I would have given it a "5" instead of a "4" and even though we had a wonderful meal at the James Bay Inn,when it came to paying our bill,our server brought our bill over for 82 dollars. When i asked him to change it...to 90 dollars to include a tip,he pressed the 15% tip button which came to 94 dollars! Even though I'm here as a tourist,one thing i do know is that you don't tip on the tax! With the tax taken off,our basic bill with the 15% tip still came to 89 dollars! I just hope that this is an isolated incident. Our server was a tall,very slim guy with long wavy hair. A tip is a privilege and not a right!More

Four of us went for dinner here this evening after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed! A very diverse but good menu choice. Good prices. Lovely local welcoming atmosphere and great friendly service in the bar area. Chicken Caesar salad was excellent...as was the B52 coffee! We are only here in Victoria for three nights but will most definitely be going back before we leave. Highly recommended.More

We did order a lot of American food, however there are other cuisines available. The things that we did order where perfect. I really enjoyed my chicken, my husband enjoyed his turkey and the ribs were delicious. Additionally our server Sheri told us about a...drink special they had we never tried before it was delicious. we came with a local couple for dinner! Menu is plenty full and prices are fair! The daily pasta dish was out of this world!! Loaded with seafood and a great rose sauce! The 3 bread reuben was tasty and a good Caesar salad came...with it! I will be back for sure! Lots of local beer on draft as well!! Thanks for a great night out!More

We came across this place as it was close to our hotel on the afternoon we arrived & saved us having to go into town & hung around. The pub seemed to be more of a locals place & sports bar oriented but staff were...very friendly & the food we ordered there was some of the best we experienced in Victoria. The portions were generous, lots of salad to accompany your food & well presented. I had a salmon burger, grilled salmon fillet on brioche bun with all the trimmings. It was great!More

The James Bay Inn Pub was a nice little surprise. A lot of locals making the atmosphere inviting and cozy.

Staff were really friendly, food was good .Nice to get smiles from everyone there. Good conversations with both staff and fellow patrons alike

Have been in Victoria for 2 weeks and have gone to the James Bay Inn 3 times already. Great Service every time, Great food every time, Reasonable price. I would HIGHLY recommend it.

The two of us decided to go for a quick weenend getaway.Arriving late we went to the pub for dinner and drinks Food was good and the drinks were cold.Walked around the area exploring coffee shops and everything in between.Great location and an old character...feel we enjoyed our stay..Only gripe was the bed posts were exposed so we banged our legs a few times in the small room Overal we recommend a stay for locals and visitors.We will lilely be back!More

My husband and I went to the James bay restaurant all the time the food portions are getting smaller. I was charged 50 cents for a small amount of sauce. Iwe had fish and chips the portions were very smalll my husband fish was all...batter no fish. I had liver it was very touch. The service is good but the food portions are small. It is expensive enough and they are cutting back on the portions. We are very disappointed and not sure if we will be back. The staff is wonderful and I really like Courtney she is a exceptional manager and deserves a big raise. I wanted to bring this matter to your attention.More

The staff was excellent and the clam chowdrer and Baron of Beef awesome..light, bright and clean! No wait time.
