Small and intimate place with great service and delicious food.
This place is mostly about breakfast, but all day till 2 pm.
We had a daily special eggs Benedict on biscuits with sausage and delicious sauce.
They had no problem splitting one serving onto 2 plates since we were not overly hungry at lunch time.
Had a tasty cafe latte with spice as well.
I’d come here again in a moment with a bigger appetite as there was lots of offerings that sounded great.

We’ve enjoyed the Shine breakfast for over a year now. People that work there are so pleasant and so focused on good customer service. We have tried a few menu items but keep coming back to the Shine breakfast. The coffee is always good, with a nice strong finish. And its bottomless for those who want a real morning jolt.
We rate the place highly, but would up the score if they would do a couple things to put it on par with ‘The Fox’: first, for the price, please provide 3 strips of bacon. Two, provide a larger plate that actually provides space to eat the meal !
A great place overall. And thanks for your great service. Keep up the good work.

Wow I am amazed by the service and the compassion of the people who supported us during our dog loss. Thank you Shine cafe for making our day better after a sad loss, our 2 year old husky passed away the night before due to a heart issue. It was hard to get out of the house but we needed a nutritious meal and distraction. The food really helped us and the act of kindness was what we needed during that tough time. We appreciate you!

I’ve been going to Shine regularly over the past 20 years and I’ve always considered it to be a pretty good option. It’s never had the quality or ambiance of the downtown staples like the Blue Fox or John’s Place but it was reasonable. However, it now wants top dollar for a mediocre offering. The coffee was $4.25 but weak. There were two thin strips of bacon and eggs that weren’t heralded as free range or organic. Once you added a tip it came to $27 - not great value or quality. Yes, there was a line forming outside so it’s still popular but I sense it’s still trading on past reputation.

The actual food was ok....muffin was burnt but eggs were done perfectly and hollandaisr sauce is delicious!!
However the cost was the highest in town. 20 bucks for just a Benny - just 2 eggs- and then they charge on top of that for a side of fruit!!!
The wait was very prolonged and things seemed disorganized. However everyone was sweet and trying their best. Just understaffed I guess

Very over priced and basic, on the whole disappointing for the price. Had 2/2/2 basically two eggs, two slices of French toast and 3 small slices of avocados...for $23! Yikes! My sons chocolate pancakes were also very small and basic.

The food is good , as was our sever , however I sat facing a mirror , and looking at this kind of turned my stomach .
Clean the mirrors . The dirt we see in the public area makes us wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen .

Excellent service and our eggs Benny so delicious so much flavour. This place is great small only 6 tables and that is because of covid to be spaced apart. I had Garden City Benny and the sauce had so much flavour along with the hash-browns. It is a bit prices like most great restaurants however well worth every Penny.

Friendly staff, covid protocols in place, wonderful food and good atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Our waitress was Marnie - every restaurant could use someone like you! I look forward to our return visit.

Very nice cafe/restaurant, we are fortunate that they are located in our neighbourhood. Eggs benny are favourites when we visit, but the menu is varied. Often quite busy, wonderful service (you would be lucky to have Mariah C. look after you...her personality is so positive). We love going to the Shine Cafe!

My husband & I went to this classic family owned cafe for breakfast with friends. 3 of us had the classic Benny & 1 had the California Benny as well as coffee & lattes. All were good, although I would have liked a bit more hollandaise sauce. Service was friendly & efficient. We arrived at noon on a Sunday and had a bit of a wait, but surprisingly not for very long. This busy spot has classic old time neighbourhood charm. Relatively small room with interesting artwork. Not inexpensive but we will certainly be back to try other menu items.

This restaurant does not have a lot of space, but it's cozy and great ambience. There were families there, and all kinds of people. One can tell it's a local favourite. We had the regular Eggs Benny and it was excellent. The ham was substantial and the sauce was perfect. My friend had the bacon and eggs and it was good as well. Lots of food for the money. The coffee was great! I'm fussy about my coffee, typically it's not strong enough, but it surpassed my expectations. Be prepared to stand in a line up if you are there on a weekend for brunch.

Stopped by mid morning and were promptly seated. This was the last day that vaccine passports were needed. These folks were diligent. Then the rest of the meal. Very good. As was the service. A very nice young fella that did a great job. Thank you.

Stopped in for breakfast while staying in Downtown Victoria. I really liked the chorizo and the crispy jalapeños in the Sierra Omelette. Staff was very friendly. The restaurant is clearly a local favorite.
