Yum! Service was fast and very polite. Food was great. Tried about six different dishes and all hit the mark on flavour and Presentation. Pricey yet honestly worth it!!

This very small restaurant serves delicious sushi and Japanese dishes. The premises are quite crowded with small tables. The service is very good and the food excellent, with a very wide choice if dishes that are beautifully presented. The prices are expensive compared to other restaurants locally but I think the quality, service, choice and decor make them justifiable. You... More

In a city with almost 1,000 sushi restaurants, you have to be special to stand out from the crowd. Kishimoto does this consistently. Even though we live in Calgary, we dine at Kishimoto about 4 times a year. This place always provides excellent quality and service. Yes, it is a small place where you need to wait for a table.... That was an unexpectedly wonderful place. The restaurant is simple, but the food is incredible. All the details really surprised me and the price was reasonable.

We went with a group of 8 including my young children. They do not take reservations so they advised we show up early and all together. We did. This is hilarious. So at 5 minutes before opening, we drove by to find parking. It was dark and no one around. We park and stroll to the restaurant, seeing that it... More

Love this new finding, had to wait in line prior to restaurant being open but was worth the wait. Pricier side but service was impeccable and food was lovely. Will return again.

So, went on to search for the best sushi of Vancouver and this place came up in the top 10 of the search results and decide to give it a try. With much of the reviews mentioned no reservations allowed and need to be early as some needed to wait for 30-45 mins despite of arriving 5 mins before restaurant... More

Stopped here for dinner with the family based on good reviews from friends. We arrived at 5pm on a Saturday, and the line started buidling the minute we got there. The restaurant itself looks indistiguishable from any other local sushi restaurant, and the menu is completey in English, which is normally not a good sign. But the moment we had... More

There are a lot of good sushi restaurants in Vancouver but this place is OFF the charts! Creative, tasty, friendly and won't breat the bank! No reservations but I wait anyways and I have no patience.

Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighbourhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
