Awesome place! Close to skytrain ( 1mins walk Stadium). Parking all around. We came here party of 12 for Dine out. The Menu had many options which we could choose from. Appy I had the Thon Au Miso which was amazing ( Seared Tuna) The presentation was incredible . Main course I had the Pot au Feu de Poisson which... More

Went in with a reservation for 7 pm. Got seated immediately. Our waiter rushed us ordering drinks and food and then brought the drinks after we already were eating our appetizers. My appetizer was tuna sushi grade with a sort of vole slaw. My wife's was a crudite of vegetables and some wonderful dressings. The mains were ling cod excellent... More

The place is beautiful, with a cosy atmosphere and some candle lights on the tables and the bar. Service is good, an army of waiters are waiying for serving you and the dishes arrive at the good speed. The food is fresh, fine delicious, but a bit overprice cause really very little in the plate. A gastronomic dinner doesn't mean... More

Took advantage of the dine out menu pre the Canucks game. Seated promptly with very friendly host. We had never been to the lower section of the restaurant which is quite spacious from upper. Server was great. Outlined all of the specials in great detail. We took all of his recommendations and nobody in our group of 4 was disappointed.... More

Made resos (luckily) and there were a lot of people waiting around even though there seemed to be a lot of empty tables farther in. We think we have kid-ish taste buds because this was all too much .. "VSTAR" Rating: Variety - 6/10: For brunch, you can only choose about 11 things but at least 2 of them are... More

Went here for Dine Out last weekend and was surprised to see foie gras on the menu. I avoid restaurants that choose to serve this food and specifically chose this restaurant because this was not an offering on their Dine Out menu. Had I known this was an option, I would have booked elsewhere. Dinner was so-so but being misled... More

The food was awesome, and being Dine-Out incredible value for money too 😋 Great service, really great gin martini's and those amazing Congolese muscles!!! Who needs more? Well, the Vancouver Opera presentation of Macbeth by Third World Bunfight completed a superb evening out in our fantastic city.

My wife and I tried Chambar on a recent Saturday evening, and have both good and bad to report, mostly good: 1. The food is excellent! I started with the sardine and my wife with the crudités and we were both happy with our choices. We had different moules, one cocotte and one congolaise, and decided that both were good,... More

Went before a Canucks game on a Friday night so the place was hopping. Unfortunately, that's not a good thing. The walls are brick, so there is nothing to dampen the sound and it is very loud. Ordered the arctic char, which arrived in five minutes, so it is at least partially precooked. They made a bit of a production... More

The most memorable aspect of this restaurant was the loud, percussive, repetitive and intrusive music played all night. It was irritating, non-melodic and annoying. I had mussels which were very good, my wife's brochette was nice though not as rare as she was hoping it would be. Our friends' both had the lamb which was too spicy for their tastes... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
