My partner and I decided to splurge and go to Gotham’s to celebrate a life accomplishment. From start to finish the experience was exactly what we wanted. The staff are knowledgeable, passionate but not snooty or judgmental. As a young couple, it was a big deal to spend a large amount of money on a meal and it can be intimidating being in such an established restaurant. We never felt this way at Gotham’s. We were able to sit outside on the patio and be taken care of. The prawns are amazing, along with side orders of the onion bread, asparagus and crab cakes. The dessert was outstanding, and personalized with a “congratulations” made it feel like the waiter truly cared about our experience. Yes this is an expensive meal, but it is well worth it. Treat yourself and go to Gotham’s!

I had always preferred Hy's, but after consulting friends, figured why not try Gotham instead? Then I can compare the two.
The waiter, Jon started off well although I did think the cocktails weren't quick, but that's hardly his fault, as there were numerous reservations arriving at the same time, so whatever.
Then the obligatory cheese toast. John added some extra pieces to the order so the 3 of us could each have two. Jon is already proving his worth.
I am very critical of Caesar salad, because my wife makes a fabulous one and I usually don't order it at restaurants because I'm continually disappointed. Not at Gotham, it was absolutely top notch.
I ordered steak & lobster and Jon adds his expertise: go with the filet, not the NY. Medium rare, please.
My dining compatriots choose the same (cooked medium) & the porterhouse. We have the seasonal veggies, mushrooms & the gorgonzola mac & cheese.
I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I like half a glass or so with a great steak. My companions are more white drinkers, but nobody should ever drink white with such food. I am already looking at Argentinian Malbecs, and Jon immediately draws my eye to a mid price one that sounds promising.
When it comes, it's exquisite, one of the best wines I've ever had, and my partners enjoy it too. We all talk about looking to buy some at the wine store. Jon is scoring huge points now.
The lobster was a bit rubbery, definitely needing the knife to cut it, but still quite delicious & certainly edible. I would not complain & have it wasted, it really wasn't bad, just a little bit off perfect.
The veggies were peas, bacon & onions. Cooked to perfection & very delicious.
The mushrooms & the mac & cheese were both very tasty, except the gorgonzola was a bit much, and I was grateful to have the bacon from the veggies to balance it perfectly.
What to say about the steak? Can you say perfection? All 3 of us commented that they could not have been more perfect.
Finish with a cappuccino with liqueur, creme brulee & key lime pie.
Buddy says key lime pie was incredible, but the creme brulee was disappointing, the top was burnt. We ate all the custard, but actually left some of the burnt crispy behind(!)
Jon has been the perfect server, and I find out he spent a decade at Hy's before starting at Gotham. No wonder he was so awesome. I hope he really enjoys his first Thanksgiving off in over a decade.
Yeah, ok, it's a little expensive (with tip $625.00) and perhaps a little hard to justify, but as a special night out, we look forward to going back to see Jon again.
That's really what made the difference on this night: impeccable service by a personable, professional waiter who knows how to do his job to perfection.

Gotham’s is known to locals as the place for steak. I’ve looked at the menu for years but have never brought myself to come here for dinner. In my head it would rack up to $400-500 for 2 people. Given the current pandemic/lockdown, we wouldn’t be able to see family this Christmas we decided the splurge and try it out.
Restaurant is dimly lighted (not great for taking photos of the food) however we loved everything that we ordered. Something to note that I didn’t know was that the orders are to share. So the $12 soup of the day or $16 Caesar salad is actually $6 and $8 respectively per person. Even the sides like the $13 mash potato is to be shared. This meant that our bill came to under $200 and we were extremely full but the food was so good we finished everything we ordered.
The Bone-In Rib Steak and small portion of Lamb Chops could be shared. Very accommodating service and the highlight of all the restaurants we tried during our staycation. We will definitely visit again in future for special occasions as well as bring family to try it out when lockdown and the pandemic finally ease.

Took my team for a nice dinner.
Great ambiance, superb service. Food was just incredible. Many of my team said it was the best steak they ever had. Cooked to perfection, superb presentation.
Our waiter was great in presenting the different cuts and presenting the menu.
A bit pricey, but definitely worth a comeback.
I highly recommend this restaurant!

My now-husband and I decided after postponing our wedding to elope in Whistler and treat ourselves with a stay downtown and dinner at one of Vancouver's top restaurants.
I booked our reservation at least 2 months in advance and had even included in our reservation it was our wedding night.
When we arrived we were walked to our table which to us seemed like a basic placement with no thought in place so we asked to be seated upstairs. We ordered a lamb and steak with cheese bread and two sides. The meals were good, no complaints about the food. We did choose to order dessert and they did write "congratulations" on our dish and the waiter did acknowledge our wedding night....
Though when the bill came, the wasn't even a penny off our receipt. I don't want to sound entitled but I am disappointed with our experience and the lack of anything, no discount, no free drink (not even my juice) no free dessert, or anything.
I'm not sure if they believed us that it was our wedding night but it really was and I have no shame in it and I felt like there was part on their side to make it special or appreciate we had chosen to spend our dinner their business. Just put a bad taste in my mouth especially after the amazing service and experience we got from our hotel earlier in the evening.
Very disappointed with our experience, would probably never go back.

