My husband and I were visiting Vancouver during “Dine Out Vancouver,” so we were told the Chambar restaurant would be having a special prix fixe menu. The 3-course dinner turned out to be one of the most amazing meals we’ve ever experienced! I ordered the tamarind curried prawns to start, mussels in tomato coconut cream for my entree and a coconut custard with sticky toffee pudding for dessert. My husband had the foie de canard to start, followed by braised short ribs and the chocolate pear meringue cake. Each course was beautifully presented and quite generous. We were stuffed by the end! The ambiance was cozy and lively. Our server was delightful. I highly recommend Chambar for a special night out!

We are trying to go to all the restaurants we have gift cards for because you never know how long they are going to be in business in these trying times. Tonight was Chambar which we had a gift card for because Van City Credit Union did this excellent support local business program whereby you could get a gift card for half price (Van City covered the other half). We have been here before and it was as good as usual. We shared the mixed green salad which was really good. Truly mixed green with a lot of different leafy vegies. Very tasty. I had the mussels congolaise, which I've had before and it is truly good. My partner had the mussels coquotte, which is kind of like moules marniere but with bacon added. He really enjoyed it. Also had the pan fried brussel sprouts which were also great. All in all a good meal.

My husband were heading down to the Vancouver Boat Show and we wanted some breakfast before heading in, as we knew food and drinks were going to be super expensive. We literally stumbled onto Chambar, and I am so glad we did. This place is awesome! We were greeted right away, and even though we did not have a reservation, and they were super busy, they sat us right away. We did not know what to expect as this was our first time at Chambar, and boy, were we ever surprised. I had best London Fog I have ever had. Both my husband and I are on the Keto diet and we had no trouble finding something to eat!! So good!! When we head downtown again, Chambar will be our go to place!!!

The food here is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented! Dined here for Dine Out 2020 and everything we sampled was fantastic - no complaints about the food or drinks whatsoever. Our servers during dinner were awesome with the bonus of being very funny!
One star off, however, for the horrible "greeting" by the hostess when we entered the restaurant Friday night. She was not smiling or welcoming at all - weirdest and coldest greeting ever (we almost walked out and left at this point). No reason to be so rude to female guests Ms. Hostess Lady (and don't just smile at the men). Maybe it was just an off night for her.
Chambar - you are such an awesome restaurant, please hire happy hosts/hostesses who treat ALL guests kindly and who are warm and welcoming to both women and men (like your dinner servers who treated everyone respectfully and warmly).

Chamber used to be our "go-to" place for a wonderful meal and to entertain out of town guests. No more. Our recent dinner there was one disappointment after the other. From the $15 cocktail (a gin in tonic) served in a low ball glass with lemon, to the Wagyu beef carpaccio which was smothered in balsamic to the steamed mussels - 1/3 of the size of the usual shell fish with an acidic tomato broth. The menu's wording for several items was misleading and what arrived was not expected. The only saving grace regarding the food was the foie gras pate but even that was served with large pieces of brioche that spoiled the appetite. Service was friendly and the hostesses were charming. Please Chambar, pay attention. You are losing loyal customers!

Had dinner here last night. Service was really good but the food was just ok, except for the mussels. Of course, Belgium cuisine is all about Moules Frites, so glad they did the steamed mussels very well. They were very flavourful. However, the other dishes were less impressive. We shared 2 appetizers and they were ok, nothing to write home about. I was really looking forward to having some authentic Belgium fries but sadly, did not get that with my Moules Frites. The fries that came with the mussels had so much salt on it that I could not even finish 1/3 of the small amount that they gave you. It was also not as crispy as I would like - something that Belgium fries are famous for. We had a side order of deep fried brussel sprouts but they were more like deep burnt brussel sprouts. It's almost like someone forgot to take them out of the deep frier - they were burnt to a literal crisp. It was like eating charcoal.
Although the service was really good and the beer selection of course is excellent, given that it's a Belgium restaurant, I found the food rather disappointing. I don't think I'd be coming back, esp given the number of amazing restaurants one can choose from in Vancouver.

While staying at the Georgian Court Hotel we were looking for breakfast. Nearby Jam restaurant had an intimidatingly long line and we happened to notice a couple standing in front of Chambar. Since it was 5 minutes to opening (10am) we decided to wait and most certainly did not regret the decision. The staff was friendly and professional, the decor was beautiful and the breakfast was scrumptious. Highly recommended.

A disappointing experience. They cared more about the staff member that was dining with his friends one table over, than they did about us.
There are too many choices of great restaurants in Vancouver - Do not waste your money at those that do not value the customers that try to support them. $70 for a brunch that was not much better than Denny's is just sad.

