I ate here twice within a few weeks. The first meal was breakfast, which was superb: interesting food presented beautifully. The atmosphere was cozy and the server left my friend and me to talk. Returned for dinner with my family and we were all disappointed. First, it is very pricey for the quality and amount of food. Second, it was... More

Wonderful menu: upscale Belgian bistro food. The atmosphere is warm, the cuisine top notch and the cocktails imaginative.

Check out the menu of Chambar before you book. It is not "typical" and if you are looking for a mainstream menu Chambar is not your restaurant. Instead, if you are a bit adventurous and ready to embrace different flavours, then you will love Chambar. We absolutely loved the different choices and our various mains used spices and flavour combinations... More

Went for a lunch with some friends and really enjoyed the ambiance and service. The menu is not overly extensive but certainly adequate. The staff is very efficient and friendly. The food is very well prepared and well presented.

We walked into Chambar without any reservations and we seated right away. Service was excellent and prompt, and we didn't wait long before we were served. The menu was diverse, the dishes were delicious, and it was a beautiful space. The only drawback was the noise level. I was with an elderly person and she had a hard time hearing... More

We were somewhat confused by having had four different servers during our meal. Not sure if this be a contemporary technique. The meals were all tasty and filling.

We came here for brunch and had a very peculiar combination of dishes to share--venison burger and merguez sausage tajine with a side of spicy potatoes. A wonderful complement of flavours. The burger (as often here in BC) was slightly overcooked but still juicy enough. Unfortunately our coffee only arrived with our entrees (hence the 4 stars... A pretty big... More

YES! The food was great but honestly will think twice before going back. We were a small group of women and perhaps that was part of the problem??? We were basically ignored much of the night but the big issue was when it came time to pay our bill and we were left waiting for ages. Having to flag down... More

This is a great restaurant for that something a little different! Interesting menu with great service makes for a great evening dinner. I am a meat & potato guy and I found something on the menu (no potato!). Our server was first class from start to finish, I had the tasty veal, however the lamb shank is my next meal... More

I. LOVE. THIS. RESTAURANT. SO. MUCH. Seriously this is one of the best places I've ever eaten at. It isn't a new restaurant which is a sign that they are doing something right. The charcuterie was amazing. Mussels were perfect. Cheeseboard was incredible.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
