This is a classic British pub with a classic interior in the Bastion Square area. We were there before 9:00 am and most things on the menu were $9.99 which was a great bargain. My wife had the Croque Madame and I had the full...English breakfast (which was not discounted but I did not mind at all). The food was delicious. A very good breakfast and I recommend it highly.More

Wow, Victoria has so many great pubs to visit. The atmosphere is very warm, upscale and welcoming. Service was on the mark. Crispy calamari with tangy tzatziki sauce is a good appetizer. Really enjoyed the Salmon Wellington on wild rice with perfectly cooked veggies. The...Truffle Chicken Kiev was delicious. Food came hot and reasonable portions. We will be back for more!More

As promised Jasmine, you deserve your headline and my recommendation for visitors from England. Victoria is a picturesque city in the far off Vancouver Island, the Bard & Banker is one of several traditional pubs on the main street. They serve a fabulous steak &...ale pie with proper chips and gravy. It has a very British feel dating back to colonial explorers , it's clean, calm and orderly but a long way from Blighty. If you're going to Vancouver, save a day to visit and tell Jasmine I sent you.More

Beautiful building. Great spot for drinks and food. Superb food menu at very reasonable prices. Friendly bar staff. Girls who are wait staff are all in very shirt skirts not sure why, perhaps in fitting with the culture of the pub.

We went for the atmosphere - a gorgeous old bank building - and the live music, so the good food was a bonus. Lots of seating, lots of joyful noise, nightly drink specials.

Our visit to Bard & Banker overall was very pleasant. Both the host (sorry I don't know his name) and server Jazmine were so friendly and kind each offering exceptional customer service. Jazmine steered us in the right direction with our food and drink orders...and her vibrant personality made our time at B&B so much fun. Thank you for a great way to escape the mini rainstorm that we got caught up in! :)More

The food was overpriced and in my seafood dish the octopus was so tough I struggled to cut it into smaller pieces. The waitress was indifferent and the service slow.

Over a 4 day period I visited the B&B 3 times, once on my own for food and wine, 2nd visit for after dinner drinks in a group of 12, the 3rd visit in the same group of 12 for a pre booked business dinner...on the Balcony. The decor and ambiance of this place is wonderful, live music every night we were in and great staff - sadly there was issues! Visit 1 - on my own, ordered the rotisserie chicken but with fries and veggies - no sauces! Came out covered in gravy, the server took it back and it took 35 mins for my replacement. Visit 2 - just for drinks in a group of 12 - great service from Dana (?) a perfect server. Visit 3 - booked weeks in advance for a meal, we booked the balcony area, we moved the tables to suit our group but this didn’t cause a problem to the staff. Sadly the food let us down from a few items not being available (seafood tower / platter &crab cakes) again my chicken was messed us - the chef likes to put gravy on everything lol - I did let the server know of my problem from 2 nights previous - but as the mains were being served she informed me that the kitchen had again smothered my dinner in gravy and it was the last one available - we worked around it though but my dinner arrived 15 mins after everyone else. Sadly on both occasions of the food screw ups no comps were offered (a dessert or drink to make up for the silly mistakes) We spent several thousand $ over the 3 visits.More

Stopped in here initially for a drink to escape the rain but when in situ decided so stay for late lunch/early dinner as the food being served looked good. We ordered lobster & shrimp roll (good) 2x f&c (good), hot chicken burger (lovely) and some...sharing sides including Mac n cheese and cauliflower wings - all of which were good. It’s a lovely interesting interior and we happened to be there when a bagpipe player came in, did some sort of salute and played for a couple of minutes. All in all a good standard meal (nothing fancy) with a great environment.More

I never write reviews, but since this is a health and safety issue I felt obligated to warn others. Worst quality food ever. Food inspection officials should shut this place down, and I’ll follow up when I get back from vacation. Raw fish was old...and has a slimy touch to it (I got the manager to touch the slimy salmon of the poke bowl dish of my daughter). Raw oysters had a runny creamy yuck coming out of them. Linguini seafood pasta had virtually no seafood in it, and the sauce was runny like water. Grilled prawns were burned as if a child cooked them, and the grilled salmon was beyond over-cooked on low heat to the point my son spat it out from its rubbery taste. Fries were basically crumbs of an over-fried “thing” that you won’t recognize that it is potatoes. We paid about $250 and didn’t eat a thing. Manager saw some of the plates that we didn’t eat after the waitress had taken the rest to the garbage. Manager said it’s unfortunate and unacceptable and he will speak with the chef, but he won’t offer us any refunds or discounts. He said that he can give us a drink on the house (after we were already out). Two less-important side notes: (1) they were out of almost everything we asked for (at 6:30 pm!!), so we opted for whatever they had. (2) They have the minimum recommended tip set at 18% which I have not seen before (we are Canadian tourists visiting BC for two weeks).More

Beautiful, old pub! The woodwork is amazing and full of history. The service was very good and as were the drinks and food. We had the lobster and shrimp roll and found it great!
