We wanted a hearty breakfast before a day of travel and boy did Jam Cafe deliver! There was a short queue when we arrived about 9am but we were very quickly seated. Really great buzz about the place; combination of really lovely staff and quality music! Great to be able to get a little fruit salad that had the perfect balance of sweet and tart fresh fruit. Highly recommend the Fernando chorizo hash and the veggie bowl. Despite the delicious flavours of the veggie bowl, it beat me - just too much food! If we hadn’t been travelling over to the mainland later we’d have taken the doggie bag offered. I didn’t need to eat again that day and would suggest smaller portions and marginally lower prices might be more responsible. However, we loved Jam Cafe and would return in a heartbeat!

Perfection both service and food. If you want a savoury or sweet breakfast or brunch Jam delivers consistently excellent food and service year in and year out. Its that simple. Small and busy with in a retro dinner decor.

Always a line to get in here, the food is very good especially the eggs benny. It is a small space and it can get quite loud and crowded so we prefer to eat on the patio. Only issue was they couldn’t provide eggs or bacon that were dairy free here, which was fairly disappointing. For a kid with a dairy allergy options are very limited . There is one vegan bowl but that’s it. Maybe time to expand the menu or get the chef to be a bit more flexible?

We went for breakfast; it was very disappointing. One of us had a half order of the Avocado Eggs Benedict and the other, a full order of the Pork Belly Eggs Benedict. First, let me say that the eggs, which were asked for as poached medium, were perfect. However, the English Muffins on both orders were toasted so much that it was difficult to cut them with a steak knife. The Pork Belly was overcooked to the point where part of it could not be cut with a steak knife and tasted burnt. Part of it was OK. Each order had a small, in our opinion, insufficient amount, of Hollandaise Sauce - perhaps a tablespoon and a half, but not much more. Also, the sauce was very clarity, not made in-house and tasted as if it came from a commercial supplier in bulk. the total cost with two lattes was around $70. Poor value for the money.

We had read so much about Jam, so we decided to get there early enough to get in.
Always a line up (good they have a bit of a canopy for rain). We thought the food was well prepared and the coffee was good as well. It would have been nice to try their jam, but they were quite stingy, offering one narrow slice of toast instead of two - the eggs did the only slice in!! The bacon was delicious, though their version of 'crisp' was actually on the rubbery side. The orange juice (one of the most expensive versions) was fine. Service by 'the Jammers' was good.
Comparatively, is this the best place in Victoria? Nope.
That standing still belongs to the Fox, with comparable quality, two slices of toast (on a separate plate), better juice value and a better potato offering. And, incredulously, the Fox doesn't have a surcharge for peanut butter (are you kidding?) !!!
And Shine isn't all that bad either - add them both to your breakfast restaurant list.

The coffee drink was okay but it was downhill from there. I couldn’t have eggs over medium well because “that option isn’t in the computer”. Not wanting to take a chance on eggs being too runny for my taste, I ordered scrambled. They were ok but very bland. The hash browns looked like a wash cloth that had been left in the sink in a pile of grease. His bacon looked like a hunk of fried ham. The server was nice and was concerned we didn’t eat much but the food was really awful. Quite expensive - over $50 for what ended up being a couple of coffees and some eggs. Not sure what the hype is about. Won’t be rushing back

A wide variety of brunch items! We ordered the cold smoked salmon & asparagus and pork belly eggs benedict. Both were large delicious portions with hashbrowns -
We went on a Tuesday at 11 & had to wait a small bit but soo worth it. Staff recommends going right at opening if waiting isn't your jam -

Ordered during a period that wasn't particularly busy with tables still available so I would expect that the food would arrive warm but the eggs were cold on both of our orders. My wife ordered eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was practically non existent. The coffee was like drinking warm coloured water and had no taste. I just don't understand what the hype with this place is all about.

Food was good and lots of choices. Service was also good. Quite busy and also quite noisy. We didn’t like sitting at the small tables that are not spaced very far apart. You felt like you were sitting at each other’s table. The space between was so tight you have to turn sideways and watch your jacket doesn’t hit the other diners food. For those reasons we won’t go back.

Shocked because of the hype this place gets, I was excited for my meal especially as a local . my food came luke warm as did everyones at my table. I was keen to finally eat here as I've always dodged this place because of the wait, it wasn’t worth it. The waitress seemed sincere for the lack of standard but as soon as the manager came over he professed he wasn’t going to give us a discount because he “checked the temperature himself” lol obviously not. Offered to remake our food or give us pancakes? after we we’re already half way through and just wanting to get out of there at that point. I could rant about how uncomfortable he made me feel, only because he served me cold food but for the reviews sake, I’ll just say that I have the privilege of messing up my own food at home. I’ll spending a few dollars less for hot decent food thats clearly made by people who care about what they serve out only at places like spoons from now on. Honestly the worst breakfast I’ve had in the city. Not just because of the food.

Jam is a little way from the main tourist section of Victoria but it made a nice morning walk along the waterfront from our hotel. As its late winter there were no people in the outside eating area but once we opened the door it was warm and buzzing inside. We were lucky to get a table so obviously a good reputation. There was an extensive menu of yummy breakfast dishes including about 6 variations on eggs benny. There service was really attentive and we were served our coffee and breakfast very quickly. The food was very tasty and the decor is a nice rustic cafe style. I asked for a flat white coffee which is my usual beverage in Australia, which there were able to do, but Aussies would be disappointed. On reflection I should have asked for an espresso with some warm milk, otherwise a great find on a short visit to Victoria.

We arrived early but still found a queue. We waited 10-15 mins to get a table and it was unfortunate for us that we required a high chair so could not sit outside so many smaller parties behind us were seated sooner. We did consider leaving but decided to wait and we were glad that we did.
The menu is extensive and lots to tempt you! I had the eggs Benedict and it was delicious. My children chose the cinnamon pancakes - huge portions which came with fruit. These were tasty too. The coffee was excellent and I’m not usually a coffee drinker. Portions were generous and service was friendly and efficient. Would most definitely recommend visiting.

Really fantastic breakfast place. Definitely the best we’ve found in Victoria. Hard pressed to find a bad dish here. Kids love it too. Not cheap ($8 for a side of delicious bacon) but if you want to save a few bucks split breakfast with your partner. That’s what we did and left full and happy. Tip is to get there between 8-8:30 if you want to avoid a wait.

We went to the Jam Cafe for breakfast on a Monday morning at 10 am in late September. We got lucky with no line but think we were the last to get a table. It is a small restaurant and was packed with every table full. You do sit quite close to other people but it was fine. The interior decor is eclectic with fun vintage items to look at.
Service was great and we quickly ordered the Classic Jam Bacon Caesar. The sugar cured bacon was fantastic. So much so that my husband ordered the Blackstone Benny for more bacon while I got the Pork Belly Benny. Both tasted great. Several other items coming out of the kitchen also looked delicious. Wonderful food and atmosphere. Would not hesitate to eat at Jam Cafe again. We are still talking about the sugar cured bacon!

Just had breakfast at Jam. Mix up with my order, not only did our server apologize and take ownership of it, the owner/manager (?) came out to apologize and brought a massive fruit cup for me to nibble on while I waited for my food. My teenage boys left over full, husband enjoyed every bite. Between my fresh squeezed grapefruit mimosa and the fruit salad I was almost too full to enjoy the chilaquiles when they got there (very quickly even though the restaurant was packed on a Wednesday at 9am). So thoroughly impressed with the food, drink, atmosphere, and service. Well worth the 20min wait to get in!
