We are a family run breakfast and lunch Cafe located in the heart of Esquimalt, Victoria BC. With friendly staff, featuring local artists shows and funky music you should defiantly check us out! We have a beautiful patio and we are fully licensed. We carry a variety of vegetarian and vegan options.

Easy Breakfast

We were looking for a quick, not overpriced breakfast. We found it! An easy stop in Esquimalt this tiny street side cafe offers quite the selection for breakfast fare. I ordered the eggs bene and my husband had a traditional breakfast. Coffee was fantastic ! Prices were reasonable. I live the option of tomatoes as a side with breakfast ! Cute little place.

Small cafe, excellent food!

We just came back from lunch at this quaint non fancy little cafe, and although they have all day breakfast, I chose the Swiss Burger and I have to say, this was the best burger I have ever had. The homemade Pattie was cooked perfectly, topped with cheese and mushrooms, delicious, and although they don't have fries, I got it with the homemade hash browns. They were so good. The atmosphere was very friendly and inviting, and the prices were very reasonable for good, homestyle food. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in Victoria.

Always friendly, never disappoint!

Sunnyside Cafe is our "go-to" place in Victoria for our regular weekend breakfasts and for my lunch meetings with clients during the week. For value and quality, Steph, Brendan and their friendly staff serve one of the best breakfast and lunch experiences in Victoria. Sunnyside is very popular, so expect a bit of a line-up at peak times. If you're patient, you will be rewarded.

Charming restaurant

I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was hot and full of scrambled eggs and sausage chunks. My husband ordered a fruit smoothie as he is on a juice fast. Service was quick by the owner, and we were happy to get an inside seat. A little cool for the patio. Lots of artwork on the walls and the place is impeccable overall.

My son and I went for brunch. I got the classic eggs benny, and my son got the BLT. It was a little chilly as the door was open, but food came quickly. I love eggs benny and hollandaise sauce, so I was surprised to taste a herb in the hollandaise that I couldn't quite place, except that it reminded me of cinnamon. I didn't care for it. I asked the owner what it was, and he explained it was tarragon, and that people come there especially because they love this unique addition to the hollandaise. The owner asked if he could make me something else, and I said it was okay that my son liked it. But the owner persisted saying he could make me some eggs and toast. I said sure, one egg and toast would be great. He then made an egg with 2 full slices of bread and bacon. It was delicious. Eggs perfectly done, as they were for the eggs benny too. I appreciate the care. I will definitely return to try some of their other breakfast options.

Yuck and dirty

Went for breakfast the other day. Person I went with wanted to go. It’s disgustingly dirty little place. The food was greasy and tasteless except for the copious amounts of salt. Also masks were not always being warn but staff. I did not eat my food and will never go back

Not Enforcing ANY Covid-19 protocols. Gross food too.

Staff not wearing masks (while cooking!) and no one required to have vaccination. Would be one thing but also the hollandaise is terrible and my dad had the worst huevos rancheros he’s ever had. Don’t bother, Esquimalt is also gross anyways.

Unfriendly staff and a cook not wearing her mask properly.

Walked to this breakfast spot. You order before you sit down. We waited while three people ordered in front of us. When they left, we stepped up and the two waitresses virtually ignored us and walked by us several times with not even a smile or a good morning. In these COVID times, when business has been slow you would think cafes would welcome visitors. We grew tired of waiting and left. I would not recommend this place. It is small and unfriendly.

Dark, dingy, and DIRTY

This place was GROSS. The entire place smells sickly sweet, like cherry floor cleaner mixed with urine. The interior is run down and dirty...would it kill you wipe down the surfaces every now and then?? There are literal stains running down the walls and dust on the tops of everything. I was going to stay for brunch but I ended up getting a coffee instead... which was luke-warm and weak. What a disappointment. There are so many other better brunch places in Victoria. This place is nasty as hell.

GOOD PLACE FOR BREAKFAST

Our first visit we had to wait for a table, It is a small place, But does have outside seating for those who can brave the cold in February. Staff are friendly and wearing a MASK is optional. (the way it should be.) Food is very good, Went for our second visit today and where the first ones in the door. It does not get 5 stars as the Coffee is not great, This is the West Coast and we like good coffee, That said, Most restaurants have crappy coffee, Which is why there is a coffee shop on most corners in town. Well worth a visit.

Amazing in every way

Just recently moved to the island and i'm so happy to have found this restaurant. The staff is very friendly, the service is fantastic and the food will blow your mind. The flavors put together in their dishes and daily specials are beautiful. Would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone coming to the island. It's worth going out of your way for.

Pleasantly surprised.

I was a bit skeptical given the number of mediocre breakfast joints in Victoria. This place has become a favourite and prices are good, especially for Victoria. Best hollandaise sauce outside of my mother kitchen and very friendly staff. As with most breakfast places, there was a line but this one is worth the wait.

Great breakfast

Good coffee. Service was great and real friendly. I had the breakfast burrito both days I went. I was so glad I came back the following morning too. On Sunday morning at 0804 hrs the place was packed. It must be because the food is so good.

Best Eggs Benny in Victoria

Sunnyside gave us incredibly quick service considering how slammed they were! We lined up outside in the rain and it was WORTH IT! The restaurant is clean, cozy and organized. The staff are hard working and friendly. Most of all, the food is incredible! The Saxe Point Benny is the best eggs benedict I’ve had in a restaurant to date. I highly recommend trying this place out!

Ive had lunch here on occasion while working close by. Never had to wait to long at all, even during a lunch rush. Ive been to a lot of “greasy spoons” this IS NOT one of them. staff were super friendly and promt. 5 stars all day long.
