When I use to go to school at UBC, I use to order Chinese food from this restaurant on a regular basis. The other day, I ordered about 5 dishes for a friend and I to share. I was very disappointed. The egg foo yung was the worst that I ever had ... they made it like it was scrambled... More

Ginger and Chili used to be a reasonably priced very decent Chinese food restaurant. Over the years their food quality has decreased (fatty meats, flavourless sauces) and their prices continue to rise. I continue to crave their food and am unimpressed everytime I go. You would think that I would learn my lesson. :(

Don't waste your money. This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had in part 20+ years in Vancouver. Food was not warm enough and the sauce was wrong too. The service was terrible. We asked for recommendations but the waitress said no recommendation and everything was on the menu. Honestly, don't go there. Even the worst homemade food... More

I went here with my friends and son, something we didn't realize is common in Vancouver is that many of the restaurants close for a short time after lunch and reopen for dinner. Well we arrived 15 minutes before they were closing, but they agreed to seat us and serve us. While you could tell they were in a hurry... More

This is a good local restaurant for Chinese food, and reasonably priced as well. Service is prompt to the point of overkill, making it good for a quick meal. While their food isn't greasy, they do tend to use a lot of peanut oil in some dishes. Also, when they say a dish is spicy, they mean it! If you... More

The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the Szechuan green beans! The waitress was kind and patient, and made some helpful recommendations for us. It's not fancy. It's just good food. I would definitely eat here again!

Since the # of Chinese restaurants in Vancouver are numerous, finding a good one that does not have numerous food inspection violations is hard to find let alone providing good food at reasonable prices. The service here is good and fast. It's not the high end Sichuan but it's good food. It's been around since 1998 so it's obviously doing... More

This is a nice and convenient neighborhood Chinese restaurant. We enjoyed the minced beef with parsley soup, prawns with peppery salt (with shells), snow peas, shiitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots, orange peel pork and white rice. We managed to finish our meal as the dishes are not large. While the cooking is geared towards the Caucasian patrons we found the... More

Prompt service. Tidy washroom. I came in for lunch. Food ok: beef special with soup was $9.25 plus tax. Unremarkable decor.

I always love going to Ginger and Chili. Love their Ginger Beef and everything always seems really fresh. Szechuan Green Beans aren't as good as they used to be but still really enjoy them. Orange Peel Chicken also excellent and there are so many wonderful things on the menu. I always try to visit several times when I'm in Vancouver... More

Staying in West Point Grey

Neighbourhood Profile
West Point Grey
West Point Grey is one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, especially known for its easygoing and admired beachfronts. Locals crowd the Spanish Banks and Jericho Beach, especially in the summer, where a sprawling view of the English Bay awaits. The central village is an oasis of sovereign shops, many of them in local operation for years. The neighbourhood has a more personal feeling to it, and can be a wonderful and much-needed break from the bustle of big-city life, being a little haven of peace and quiet with an almost village temperament in the heart of Vancouver.
