I was staying at the Four Points Sheraton, so ended up picking up appetizers from the restaurant one night, and had three breakfasts as a member perk.
For the one night I got two appetizers:
- Four Points Pretzel - Poor. I was going to...order the ham & cheese for my kids and ask the toppings to be on the side, but the server said it's baked on, but she could ask to make a plain one. I agreed to that but still ended up paying $14 for a very bland and plain pretzel.
- BBQ Pulled Pork Slider - Below average. They tasted exactly something that could come out of a frozen package and thrown into a microwave, and paid $15 for it.
So for the dinner appetizers, I was not very impressed at all. I was just paying for the convenience of not needing to leave the hotel.
As for the three breakfasts, we tried over three different days:
- Classic Breakfast - Good. Classic indeed. We always got bacon, which was four thin slices. Potatoes were good, and nice that the dish included a juice. Overall, a good sized plate that was easily shared between an adult and child.
- Steak, Egg and Green Chile Hash - OK. We asked for a medium-rare steak, but it was medium. I didn't see any sign of green chile hash. It was regular fried potatoes, which was fine. We didn't bother asking why it was called a green chile hash.
- Avocado Toast - Below average. Some places like to dress up the avocado to give it a little more flavour and make it a bit more special. Not here. It was just sliced avocado on toast.
- Kid's Pancakes - About the same quality you would get from McDonald's, except they put little bit of icing sugar on top.
Interesting note: coffee and tea is free! I have to admit, I've never seen that before, so that's a bit of a nice surprise.
Over the three days, the service for breakfast was really inconsistent. First morning, the server was nice enough, but clearly inexperienced. When we got coffee, she forgot to bring cream. After we got our food, she never came back to check up how everything was. We had to flag her down to get our missing juice. It took forever to get our plates cleared after we finished, and just as long to get the bill. The second morning was a bit better as we had a different server. Again, very nice, a little more attentive (less waiting) but still missed a few things. The third morning, the server was a pro. Super nice and kept on top of everything including warming up our coffee/tea or refilling water without even asking.
So overall, just a lot of inconsistency. The dinner appetizers we had were terrible. The breakfast was standard fare. Service was highly variable. The restaurant is very convenient for hotel guests, but I wouldn't suggest having high expectations.More
