Bluewater cafe has been on my list to visit since I moved to Vancouver last year. I finally booked it to celebrate my husband's birthday. We are limited in Vancouver with halal choices at fine dining /michelin restaurants. I have been spoilt being born and...raised in London, UK where so many restuarants n9w have halal options. We chose Blue water cafe because it is predominantly a seafood restaurant. First of all, I must write a heartfelt appreciation for the restaurant accommodation a request for their chocolate cake to be made alcohol free for us. This dessert was yummy. We ordered the aburi sablefish sushi and the s Lobster sushi wrapped in a thin omelette. Both were yummy and my husband and I instantly decided we needed to return on another day just to indulge in the their raw bar menu . For our mains, we ordered the sablefish and the halibut. Both dishes the fish were flaky and succulent. We also ordered the heirloom carrots which I felt should have been more generous in proportion and the carrots did look a bit sad and limp. The service was friendly, it was very busy for a Wedneaday evening. The dessert was divine and next time I am not sharing with my husband. The bill came to around £140 but of course we don't drink alcohol and stuck to sparking water. I loom forward to visiting again.More

Best Seafood in Vancouver-and that is saying alot. We sat inside, but there is a large outdoor heated patio area as well. Most importantly, you can get great sushi here-so the best of both worlds. Or better yet, come back two nights in a row--one...for sushi and one for "regular" seafood. The craft cocktail program is terrific and the wine list is extensive ( and expensive).More

We come to Blue Water Cafe every time we are in Vancouver and this place does not disappoint. Top notch attentive service, delicious seafood, beautiful ambiance (we had a table on the covered patio which I would highly recommend as it is not nearly as...noisy as inside the restaurant). Crab cake was classic and delicious. Halibut with hazelnut spätzle was outstanding. Miss sablefish was delicate and light.More

Food was excellent. Wonderful fish tiered platter starter was sublime with good wine to match. Mains were also excellent but the service of the main course was hugely delayed so meal disjointed. To be fair manager came over and apologised, it was Friday night and...full and they offered discount for the very slow service. Would come back as food excellent.More

We are from the eastern US Shoreline but this fish based meal was possibly the finest we have ever had, anywhere. Everything from cocktails to dessert was prepared with meticulous care. We were overwhelmed by the quality and service.

We were searching for a restaurant with fresh, local seafood and a West Coast flair. Blue Water Cafe was the perfect place for us! Our server guided us through the menu with expert advice and helped us make the perfect selections for our table. We...started with the Seafood Tower, which was a great introduction to what the restaurant had to offer. We next explored the sushi menu, which was by far our favorite part of the dinner. The Japanese style of sushi preparation by an amazingly talented chef was the high point of the evening. A terrific wine list, including great selections by the glass, complemented the meal.More

Excellent meal and very good service. In a good location in Yale Town. Mainly a fish and sushi restaurant and we had the seafood tower to share as a starter then the scallops with fries as main course which were cooked perfectly. There was also...a sushi bar inside. Restaurant was full but not too noisy. Highly recommended and booking is essential.More

We were vacationing in Vancouver from Ohio and I made reservations early because of the reviews I read. Our reservation was on a Tuesday at 6:30 pm. I chose patio seating and was glad I did. The patio is lovely, quiet, and serene compared to...hustle and bustle of inside. We did think the table setting was a bit sparse, as there was no centerpiece of a candle, flower, or anything. There was just a tablecloth with silverware. Our server was very friendly and steered us to some good choices, however, she was almost too casual for this caliber of restaurant. We ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer and the Hamachi and Salmon sashimi. They were beautifully presented, but both tasted a little fishy to us and the Ahi was flavorless with no glaze or edible garnishes. Our mains were the Sablefish which was FANTASTIC, and the Halibut. The Halibut was very overcooked, so much so that I said something (and I usually don't complain). So our server offered to re-cook the fish and took the piece away, but said to continue to enjoy the rest of the accompanying vegetables. What? By the time the piece of perfectly cooked halibut this time arrived, the rest of my dish was cold. I was shocked that she just didn't take my whole plate away and bring back another composed dish. Not professional at all. However, I would like to give kudos to the rest of the staff and the food runner especially. His demeanor was lovely and he explained our dishes with passion. Overall it was very pricey for the experience we had.More

Among the best meals ever enjoyed by four American friends who have eaten great food around the world. The decor is stunning & the staff is superb. We started with an excellent selection of local oysters and creative mixed green salads. Entrees included delectable steamed...lobster, sablefish (local specialty, buttery smooth) and char (almost like salmon but distinctive). Desserts were magical. Our server was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and personable. Worth a trip to Vancouver just to eat here!More

I only wish Bluewater remembered us as we are diehard regulars and love everything about our experience every time. When the waiter asks “is this your first time here?” it’s just a tad disappointing. He may have thought I was being snarky when I said,...no, is this yours? Other than that our evening was spectacular.More

Nice to sit outside. The sablefish was phenomenal. The wine list is ridiculously expensive so ordered a bottle from the listing of wines by the glass as it was the only reasonably priced wine (under $100 whereas the wine list was in the hundreds and...above) and we could taste it before ordering.More
