I was aware that going to the Elbow could be a "risky" visit, in terms of how sassy the hosts usually are. So beginning the experience reading the rules of the place was very useful (just in case). However, Patrick was a great host. I enjoyed a lot chatting with him but definitely he made it difficult to other guests... More

Elbow room was a great place to grab a Friday breakfast. Lots of items to choose from. Clever combinations and descriptions. Service was quick and friendly.

This place is noted for its good, basic food and 'sarcastic' staff. The food was fine. The staff however seem to be failing wannabes who will do anything for attention. To the point of being quite obnoxious and rude, and don't know when to stop. Pathetic.

It's kind of hit or miss, but when Patrick's there, it's amazingly funny and crude. I've seen them berate children for asking for substitutions but the best time was bringing my girlfriend's Mom, who exclaimed to Patrick, "Hello, I'm soandso's mother" to which he said "I don't care WHO you are, shut up and order." So if you're into that... More

Fun staff, affordable breakfasts, good selection kept going back and it soon become a favourite. It also gets you talking to other customers which is nice. No bad comments at all for this lovely little place. Also try the brown bread it's the nicest I've had.

We have been coming to the establishment for years and I still, highly, highly recommend it! I personally guarantee you will not get any friendlier "abuse" from the staff, during your meal! It is a fun, most unique place in Vancouver and the experience you will remember for a very long time, leaving you wanting to come back to Vancouver!... More

Elbow Room is definately one of a kind! First went there around 10 years ago for breakfast of pancakes and coffee and have returned on every trip I have made to Vancouver. Yes, the food is great and very reasonably priced. But what makes this place stand out is the attitude of the servers - they attempt to be downright... More

The Elbow Room is one of my favourite places for breakfast in Vancouver, it's a wonderful atmosphere. The food is great, and the staff are a lot of fun! If you're easily offended, or just not a fan of cursing, this might not be the place for you. Otherwise, I hugely recommend it, a great place.

Entire reason for us going was the fact that it was supposed to be a novelty dining experience where staff would be catty/rude. Dining experience was pretty average, waitress was polite and checked on us 2 times. Food was definitely sub-par but I came in expecting that much because from what I've read food was not the highlight of the... More

Three points worth noting about the Elbow Room. First, the breakfasts are affordable. Probably cheaper than most breakfast place and a bargain compared to hotel restaurants. Secondly, the breakfasts are adequate. Servings are reasonable and since there is little that one can do to ruin an egg, taste doesn't falter. Sausages weren't to my liking but then, I often have... Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
