The first time we had dined since the closure of the Bengal Lounge. The Q restaurant is on the first floor which offers good views of the harbour, from the bar space. They've done a good job of mixing the wonderful, old features of heavy...beams/columns with modern, funky lights, and I liked the portraits of Queen Victoria, from young to old - that had a modern stylize effect with dashes of purple. The servers are very friendly and welcoming. On the night we dined, there was live music which added to the positive atmosphere - loved the flute playing - not too loud. The food was well cooked and presented but unfortunately, both the soup main dishes arrived lukewarm. The wine paring worked well for the starter and main course. Personally I would have preferred a sweeter wine but my husband enjoyed the dry taste to offset the very sweet and delicious chocolate based dessert. We moved to the bar and received great service as we enjoyed our digestives and enjoy the music. We did not mention the slight disappointment of the luke warm dishes but hope the chef might warm up the plates to aid keeping the dishes hotter in the future.More

My wife and I travelled to Victoria after 2 long years of not going anywhere and we decided to treat ourselves to a luxurious stay at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria The Q lounge was exceptional. The staff are attentive, personable and the selection of...beverages and food is excellent. There is live music most nights ( some of it is hit and miss) but overall the atmosphere is wonderful. Seeing the original woodwork on the walls and ceiling brings you back to a more sophisticated time when this hotel was the most luxurious thing on Vancouver island. Even if you aren’t staying at the hotel, I would suggest stopping in for a drinkMore

Evening at the Q Bar with some young ladies left much to be desired. Ambiance was nice, service was okay, live music was a good choice and a nice touch but overall the experience was disappointing compared to how the service and quality was at...the old Bengal Lounge. Sent one meal back (grilled cheese) as it was soggy on white bread (not brioche as stated). And even still the waitress tried to claim it was because it wasn't eaten quickly enough... really?? Roasted tomato soup was very tasty, fish and chips were good, pizza was also, fish tacos were not to Victoria's standard. The setting is nice so I may go back for a cocktail, but I'd skip the over charged meal.More

A fun family Saturday evening at Q Bar with our nine year old, live music, good cocktails. Had a picnic style tapas meal, including tomato soup and grilled cheese, warm bread and honey spread, homemade chips and dip. All was very tasty. Service also good,...though a tad slow - Q was packed. Recommend for most, families with small kids may want to take a pass (limited table seating, don’t think there’s high chairs, not sure whether kids menu is available in Q Bar).More

Menu was extremely limited, expected a much wider variety of choices. Had the Sable fish and was ok, but small portions and left feeling hungry.

We dined with six of our family in the restaurant and were delighted with the food. The quality and presentation is well worth the cost. We have tried almost all restaurants in Victoria on our many trips and nothing else we have experienced has come...close.More

We went for dinner. Good variety of dishes. We stuck to appetizers (two each). I had notified the receptionist that it was my wife's birthday, and our waiter brought a slice of delicious cake with a candle and a "Happy Birthday" greeting on a piece...of white chocolate. A good experienceMore

Visited for some beverages at Q-bar with some friends and a couple minors, 1st server promised to bring waters for everyone. 10 minutes later a different server showed up telling us she would be our server. Disappeared for another 5 minutes. Came back to take...our drink order, still no waters. We asked for the bill at the same time as providing our drink orders which were 3 champagnes, the server kept telling us she had 4 other tables she had to tend to (ya, so?). Came back with the drinks, but STILL no waters for the kids. Wanted to pay for all the drinks on one card and she had to leave AGAIN to put everything on one bill? Sorry, but how hard is it to multiply $14 by 3? Super slow service. Super long wait. Super unorganized and unprofessional customer service. Do not recommend.More

The Q Bar is a very nice place but unfortunately the place needs a good cleaning. We were seated by the window which were dirty and the backs of the chairs were dusty and the purple ottoman was also dirty. Like I said great place...to have a drink with breathtaking views of the harbour. Management needs to step up and clean the bar.More

I got a very quick and nice response to my review. We had a lovely afternoon there. I didn’t see elk on the menu, however I was looking for lighter fare.
