The food was superb and so reasonable. The students cooked better than most high end restaurants. I had the scallop appetizer and it was tasty and presented well. The veal was done to perfection and the sauce to die for. My bread pudding was delicious but could have had more ice cream. The food is equivalent to a restaurant such... More

When you come in, you forget that you're in VCC. It feels like you just entered a fine dining French restaurant. Food is very high quality and very well plated. Serving staff is efficient and friendly. Reservations recommended as it can get busy.

A must go place at the edge of downtown Vancouver, BC, hidden inside Vancouver Community College. Creative cooking and excellent service by the students of the college program.

3 for lunch on a reservation (recommended to ensure they are open and have space). Being part of culinary training courses please keep that in mind when reacting to the staff as they may be still on a learning curve for table service. The food has always been good anytime we have visited. Presentation, flavours, and good menu choices are... More

I had lunch with my mum there yesterday and yes the food and the price are both great but the maitre d' should maybe have be reminded that the customer comes first : we had booked a table for 2 and a friend of mine wanted to join us last minute and the restaurant was 50% EMPTY and he refused... We have wanted to go here for a long time and we finally did. Everything about the experience was very good. We made a reservation and they were friendly and efficient when they took it - confirming the day and time at the end of the call. The restaurant itself was nice and there was a nice variety of people... More

We arrived a couple minutes late and thanks to Theresa we were able to enjoy a great dining experience. The creativity, sophisticated and friendly service, along with outstanding quality food was enjoyed by all four of us. Limited menus (4 mains) selected by the staff/students made the decision difficult for only one meal. The menus last approximately two weeks; the... More

In August , 2015, we went to JJ's at the Vancouver Community college where culinary and service students are studying. The presentation was fit for any Gourmet magazine..the food was delicious. I had squash ravioli with seasoned peas, soft boiled egg, caviar, and toasted tofu. The taste was beyong words, the serving was just right in quantity, and the quality... More

We were spending time in Vancouver, at the end of a long trip, so decided that expensive city restaurants were out! We had dined in College restaurants before, and had found out about JJ's from a newspaper article. We rang to make a reservation, and were accommodated the same evening, to our surprise. We invited some Canadian friends to join... More

The food here is beautifully presented and the service is considerate and attentive. The 3-course dinner for only $24 is such a great deal, and the quality is exceptional. They also offer a buffet dinner every second Friday. The seared scallop and pork belly appetizer was paired with a bright, crunchy salad and all of the components on the plate... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