After a recommendation, I took the short wintry walk into the Gotham Steakhouse. First impressions were certainly good. Introductions and a choice of restaurant or bar area. Bar area won although quiet, the on song piano player knocked out a couple of ballads but disappeared soon after. A sporty menu with a broad choice and no rush to order. Although the ordered starter (chowder) didn't arrive, this didn't detract from the overall experience. Fillet steak and lobster with 2 sides were cooked to perfection. The lobster was taken from its shell at the table, a nice touch. An iPad is left which doubles as the wine list and a Uruguayan red had all the right notes. Gotham is certainly one for a special occasion but unfortunately not for the solo traveller.

My husband and I came here for a anniversary dinner only to be greeted by a rude unfriendly hostess and unwelcoming slow waiter. The only plus was the food was amazing and was with my husband so we had a good time. Would I return no. They may wish to work on their customer service no wonder the place was empty.

Old steakhouse charm with classy touches. Beautiful bar area. Excellent classic guitar player with music heard throughout. We sat in a both upstairs and we felt it was a very private dining experience.
We have high expectations on food and service and this is what you get. You also pay for it as it is pricey
We had martinis that were perfect and the lox appetizer which is tasty, ask for butter and their bread toast to go with it. Small portion but good for two.
We had Tortoise Creek Cab so not one of the pricier wines but it matched well and was tasty with the steak with was an awesome 24 oz porterhouse cooked to perfection at med to med rare that we split (really nice that you can feel
Comfortable doing that here). Also you can ask for half portions of most of the sides. Cream spinach was ok but preferred the cauliflower gratin.
Service was impeccable! Very friendly staff and knowledgeable about the menu.
It was a $400 experience all in for us and we truly enjoyed it to the max.
Highly recommend and would go again our next visit to Vancouver

If you're looking for a fancy night out, this place will not disappoint. Jon was excellent and knowledgable when it came to describing everything on the menu and helping us select a bottle of wine to pair with our steak. For an appetizer we had the Smoked Salmon which was fresh & a better portion size than Hy's. The cheese toast appetizer was addicting. I ordered the Filet & Lobster tail for my main, which was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the Cheesecake.
Overall the pace of the evening was great, the food wasn't too rushed and always came out hot. The cocktails were excellent, and a server always came by just on time to top off our wine. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in Vancouver and want the best of the best.

One of our best dining experiences. The service at Gotham is superb, the waiters were knowledgeable, prompt, on top of everything (water, taking dishes away, everything). The food was excellent, perfect steaks (taste and doneness), fantastic appetizer and desserts. The shrimp cocktail was probably the best one I have ever had in recent memory. The dessert key Lime Pie was the best Key Lime I have had bar none. We can't wait to go back.

We had visited Gotham for cocktails several years ago, and we promised ourselves that we would dine there the next time we were in Vancouver. COVID kept us away longer than we expected, but It was well worth the wait.
Our reservation was at 5:00 PM when happy hour is really rolling, so the music volume was pretty loud on the main floor. We requested a booth on the second floor that proved to be quieter. David, our server, was superb. When we mentioned the portions seemed large, he suggested ordering several half orders instead. We split the mixed green salad, Portobello fries, and seasonal vegetables. I had the 10 oz. bone-in veal chop and my husband had the 6 oz. filet. Both were perfectly prepared. David's wine suggestions were excellent pairings. Service was efficient without hovering. This is a pricey white table cloth place and we felt our experience was worth every penny. We will be back.

My son and I dropped in for a 1:30pm reservation.
From the moment we entered the Gotham Steakhouse the level of service was outstanding.
Our waiter was excellent.
I had the 20oz Bone in Rib steak and my son had the 24oz New York Bone In.
The steaks were done to perfection! Amazing taste and very tender!
The side dishes of Sautéed Asparagus and mashed potatoes perfect.
The service throughout was non rushed but timely.
We will definitely be back!
Would highly recommend the Gotham Steakhouse.

The ambience, service and food was exactly what one would expect at a 5 star restaurant. Without being too extreme, for what you pay, it was worth spoiling yourself. Our waiter, Rio, was quite exceptional, even more so when we discovered he had only been at Gotham for two weeks. Also, Beau, another waiter who had assisted us when registering at St Regis, was so attentive and friendly, one could have assumed HE was our waiter at Gotham’s. All in all, the food, service and restaurant itself were worth exactly what it cost. Money well spent!

From the time that I arrived, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The resident wine expert ask if i knew what I would be ordering for an appetiser & main course and maid a couple of suggestions for wines that would pair nicely with my choices. I went with his suggestions and both complimented the appetiser and the main course perfectly. From the prawn cocktail to the Fillet & Lobster tail... to the Belgian Chocolate/Bourbon Cake I was thoroughly impressed!! Thank you

Impeccable service dark classy interior. A special occasion place like the great Montreal Steak places (Moishe's etc) Got better steak and service than Barberian's in Toronto. Like Hy's this is high end and worth it. Server was incredible gave us great recommendations. Had A5 Wagyu for two to start it was magical unicorn meat we were in heaven! Cheese toast ate two baskets crazy good. One Sazerac and one girly drink were perfect. Bacon wrapped filet with baked potato, forest mushrooms perfectly cooked med rare with bearnaise. One NY strip cooked med well with pepper corn gravy. Best crust I have seen on a steak for years! Gravy was more of a light sauce than Escoffier traditional really lovely. One 20 yr old calvados not a great brand and not their fault prefer Dupont. Insanely good Key Lime pie with pressed sugar graham crust with chantilly cream. Musician was crazy good played fabulous guitar solos. Vancouver you have a world class gem here equal to the best steakhouses get out and try it; leave the avocado toast behind for a classy evening! Epic night for a Toronto visitor.
