The food and service were very good, however the atmosphere was horrible. The noise from the bar and the music was so loud we couldn't carry on a conversation at our table of 4! They now have hard wood floors and no table clothes, thus...making it an echo chamber. They really need to install a wall between the bar and dinning room or at least a heavy curtain to mute the noise. We were here 15 years ago and it was memorable. Our friend's missed the previous dinner and they were disappointed. Considering the price (very expensive), we won't be going back and can't recommend it to our friends.More

We had a delightful meal with excellent food and service. All the dishes were a hit. The crab appetizer was particularly good. We did have a variety of appetizers and mains. Each was outstanding. They also have a great menu for kids. The service was...extremely good and they handled the children with ease. Good compact wine list. We went with a BC chardonnay which was so tasty. The only minor quibble was we were seated near the entrance and you go a lot of noise from the bar. However, I highly recommend the restaurant.More

My husband and I stopped in for a quick drink while visiting Victoria. Matt was the bartender, and although he let us know right away that they were exceptionally busy and service might be delayed, he was exemplary!! We had a fabulous time!!

We three travel-buddy couples recently had breakfast here and loved the menu and the food. The menu has traditional favorites and some interesting additions. The service is excellent and the coffee is plentiful. It is located on the second floor of this exquisite Victoria landmark...hotel. A real treat!More

While this is fine dining, the meal wasn't spectacular and at a price 50% higher than any other fine dining restaurant, it just doesn't rate. I wouldn't go there again. Although the service was fine, it's not what you should get for a 5-star hotel...restaurant. there are better examples of good restaurant food quality in Victoria. I suggest you take a pass, unless you wish to spend too much money for a good (average) meal.More

Don’t waste your money on the salads. The asparagus salad was pathetic. Less than a finger volume of asparagus with a spoonful of hummus. I was offended.

We went to Victoria on a day trip and went to the Q Lounge for dessert. The only table available was a high-top bar table and there wasn't a sign of another table opening up. Our server Bradley told us that it could be a...while so we took that table. We ordered our desserts and waited for them to arrive. During this time, the table next to us had cleared out. We asked Bradley if we could move so that it would be more comfortable for my mom. He said, no, because a table of five was waiting. After 10-15 minutes with no one arriving at the empty table, we asked again if we could move. He reluctantly said yes, but clearly expressed his displeasure non-verbally to us and made no offer to move our things or help. A few minutes later, a second server named Dina came and berated us for moving to the vacant table. She was told that we had asked our server, and she proceeded to roughly move the remainder of our napkins and coasters to the new table, tossing them in a heap in the middle. She then grabbed one of our bags from under the old table (I had missed it), and tossed it on the floor next to us. At the same time one of us dropped a fork accidentally right in front of her and she made no offer to replace it. This was the worst service I have had at any eating establishment in a very long time, and was so far from meeting my expectations, that we won't be back.More

Unfortunately, we only got the chance to hang out at the Q Bar for a few hours before our Clipper departed back to Seattle on a lovely and sunny Sunday afternoon. Of the little, we got to experience of the Q Bar, which is the...specific "Bar" area of the Fairmont Empress Hotel, not to be confused with the Tea area or Dinner area, we loved. The ambiance is on the swanky side, but the bartenders nor the servers gave off a pretentious vibe like we were expecting. As walk-ins, we quickly snagged bar seating and served complimentary popcorn bowls with charcoal salt, it was a nice touch, and we proceeded to enjoy a few cocktails before trekking to the Clipper station and back home to Seattle. We were left with a positive impression and will be back, except we may stay in the hotel and include a visit to the dinner and tea areas!More

We are staying at the Fairmont and have had breakfast and dinner here. First dinner. The waitstaff are VERY attentive and welcoming. The warm bread with butter and honey that comes from the fairmonts own hives is superb. Hubby and I couldn't fault our meals....The breakfasts were varied and there is something for everyone.More

Had drinks and dessert at the Q. Their chocolate cake is AMAZING. And that charchol flavored popcorn is to die for. What is it and where can you buy that seasoning? It is incredible! I am coming back for more!

From my experience it was magical, candles at the tables beautiful dining room incorporating the beautiful wood from 1908 when the hotel was built. Food was delicious and the waiter Kevin was excellent at his job. Attentive but not overly intrusive.

I stayed at the hotel and had the afternoon tea which was absolutely wonderful. The whole restaurant was decorated just rite. The waiting staff in both the tea dinning room and breakfast buffet were very kind and polite. I liked that they had piano players...at each tea time I went to. Very elegant touch. The waiting staff were very knowledgeable about the teas served and how to time them. There isn't anything I would say to give this place a bad mark. It was all just wonderful.More

Nice bar, good food options, great cocktails. Go for their version of the French 75 and the pizza! And of course the classic G&T.

I got a very quick and nice response to my review. We had a lovely afternoon there. I didn’t see elk on the menu, however I was looking for lighter fare.
