Our server was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, top notch. We enjoyed the trio of steaks as well as doing our side dishes family-style. Excellent service, food, wine selection and overall experience. It was a great environment to catch up with friends and we ended up staying...much longer than expected.More

Don’t respect mask or vaccine exemptions, people in wheelchairs, autism, or any other related issue better not come to this restaurant. Discrimination against religious views too. Denial of a wedding party booking because of the above, devastating that restaurants are discriminating once again like they...did in the 1940s/50s. On the wrong side of history here.More

We came here for our anniversary. We had the nicest staff, seated in a nice private corner. We ordered a lovely bottle of red wine. Then the food came out! WOW my husband had a 200day aged steak!! HE LOVED IT! it was extremely beefy...tasting if that makes any sense.. I had the Halibut on special. WOW super fresh and cooked to perfection! I would 10000% recommend you try it for your self. We finished up our perfect dinner with dessert, Belgian chocolate bourbon cake. What a perfect eveningMore

The ambience, service and food was exactly what one would expect at a 5 star restaurant. Without being too extreme, for what you pay, it was worth spoiling yourself. Our waiter, Rio, was quite exceptional, even more so when we discovered he had only been...at Gotham for two weeks. Also, Beau, another waiter who had assisted us when registering at St Regis, was so attentive and friendly, one could have assumed HE was our waiter at Gotham’s. All in all, the food, service and restaurant itself were worth exactly what it cost. Money well spent!More

My now-husband and I decided after postponing our wedding to elope in Whistler and treat ourselves with a stay downtown and dinner at one of Vancouver's top restaurants. I booked our reservation at least 2 months in advance and had even included in our reservation...it was our wedding night. When we arrived we were walked to our table which to us seemed like a basic placement with no thought in place so we asked to be seated upstairs. We ordered a lamb and steak with cheese bread and two sides. The meals were good, no complaints about the food. We did choose to order dessert and they did write "congratulations" on our dish and the waiter did acknowledge our wedding night.... Though when the bill came, the wasn't even a penny off our receipt. I don't want to sound entitled but I am disappointed with our experience and the lack of anything, no discount, no free drink (not even my juice) no free dessert, or anything. I'm not sure if they believed us that it was our wedding night but it really was and I have no shame in it and I felt like there was part on their side to make it special or appreciate we had chosen to spend our dinner their business. Just put a bad taste in my mouth especially after the amazing service and experience we got from our hotel earlier in the evening. Very disappointed with our experience, would probably never go back.More

3rd time at Gotham. 3rd time: exceptional food, wine and service. Seafood tower - a feast. Steaks - 65-day bone-in rib-eyes the best beef I’ve ever eaten. Only sour note: being physically assaulted by a drunken patron upon leaving, followed by full police intervention. Interesting...evening to say the least.More

Gotham Steakhouse has been serving Vancouverites since 1999. In its 22 years of existence, it has garnered heaps of praise – probably more than any other fine dining establishment in the city – from food critics, bloggers and every-day citizens like you and I. To...put this into perspective, Gotham has routinely made the DailyHive’s list of “best” steakhouses in Vancouver, and one notable publication has referred to Gotham as “Vancouver’s finest steakhouse.” When you have other heavyweights in the city, like Black + Blue and Hy’s, that’s some pretty high praise. Of course, the pundits and I aren’t always on the same page. Nevertheless, colleagues and friends have raved about this place for years, so I figured it’s probably time for PookyCake to put on the fine-dining bib and experience one of Vancouver’s most well-known establishments. Gotham is probably best described as an old school steakhouse with a modern twist. Housed in a beautiful art deco heritage building (constructed in 1933), the dining space is vast, features high ceilings and is tastefully appointed with various shades of rouge and dark mahogany paneling. Importantly, during the COVID pandemic, public health measures are strictly adhered to: All tables and booths maintain the appropriate physical distance between guests, plexiglass barriers have been erected where necessary, and servers all wear masks. As a customer, I appreciate this because it allows us to feel safe all while enjoying the warm atmosphere and delicious food of Gotham. We ordered the Cheese Toast and Crab Cake for our appetizers. Having previously dined at Hy’s, how could we not order Gotham’s version of cheese toast and compare the two? Well, there wasn’t much to compare because Gotham’s Cheese Toast tasted very similar to that found at Hy’s; that is to say, it was astonishingly excellent. To this day, I continue to marvel at how something so simple and seemingly commonplace can be elevated to such a degree and made so mouth-wateringly good. Our crab cake, which featured fresh crab, pickled cucumber, and a roasted jalapeno tartar sauce, was also nicely done. I especially liked that the crab was allowed to shine – no room for fillers here! When you come to a steakhouse, especially one the calibre of Gotham, you can’t NOT have the steak. As such, my partner and I both ordered 6oz steaks, one with lobster. This is, of course, where Gotham really shines. The emphasis is on the steaks. The plating is simple and straightforward; there are no fancy garnishes – only what you’ve ordered. You can order sauces to accompany the steak, but these aren’t needed. I love that Gotham allows the beef to shine. There’s a bit of salt and pepper to season the meat, but the natural flavours are allowed to shine. And believe me, they are absolutely divine. No sauces or distracting spices necessary. If you want any accompaniments, you have to order them separately (see, classic steakhouse); they are all big enough to share. We decided to get something a little different and ordered the Portobello mushroom fries. Wow! What a surprise and treat these turned out to be. The “fries” had a nice crispy coating, but were tender and flavourful inside. The earthiness of the Portobello played nicely with our other dishes. Even though we were full after finishing our meals, we opted to share a light dessert of seasonal berries with fresh whipped cream. I think this was the perfect conclusion to a lovely repast because the whipped cream wasn’t heavy and the berries provided a nice sense of freshness, sort of balancing the steak and lobster. Finally, I’d be remiss if I failed to mention the service. A restaurant can have amazing food, but the service is lacking, it can ruin the whole experience. Thankfully, the fine folks at Gotham know and understand the important link between excellent customer service & patron experience. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like VIPs – a nice feeling. Our server, Ken, really stole the show. He was engaging, offered wonderful suggestions, and was flawless in his job. FOOD: 5/5 SERVICE: 5/5 VALUE: 4/5 RECOMMENDATION: Gotham Steakhouse is indeed a Vancouver institution. The warm, classic ambiance + stellar service and outstanding food make for one of the city’s best overall dining experiences. If you want to go out for a special occasion, or just want the perfect steak, come here. You won’t regret it! Now this time was just right. One would expect with the establishment being known for its steaks then the choice would be so. Alas no, the prawns as starter followed by the tuna steak were both cooked to perfection. A cheeky cheeseboard and a cameo...performance by a fruity Mr Malbec made all the right noises.More

It’s a very accommodating, pleasant dining experience - I doubt they would choose to say no. However, I would not recommend splitting a steak unless it’s cooked to MR and above.

Because it is a steak house you should be able to find enough to eat here that is gluten-free. The food is excellent.
