pub with mostly burgers and fries. Anyway the beer was great, the service was nice and kind and ambient was friendly and not too noise.

Really bad service! Even if it's not that full, you have to wait for a drink at least 20 minutes. And also the manager is really rude to customers, so you can't even complain about service there and you'll be kick out from that place! NOT RECOMMENDED! Nikola

Stopped into the Black Frog for lunch after reading the reviews. Can see and hear the Steamclock while eating lunch. Great selection of micros. Enjoyed the food, beer and excellent service. Price was also right. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

We stopped into the Black Frog after a day exploring Vancouver. We were very full but had a couple of local beers and ciders which were very good. I had the Green Onion cakes and Yam fries that were both delicious! The service was very prompt as well. I recommend the Black Frog.

Looking for a pre-dinner drink and found this place on a short dead-end off the main drag in Gastown. Wasn't expecting much, but ended up with very friendly service, great drinks, and yummy yam fries with curry mayo. Happy with our choice!

Not a place I would have ever expected much of, but not only is the Black Frog Eatery open late for food and drinks in Gastown - very important indeed! - but the quality of the food is decent and the drinks menu extensive. In the ever-changing culinary landscape of Vancouver, it's interesting to note that while this space is... More

We stopped in to have a few drinks and a mid-day appetizer (artichoke Dip) and the prices were good, the drinks cold and the dip quite tasty (although too much onion), however, the waitress we had was about as unfriendly as you can get and really seemed to be disappointed to even be there....this we found rare in Vancouver and... This place is quite easy to miss, at the bottom of a dead end alley, but once inside the friendly staff and quirky atmosphere impressed us. There was a good selection of drinks and a daily 'drinks offer'. The food was good value and arrived quickly. A nice little find.

Heard great things about this place from a friend. Went in for beers and food, wasn't really impressed. Service made up for the mediocre calamari and French dip.

Thank Faisal A

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
