Excellent food that kept us going all day, the staff are straight to the point And don't mince their words and contribute to that unique vibe. Some very tasty dishes, was our best meal during our 2 week stay in vancouver.

To laugh, maybe be shocked, listen in to server's communications with neighbouring table and a great meal at a reasonable price. If you are easily offended, go to a nice family restaurant, but if you are looking for a unique dining experience with great food, don't miss The Elbow Room! Definitely casual, not for young kids and an open mind... More

From the outside it just looks like a breakfast restaurant. But when you enter you find yourself in a very family unfriendly place. The photography and artwork is just disturbing, and the service staff, two older gentlemen, keep making disturbing sexual innuendos as they serve their food. Or, you get to hear disturbing conversation at nearby tables. All I can... More

Been here for breakfast/brunch on several occasions. It's always packed with customers which is invariably a good sign. There's a big menu, portions are huge and hearty. The staff are blunt, in your face and highly entertaining. Some may find their humour offensive, but it isn't meant that way and it's just a really fun place to eat. Sit back,... More

No one student. I felt gypped! Food was very good and wonderful choice of Benedict combos and omelettes. Coffee average even if you have to get up to get your own. The Schwartz' s of Vancouver.( A Montreal reference). Even has a musical about it.

First time visiting with our friends and we were warned beforehand. Didn't know what to expect, but was very pleased by the breakfast menu - such awesome choices and great food - big portions too! Our server fulfilled all the promises on the 'rules' as you walk in. Rude, obnoxious, funny, insulting, hilarious sometimes. We loved it!!! If you don't... More

I was aware that going to the Elbow could be a "risky" visit, in terms of how sassy the hosts usually are. So beginning the experience reading the rules of the place was very useful (just in case). However, Patrick was a great host. I enjoyed a lot chatting with him but definitely he made it difficult to other guests... More

This place is noted for its good, basic food and 'sarcastic' staff. The food was fine. The staff however seem to be failing wannabes who will do anything for attention. To the point of being quite obnoxious and rude, and don't know when to stop. Pathetic.

It's kind of hit or miss, but when Patrick's there, it's amazingly funny and crude. I've seen them berate children for asking for substitutions but the best time was bringing my girlfriend's Mom, who exclaimed to Patrick, "Hello, I'm soandso's mother" to which he said "I don't care WHO you are, shut up and order." So if you're into that... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
