This was an excellent restaurant; close to our hotel and great food. We both had fish and both of us commented it was some of the best we’d ever had. Service was excellent

I visited the Italian Kitchen after a long flight from London. I was a bit upside down but the staff were very kind and the food was great. I had a lunch special - sandwich, soup and salad. Each was divine, in its own way,...with lovely attention to detail. Went down beautifully with a glass of red. Thank you guys!More

Amazing restaurant, Shane was the perfect host. The food selections are plentiful for every palate. We had the Carbonara with Guincale and the Cacio e Pepe with lobster and truffles. Both where outstanding and the Brussels sprouts also delicious. Then came home the artsy part...of the meal , dessert. My Pina Colada Cake with pineapple and Wifey,s Pistachio Panacoda was a work of art, both yummy. While in Vancouver go to the Italian Kitchen you will not be disappointed.More

The service and location were great, the food not so much. You would expect an Italian restaurant to have great food but this place misses the mark. Our Caesar salad was dry and the main course (the special) was soggy green noodles with tiny spot...prawns. And to add to the disappointing dinner was that it was outrageously expensive, $45 for a small bowl of noodles and five small prawns. With all the fantastic restaurants in Vancouver I would definitely give this place a miss.More

As retirees and foodies, we seek value with our dining dollars, and this place is on the splurge side for us. We were promptly seated at our reserved table for two while a couple ahead of were asked to wait, so things began perfectly. The...sweet waitress asked if she could bring ice water. I said ice for my wife and none for me. She returned with a pitcher of ice water and filled both glasses from it, not even trying to get ice into my wife's. Next came a quarter cup of oil with balsamic deeply under it in a dipping dish. There was at least a quarter inch of oil before we could reach the vinegar. Next came two tiny slices of boring white bread the dimensions of half a banana and less than half an inch (1.2 cm?) thick. I don't care how innovative the chef is, good bread is available all over Vancouver, and this wasn't. The simplest alley bistro in all of Italy would never serve bread as bad as this, and the oil itself had an off taste, but the waitress said they put nothing in it but the balsamic. We split a calamari starter. Pleasantly spiced and properly crisp, but no dipping sauce. I don't recall that ever happening in Italy, Greece, or anywhere else. In my experience you get marinara with calamari in Italy, and in North America the dipping sauce is more commonly white and tangy. Innovation by reduction to zero is a curious approach. Both specials sounded good so we each tried one. The half lobster tail one came on something like risotto, but was not called that; the flavor was dominated by black pepper. One reviewer mentioned a loonie sized portion of lobster. This might have been a toonie's worth; half of the smallest rock lobster tail ever, and cooked beyond that succulent point that makes lobster special. Having spent the day before at Van Dusen Gardens I was seduced by nettles & fiddleheads in the pasta special. The pasta itself had a name no one would recognize, because the waitress began describing it as soon as I showed interest. I suggested her description made it sound a bit like fusilli, and she answered something like "Sort of." It turned out to be thick, pinkie sized blobs of mealy dough topped with swordfish slices, which turned out to be by far the only enjoyable part of the dish. Often when I'm disappointed in a meal I own up to making the wrong choice, but this dish would be wrong for anyone. The pasta itself was neither al dente nor over cooked and wimpy. It was more the texture of a soggy Fench fry with no real flavor and no sauce to pep it up. Innovation has its place in the food biz. Boring does not. One more thing I'd normally dismiss if most of the rest of the meal was enjoyable, when our orders came they were placed backward to what we had ordered. I've read good help has been difficult to get in the hospitality biz post-pandemic, and in a small, local bistro I'm not in the slightest offended when a waitperson arrives with food and asks, 'who had the...' but in a national chain establishment that claims excellence, surely the first day of training would include how to read the ticket and deliver plates to the proper customer. The place was attractive and bustling, the wine mark-up wasn't badly out of bounds (only one BC wine in the by the glass offerings - a gewürtztraminer that was quite nice), and as I said the waitress was sweet and attentive. With a group where style was important and no one was paying so much attention to the food, I can see this would be an ok place to meet, but when there are two specials on the menu and both are poor, I doubt we'll give any Glowbal establishment a second chance.More

We were in Vancouver recently for a couple of days before embarking on a cruise. The Italian Kitchen was very near our hotel, and was recommended to us by the cruise company hostess. What a great find! The restaurant is charming, and they have a...daily happy hour from 2:30 - 5:30 pm. There are special prices on wine and specials on some of their dishes. We had the antipasto platter for two, and it was so good. It is plenty of food for two as a light dinner. We were so pleased with the restaurant that we went back our second night. We had the pasta platter, which is under the "sharing" portion of the menu. It had four types of pasta and is plenty for a dinner for two. The second night we had an amazing server, Khalil, who was simply delightful. If we are ever in Vancouver again, we wouldn't hesitate to return to the Italian Kitchen.More

Pretty loud. Another amazing place is Gothem Steakhouse. They have a outside patio that looks like a garden and is heated. Very romantic 👍💕
