One does not need to enter Vandusen Gardens to dine in Truffles cafe, but I couldn't imagine why one would stop in if they were not patrons. This cafe is small with much natural light overlooking the front garden entrance. I thought the food was pricey for the quality of food. $4 for an ordinary muffin?!!! Do not expect speedy... More

Love this spot for meeting over a coffee. You don't come out smelling like coffee (aka Starbucks), nor the sound of the barista machines take over the room. Good food, made fresh on premises. The made to order fresh croissant with ham & cheese is delish!

My wife and I wanted to have "high tea" during our visit to Vancouver. We thought that it would be nice to have it in a pretty setting. Unfortunately, we arrived during winter weather and everything was covered--and not sufficiently to make it snowy pretty. We;;, tea for two was less than we anticipated. It was 45, when we expected... More

Love this small cafe in Van Dusan Garden.. starting with the view... it's a lovely place to sit and look at the garden. The teas and coffees are great and the pastries and desserts are truly wonderful. The pastries are as good or better than what you get in high end restaurants. It's a great place for lunch with excellent... More

Went for lunch with a friend and had a great sandwich and soup. The location is really nice and it's really relaxing there. The staff is really friendly. Would definitely recommend it for a quiet lunch.

Truffles is located at the van Duzen Gardens on Oak Street. The staff is friendly. I had a roast beef sandwich; it was tasty and tender. But, at the price they charged, I would have preferred my beef to be thinly sliced, instead of a slab. The ciabatta bun was great, but the stainless steel condiment thimble containing the 'au... Having been to high tea before, I had certain expectations. The tea was $80 for four people. We got to choose two teas and two sandwiches. For what you were given, it would have been much cheaper to buy it all separately. Because of the way the cafe is set up, it is very much a serve-yourself style. Once our... More

Great place for tea and tarts or wine and a sandwich before or after you stroll the gardens. Reasonably priced with pleasant outdoor seating

Truffles is one of the restaurants in the VanDusen Botanical Garden. On this occasion it was chilly and rainy, so we opted not to pay for admission to the garden itself--from what we could see, it's quite nice--but the eatery and the visitor's center in which it's located was really terrific. I'm giving them only a four out of five... More

The space is comfortable and tastefully decorated. It offers indoor and outdoor seating with chairs, couches, large and small tables, and umbrellas for the sun. Outdoor the view of the Livingstone lake is a delight for the eyes. We had a large croque-monsieur (French style ham and cheese toast covered with béchamel sauce), a curry chicken wrap both quite satisfying... More

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighbourhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
