This is one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. One of the draws for me is the eclectic live performances. On our last visit there was an African musician dressed in African attire with a full headdress of feathers and traditional instruments. Then of course there's the food. They have an excellent choice of wraps and curry dishes, but if... More

a very nice restaurant in Kitsilano, one of the best neighbourhoods of west Vancouver. Special decor, natural wood tables and benches, eastern cushions, curtains and lighting fixtures, all add to the special atmosphere that this cozy restaurant offers.. the experience is topped with delicious big selection of food and great service. it is one of Kitsilano's hidden jewels.

Of all the restaurants we were invited to during out two week stay, this stood out for its authenticity and ambience. A great place to eat with a group of friends. The lamb was outstanding and all the dishes we ordered were tasty and colourful. They do quite a selection. Be prepared to be full :)

Recommended by friends as the "best Indian restaurant" in Vancouver, East is East offers a mixture of Afghan dishes, north and south Indian, Tibetan, and Asian fusion items like miso salmon. The decor is attractively accented by tribal rugs and pillows. The thali (a multi-item platter) is billed as Silk Route Feast and includes two main dishes, plus roti, boulani... More

We loved the decor, the food the service. A very, very interesting menu and tasting opportunity. Every dish was tasty and different. The blend of spices, sauces, etc. The ambiance is warm with carpets all over the place. We had such a great time. My husband who lived in India was absolutely ecstatic about the place. This was not just... More

The place is set up as authentic as the name says. So is the food. Excellent service as well. The tea has room for improvement though.

The combination of the decor, the wooden tables and chairs, the haunting music, the friendly servers and the delicious food makes this a must do in Vancouver. Very happening. Plus free chai. Can't beat this.

We were looking to go to a nice place and enjoy a nice meal and a bottle of wine! They don't serve alcohol. It's ok, but I would recommend for something casual or lunch! My husband went to liquor store and bought a bottle. They charged us a 20$ cork fee. The food is fabulous and the waitress super super... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
