We haven’t been back to Vancouver in 8 years, so it was so nice to see the Sandbar on Granville Island doing a great job with their seafood and service. We weren’t famished so the wife had a 1/2 salad and we split a cedar-plank...salmon with that amazing glaze. Solomon provided extraordinary service; just a perfect lunch.More

Amazing food with amazing service. Our waitress was amazing and we had a hostess named Noura Ismael who spoke the same language as my brother who is not an English speaker and was extremely helpful and very nice to us. We loved this place and...definitely would come again !More

My family had a wonderful time at the sandbar and enjoyed the seafood tower together. One of the staff - Noura Ismail was particularly awesome, helpful and professional -she even came over and showed us the best way to crack and eat our crab.

Our trip to Vancouver had to include eating fresh seafood, so the locals pointed us to Granville Island and a handful of restaurant names. We began by taking a small ferry over to Granville and, starting from the dock, moved our way to every restaurant....This one to expensive and has no view, this one is too hot and is limited to one type of seafood, and this one has nothing appetizing. Then through some buildings, we saw a sign that said The Sandbar this way, so we followed. We were not disappointed; when you walk in, there is a fresh tank of crabs and oysters, and the hostess was so pleasant she let us wander around and pointed us straight to the top of an open patio with amazing views. The menu looked yummy, and the price was reasonable. Ashley, a server, said I'd seat you, and we ended up on the patio, and it's the best decision we made that day. We started with incredible cocktails and tried the oysters, the chowder, and split the fresh Sable (our first time eating sablefish). The fish was grilled on an open wood grill and was super yummy. It was lunch, so we were stuffed, but we had to try the Dungeness Crab Ashley suggested we returned in the late afternoon and told us to make reservations because the place gets packed at night with local music and locals. She was correct; we were lucky to have Ashley again as our server. We at more cocktails and a good glass of Red Wine from their excellent wine selection, and we finally had the crab. In addition, we had a slice of the chocolate cake, and we were done. I will be back and will eat here again. Again, the service, the food, the cocktails, the view from the patio, and our server Ashley made this a particularly memorable day. Thank you and see you soon...More

We had a great meal! The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked - our party had salmon, mahi-mahi, calamari, and clams. Amanda provided us excellent service. I recommend reservations for dinner as we were able to walk past a long line. We heard the hostess...saying the wait time was over an hour.More

We were told by our whale watching excursion to try this restaurant. It was the BEST! We sat by a window where we could see all the boats and people traveling near the docks. We had New England clam chowder, scallops, and shrimp cocktails. The...food was delicious and the atmosphere was terrific!More

Great seafood spot with a fun atmosphere. Excellent service provided by Heather. Our party of 7 loved everything but in particular the sushi, Dungeness crab, halibut and crab dip appetizer.

My partner and I were visiting from Toronto and had heard nothing but good things about Sandbar. It's safe to say that after our meal, we understand why! There was a small mix-up with our appetizer (which ended up only benefiting us), and Noura on...staff was nothing but kind, helpful, and speedy while dealing with it. You know those people who just kind of brighten your day even from a small interaction? That was her. A lovely soul. The food was incredible, we'd highly recommend the salmon or tuna, and Doug (our waiter) took the time to give us recommendations of stuff to do on Vancouver island. He reminded us of Johnny Depp in all the right ways, such a cool guy. If we ever return to the city, we'll be sure to stop by again.More

The Fairmont Pacific Rim Hôtel recommended the place and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is situated under a huge bridge facing the waterfront, just amazing. And the food was absolutely marvellous, also the service was very charming and attentive. Many thanks!
