Wings are always pretty solid there, and the choices are good for sauces, etc...Pretty quick to get your food, etc...and always a pretty lively atmosphere there.

Really great burger, Nice soft bun, you pick your options: cheese, mushrooms, comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion. I ordered the Chipotle mayo from the selection of mayonnaise that they offer and wish I had ordered Pesto mayo, because it was a little too spicy and I couldn’t really taste anything else. My girlfriend had peanut satay wings and they were also too spicy, which she didn’t expect. Peanut satay isn’t usually that spicy, in our experience. The Ceaser salads were pretty good except the croutons were burnt on the side. Otherwise would have been really tasty. My Sweetie had a Mocha, Bailey’s spiked milkshake which tasted like caramel; Perhaps they mistakenly gave her the caramel shake which was another option? I had Phillips Short Wave, a nice pale ale but not hoppy enough for me. I prefer the Session IPAs which are hoppy but not too strong in abv. It’s hard to find them in Pubs and Restaurants and the regular IPAs are too strong or in this restaurant ‘s case the IPA was based on a Wheat beer formula that I don’t like!

We stopped in for a little something and discovered some really delicious wings. Self serve and clean environment. Food was prompt, fresh and delicious. Watched some sports that was on the TV's. Seems to be a great little neighbourhood spot

Looking for a Gluten Free feast - and this was the place to be!!! A dedicated frier. Friendly service serving excellent boneless wings and a generous serving of fries topped off the lunch experience! There is nothing like this available where I live. I'll definitely be returning on my next visit to Victoria.

Tartan Touque so good! Under new mangement They renovated the place approx 1 year ago, its a very nice atmosphere and the food was amazing. Had 1/2 lb Wings - Peanut Satay and the Blue Wally salad. I live in the neighbourhood and decided to give them a try today as I had not been here in long time. New management was a welcome surprise and the vibe was friendly and inviting. I will be back to try the poutine for sure!

Outstanding gluten free salmon sandwich and fries. The entire menu is GF except for the wraps and a couple of sauces. What a treat! Great staff and music too.

Stopped in at this restaurant to try the wings. 3 orders of wings and all were about the worst wings that I had ever had (and I’ve been eating wings for decades...). Wings were most likely very old and very freezer burned. I’ve never had wings that were dried out to the bone. Anyone that has ever fried wings knows that the process of cooking them locks in the juiciness. Can’t really make a mistake unless you tried. I feel that tried in this case.

My daughter, hubby & I went to the Tartan Toque last weekend! Truly enjoyed this small - casual - restaurant! Hubby was extrememly impressed with the wings & poutine. Being from Montreal, he liked that the poutine was like an authentic poutine from Quebec! Great flavors! For the beer on tap, it was Phillips beer. We liked that they were supporting the local breweries! The guys/servers were very friendly/fast! Great place for beer/wings/burgers, etc. Next time visiting Victoria, we will be back! :)

My experience at the Tartan Toque was so disappointing that I will not be back. The tall blonde waitress was so rude. Apparently the restaurant closes at 9:00 pm. There were about 5 tables still there, we were still eating, tables of guys were watching the playoffs. She looked so pissed off to be there and to have customers there still. Ummm, when a restaurant closes it's doors but still has clients, do you still not have to be respectful of your patrons. At exactly 9:01 pm she turned all the tv's off with such venom. She clearly was annoyed to still have customers in the restaurant. She then started piling chairs on the tables in a noisy fashion and put on some very loud aggressive music. Point taken. You don't want us there, we won't be back.

Have gone to Tartan Toque a few times and never disappointed. Very friendly staff, great wings, burgers, fries and beers. Great place to spend time with family and friends, maybe watch a hockey game and try the great selection of dips for the wings.

As soon as you go in through the door, you know what type of place this is. The decor, staff and menu are simple and straightforward, with a slightly rougher, less polished vibe than most places outside of Big Bad John's or Logan's. I did like that there were a lot of choices for wings, and you could get boneless chicken bites too, though the prices were a bit of a reach. The poutine was super forgettable, and they don't have a very big selection of beers to choose from. That being said, if you're just looking for a wing fix, this is a decent choice. If I had the chance, I'd probably go back to give some of their other flavours a shot, as both the Buffalo and sweet chili were pretty good.

Edge of Oak Bay heading down to the core this neighbourhood place is a popular hang-out for locals young and not as young. Good chicken wings with home made sauces as well as combo...this is fast food but they do a fresh decent salad and no snark. Staff was nice and the place ain't fancy but good unpreteniousness...tucked away in a plaza...always busy...

Took my partner here to try the wings as I had been on a few occasions and like to try new kinds every time I visit. He was pleasantly surprised that he could get boneless wings since he doesn't like getting sauce all over his hands (no joke). We were highly entertained by both the staff and that we got to watch Dirty Dancing on tv while we ate. I had the green curry wings and the peanut satay wings, lots of sauce on them and a good amount of flavour. I can't remember what kind of wings my guy had though as he liked them a lot and wouldn't share. Any day where you get to have some great wings, a cold beer and watch 80's flicks on tv is a pretty great day.

The Tartan Toque, which first opened its doors in 2012 to much fanfare, markets itself as “Victoria’s premier wing restaurant.” I feel the name is apt because Victoria is not home to, say, the chain restaurant “Wings,” nor are there any wing-specific eateries in town . . . except for the Tartan Toque. So, they’re not bragging or telling falsehoods when they say they’re the first (and so far only) “real” wing restaurant in the city. To help back up this claim, the Tartan Toque has over 20 wing flavours (both wet and dry) – all of which are prepared in-house – and thus sure to please a variety of tastes. I consider myself to be something of a wing aficionado – they’re one of my all-time favourite foods and, so, when my partner heard about this place via a work colleague, we just *had* to check it out. When we arrived for lunch, I immediately took note of the décor. It looked to me like some kind of weird cross between traditional pub (flooring, beams along the walls) and modern hipster eatery (postmodern paintings on the walls + one wall of clocks). The large Marlin on the wall was also kind of noteworthy and left me wondering if this was a leftover from the space’s previous history (fish and chips). Anyway, I grabbed a table while my partner placed our order. I tried a half-pound of the mango jalapeno wings, a half-pound of the inferno wings and a hotdog with chipotle mayo. My partner ordered the cod burger and a half pound of the lemon pepper wings. Our food came quickly but, I have to say, service can and should be improved. When the wings and other items were ready, the server just kind of slapped them down on the table without so much as a word. While a small incident, it struck me as quite dismissive. How was the food? My hotdog was good and my partner’s cod burger was a delightful surprise: The cod was tender and flaky – about as good as one would expect to find in a moderately priced seafood restaurant; however, in both cases – hotdog and cod – I felt there was too much in the way of superfluous bun. But hey, let’s not kid ourselves. When we come here, we come for the wings and, I have to say, they were pretty darn good. My wings were well-sauced, carried a light crispy exterior but were juicy and tender inside. The sauce flavours I chose (mango jalapeno and inferno) were nice, but I will admit to slight disappointment with my “Inferno” wings. I’d thought they’d carry a good level of heat similar to, say, the “Jakarta Heat” at Wings, but they were tamer than Pizza Hut’s medium buffalo. If you’re going to call your wings “inferno,” they should be a little bit more inferno-like than that. FOOD: 4/5 SERVICE: 3/5 VALUE: 4/5 RECOMMENDATION: If you love wings and comfort food classics, the Tartan Toque is a fine and fair option. The focus is on wings and they certainly do it well. We look forward to returning and trying different flavours! PS: If you found this review helpful in any way please hit the "helpful" button!
