Loved the Chinese food at Kirin in downtown Vancouver. I wide selection.. began with a very tasty won-ton soup and also had sliced duck in sweet brown sauce. Very good. The hot tee was very good on a cold evening in Vancouver. The waiters were very friendly and helped with the recommendations for dishes. Many choices but i picked my... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we had our first Tak good Chinese meal in over a year! We felt they could have done a better job with the soup noodles that were soggy but the rest of the meal was good

Kirin is very good. Every dish, from simple vegetable dishes to the elaborate Peking Duck were flavourful and fresh. Nothing was greasy. The service was fast and efficient too.

6 of us had a dim sum lunch here and all the dishes were excellent...so delicious. We also ordered some of the vegetarian dishes and these were top notch also. Some of the staff do not speak English and the waiters donor announce the dishes as they are delivered to the table. But that was only a minor complaint. This... More

So we haven't had outstanding dim sum for many many years. Despite the quality not being up to Vancouver snuff (think Sun Sui Wah Richmond and Fortune), we still enjoyed eating reasonably good har gow (translucent thin skin, good prawns) and shiu mai. The cheung fun was also of correct consistency but it could do with more chili and perhaps... More

We went to this restaurant while in Vancouver and were so excited about the great asian food that we had heard was here. I was so frustrated that we had to pay for this meal! The food was recommended by the hotel we were staying at and was recommended by one of our guidebooks as well. My mom and I... More

We stayed at the Fairmont Pacific Rim and the concierge recommended Kirin. We arrived and it was 45 minutes before anyone took our order. I assume since we were not Asian we were ignored. Soup was delivered and it was marginal. Chicken and cashew was delivered and the presentation was awful- chicken was suspect and no seasoning in the dish.... More

The 3 of us decided to try their dim sum while we were in downtown. We had Pork & Preserved Egg Congee for $15.80 and Peatip for $22.80. We also had other dim sum items but reasonable price. Will we go back? Absolutely not!! Once is enough.

We went following a recommendation that Kirin did the best dim sum in town. It might, but only at lunchtime, and we went in the evening. The menu is extensive so we stated with crispy duck , which turned out to be crispy duck skin with a very few slices of duck meat. The prawn dish was generous but the... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
