We stopped by the lounge after a nice long walk thru Stanley Park. The views are incredible, as is the service and cocktails. Great selection of drinks and snacks to enjoy. We continued our walk along English Bay and on to Granville Island. Always a must do when in Vancouver!!!

I stayed in Vancouver's lovely west end and after exploring this wonderful city, I ended each day with a "Vancouver" cocktail in the pretty lounge at the iconic Sylvia Hotel. As a woman travelling on my own, I hesitate to go into a bar, but the Sylvia's bar is different. It is a warm and lively room with picture windows... More

The Sylvia Hotel is a wonderful piece of history, as well as a great place to stay in Vancouver. And their restaurant & lounge are very convenient, and seem to be open all day for our enjoyment. I have to say that the food isn't wonderful; but there are many choices on the menu, and you can surely satisfy your... More

A group of 15 did a train trip from Seattle to Vancouver BC. We wanted a group dinner and found that Sylvia's Restaurant and Lounge was the most willing to work with a group. Jodie Ewen, the restaurant manager was great. She suggested we order off the catering menus so that they were able to feed everyone at the same... More

We went here a couple of times in our last trip, ad have been here often during other stays. The food is fine, and the staff friendly. We got a seat for Sunday brunch booking on the day. The views are really good, and on warm days you can sit outside. A safe bet when in Vancouver!

During our three-night stay, we had three breakfasts in the Sylvia Restaurant. The wait staff were excellent, full of humour and attentive to our group's needs. The food was excellent and served hot. We enjoyed the daily arrive of Vancouver's finest motorcyle police and the views out the large windows to the walkers, cyclists, boaters and swimmers at English Bay.... More

We ate here twice during our three night stay and everything was delicious, particularly the salmon and beef. We were too jet-lagged to be up for breakfast, unfortunately. All the staff were lovely. Basically you just sit wherever you like - bar, bistro, restaurant and the menus are the same everywhere. It is completely relaxed and unpretentious - just sit... More

Ambiance lovely, particularly the view. Food was unappetizing at best. I chose Thai curry. It's appearance was a put off, mostly filled up with celery and a few carrots. We ordered a starter of calamari which was forgotten until after our meals were served. By then we cancelled. It was brought anyway by the server and we were told there... More

Had breakfast here on two mornings. Both times very good. Ambiance is excellent with incredible views of English Bay. In the evening, the bar was a cozy place for a quiet drink. Live music on some evenings, but not while I was there. This is the classic type of hotel bar that I love to visit.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
