Visited this Point Grey restaurant for a delicious lunch with my spouse and son. We thoroughly enjoyed the Mongolian lamb, Cumin beef, Hot & Sour soup and Beef Brisket Noodle soup. Hopefully we can return soon to try some other dishes. I asked a staff...member to recommended a lamb dish and she indicated that the Mongolian lamb is very popular with her customers. I can see why. It was very good. 4409 West 10th Avenue is their correct address.More

This is our go-to neighbouhood eatery for Szechuan - big portions, great flavours and very nice staff. Our faves- the house special ginger beef, szechuan green beans, chicken or veggie lettuce wraps, four kinds of mixed vegetables and diced chicken with cashew nuts.

When you want to have a quick fix for Chinese cuisine, go to this place. Service very fast, friendly staff! Food is fine, and, as I understand, NO MSG! There certainly may be some truth to that, since I don't get that MSG feeling after...eating their food.More

Our family with four generations present visited this local Point Grey restaurant for an enjoyable evening meal. The menu has a good variety of the dishes you would expect. Dinners for one two or more and a good variety seafood, pork, beef and tofu favourites....The service was excellent and the waitress even indulged my daughter-in-law by conversing with her in Mandarin. The décor was somewhat of a surprise in that it was more of a bistro setting than a traditional Chinese restaurant. There is a second floor eating area for those who like a little more privacy. My only really negative complaint is on more of a personal note. I find the presence of a TV screen in a restaurant a bit distracting and unappealing. Chinese restaurants are more about families eating and enjoying conversing together than they are about basketball games (even with the sound turned off.) I can understand the difference in opinions about the food here as some dishes were excellent, some were very good and others were just so… so. We ordered share dishes for everyone but my son who is on a restricted diet. His questions about the food ingredients and preparation techniques were answered quickly and honestly by our server. In our experience this is unusual as most servers don’t have a clue how the dishes are prepared and what sauces and spices are used and must consult with the kitchen staff. Heaven help anyone with food allergies if they get it wrong. The house rice dish was superb in fact it was probably the best rice dish I have encountered. I could have made this dish a meal of it on its own as it contained generous portions of both veggies and meat. The pork spare ribs were ok (few were a little too fatty) and I found the sauce too bland. We also had the traditional beef with broccoli to please my mother. This dish was the first to disappear as the broccoli was cooked just right but I found the meat to be over tenderized and sauce to be very bland. Some oyster sauce and/or other spices could have added a little zeal. The tofu with eggplant was very good. My son who said at the outset wasn’t very hungry polished off his pork dish and insisted on helping us with the vegetable tofu. All in all it was an enjoyable meal for a reasonable price. I would recommend the Ginger and Chili.More

Great little place where you can see the guy cooking hour meal thru the opening in the wall to the kitchen, nothing fancy, just Chinese food properly cooked. I had the cashew chicken and the portion was ample and tasty.

Ginger and Chili welcoming for lunch, with many choices on set menus, and for dinner, which a large menu. The food is traditional, tasty, and filling. The atmosphere is friendly. It is also excellent for delivery or takeout.

Husband and wife team Toby ( in the kitchen) and Dung ( meet and greet dept) have been serving up tasty Chinese dishes to generations of Point Greyers. There are no romantic illusions with the decor being true old Vancouver Chinese resyeraunts but pot lights...are a good advance on traditional flourescent tubes. Decor may not be a strong point but the food just flies out the front and back doors but the sevetal tables for those who want to eat in are comfortable with an upstairs section for those wanting a little privacy. My favorites are their regular wonton and their salt and pepper squid is a generous meal. A well priced district treasure. Free parking at the rear or half a block down the street. Their giant carp in the entrance way is an old family favorite and is not on the menu.More

When I use to go to school at UBC, I use to order Chinese food from this restaurant on a regular basis. The other day, I ordered about 5 dishes for a friend and I to share. I was very disappointed. The egg foo yung...was the worst that I ever had ... they made it like it was scrambled eggs! We also ordered deep fried squid with peppery salt ... the squid did not taste fresh and it was like rock to bite into. We also ordered an eggplant dish, Singapore rice vermicelli, and beef and broccoli ... all a disappointment. The poor quality of ingredients and cooking is a huge disappointment.More

Ginger and Chili used to be a reasonably priced very decent Chinese food restaurant. Over the years their food quality has decreased (fatty meats, flavourless sauces) and their prices continue to rise. I continue to crave their food and am unimpressed everytime I go. You...would think that I would learn my lesson. :(More

Don't waste your money. This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had in part 20+ years in Vancouver. Food was not warm enough and the sauce was wrong too. The service was terrible. We asked for recommendations but the waitress said no recommendation...and everything was on the menu. Honestly, don't go there. Even the worst homemade food will be better than that.More

I went here with my friends and son, something we didn't realize is common in Vancouver is that many of the restaurants close for a short time after lunch and reopen for dinner. Well we arrived 15 minutes before they were closing, but they agreed...to seat us and serve us. While you could tell they were in a hurry because they wanted a break, they were very friendly with us, had our food out very promptly, but were never rushed or given a feel that we were keeping the staff there. The food was delicious and very large portions. Bathrooms were nice and clean. I would definitely eat there again.More

This is a good local restaurant for Chinese food, and reasonably priced as well. Service is prompt to the point of overkill, making it good for a quick meal. While their food isn't greasy, they do tend to use a lot of peanut oil in...some dishes. Also, when they say a dish is spicy, they mean it! If you want them to tone down the heat, let them know...More

Since the # of Chinese restaurants in Vancouver are numerous, finding a good one that does not have numerous food inspection violations is hard to find let alone providing good food at reasonable prices. The service here is good and fast. It's not the high...end Sichuan but it's good food. It's been around since 1998 so it's obviously doing something right.More

This is a nice and convenient neighborhood Chinese restaurant. We enjoyed the minced beef with parsley soup, prawns with peppery salt (with shells), snow peas, shiitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots, orange peel pork and white rice. We managed to finish our meal as the dishes...are not large. While the cooking is geared towards the Caucasian patrons we found the dishes quite enjoyable.More