We started off on the patio, but the sun went behind the buildings and it chilled a bit too much before our first plates arrived... no problem - the Chambar staff moved us inside without any hesitation and most importantly without any attitude. This was the start of a very friendly but professional service over the next 2+ hours. We also had excellent interactions with the sommeliers, and ended up with a great bottle to accompany our meal. Vancouver is, overall, an expensive place to be eating out, but the layers of flavours and the excellence of every plate that came to the table could not be denied, so the prices did not seem too high for what was recieved - and we enjoyed everything that was ordered, including the simply done but fantastically cooked french fries (which were a great pairing with the glass of champagne we started with). Definitely high on the list for a second visit when I return to Vancouver.

On Friday we ordered father's day brunch for pick up on Sunday. We were told it would be ready at 10:30 am. When I arrived, I was told it would be a few minutes - fair enough since I was a few minutes early. 10 minutes later, I was still waiting, I had paid in advance, and made the mistake of including a tip. I asked if they could check what was happening with the order. The person, who turned out to be the manager, went away. I didn't see her again for at least 10 more minutes, so I was left wondering what was happening. I complained to another staff person that I was still waiting for my order, and her reply was "Oh sorry, but I wasn't the one who took your order," deflecting any responsibility, and making me more angry. In all, I waited 25 minutes - and it wasn't like there was a rush of other orders: I was the only one waiting. Due to COVID, the restaurant was half empty and there were lots of staff around, but obviously they weren't giving pick ups any priority.

What an amazing treat today @chambar restaurant in YVR. Rainy inclement day turned into a perfect yummy experience! The 'moule frites' are truly Vancouvers best, bar none! Our Chantelle/bacon/goat cheese omelette was also perfect to share.. Thank You Ashley for your caring & friendly table service.. we will be back soon, cheers!

Shame on you Chambar !
Terrible experience which will result in most of us never returning !
6 middle aged friends made a reso last Thursday at 6 pm
When we arrived several of us had our vaccination QR code’s on our phones as well as our ID ( pics of passports and BC Drivers Licences ) We used Uber so no need to have our physical BCDL .
Chambar refused to accept our IDs on our phone and cited it was against the law to let us in and turned us away .
The person at door was rude and suggested we could have falsified our ID ! He was the worst ambassador for a well established restaurant I have ever experienced.
Since the reopening of in room dining all of us have been trying to support the Vancouver restarant scene and been going out 2 / 3 nights a week .
This was the first time any of us had been turned away for not having a passport or DL on our person .
The silver lining is within one quick call to one of the cities best Italian eateries we provided a table and gladly accepted our IDs
Get with it Chambar cash and physical ID are old school … and you just lost 6 long time customers due to your staff and their draconian attempt to enforce their version of the rules ….
Shame on you !

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local. Reservations booked, welcoming was friendly, the setting nice and the service as expected.
However, food (still core business) did not live up to our expectations.
We chose the veal & calamares as main course. Food was served in approximately ten (!) minutes. Veal and sauce were super, but the stuffed calamares (no rings) killed the taste of the veal and the garnishing (brocoli) was either overdone or tasteless.
Was it because the chef was not stirring the pots that night or …?
Good choice of beers and wine though 😀
This restaurant is over-rated and too expensive to justify value for money. We’ve spent a few days in Vancouver, had dinner at several restaurants (comparable pricing range) in Yaletown and so far only the Chambar has disappointed us.
Sorry, but to promote the Belgian cuisine the chef needs to upgrade the quality and final touch of his menu.
Having read other reviews I reckon things were great at the start, but nowadays one can find better value for money.
Anyway, I could not find any replies from Chambar management on different comments, so I suspect they don’t bother replying anyway ?

I’ve been a Chambar lover and faithful customer for 15 years, however haven’t been for over a year. We went on the weekend to eat before the Coldplay concert and were very excited. Ordered the mussels like we always do. We waited for 45 mins for them to arrive and like you could expect, it’s not fun to watch every other table get their food but you. The server joked that our food had been given to another table (?). Not funny. He then said there was an issue with the mussels and that’s why they were slow to arrive. When they did, they were dried up, small and tough instead of the usual delicious mussels we were expecting. With no time to discuss and late to our concert, we left. With how expensive it is for anyone and everyone to eat out, the dining experience should surpass expectations and be the best quality. Anything less than that is inexcusable when you’re paying $200 & up to eat out

First off the food was blah, but what really made me write this review was the service. People where rude, our food was cold and they kept rushing us through out our meal. Do yourself a favor a go to PIDGIN instead. Chambar is trying to sit as many people as they can, and is not acknowledging the fact that we are still in a pandemic.
