Amazing fusion of Indian and fresh seafood! Staff was friendly. The food was flavourful and fresh with an mazing presentation. This was our favourite meal during our 10 days in Victoria.

We were intrigued by the description of this establishment in Lonely Planet. It was a fusion of Asian and European cooking styles best described as international fish curry. The food was very tasty.

fish and chips with Indian flavor, very interesting spices, was quite good. Nice kick of spice, not overwhelming. Would definitely recommend

This is a small restaurant with tiny tables. My table is only big enough to hold a dish and a drink per each person. It was so crowded that people were sitting back to back. Quite a number of people come here for drinks. Since...it is open kitchen, expect some cooking smell. It is a fusion of French and India. The food presentation is very plain, not quite French restaurant standard. The food taste is pretty mild, also missing the Indian spices complexity. But the fresh baked bread is very good, crispy outside and soft inside. Prices, except drink, are not cheap.More

Walk into to restaurant, Didn’t know what to expect. The menu is really good and you can see East Indian chefs are working inside the kitchen, which is a great sign as you can expect power pack flavourful menu, it reflects in their menu as...they also have and options like vindaloo, Kofta, Biryani along side local sandwiches and soup options. located in the downtown District, and if you’re walking around in downtown Victoria and looking out for a quick bite this is the place to go. They also have a tiny patio with two tables so you can sit outside and enjoy the city view.More

Description of chowder sounds delightful on menu and broth was quite tasty. Just the right spiciness but far too many of what seemed like leftover potato chunks for my liking though! We ordered fish pakoras as well which were overcooked & quite greasy. Mint sauce...that accompanied the pakoras was best part of our take out meal.More

Fusion? Don't like it but this French-Indian cuisine mix worked incredibly and the results were bursting with flavors. Shared a Squip (shrimp-squid) tartine and steamed mussels in light Vindaloo sauce. Presentation and taste were impressive ... speechless.

Stopped by for dinner last night in hopes of finding an open table. The place was busy so we ended up at window seating - which was just fine. We ordered two ponicherry dishes and were very pleased with the Indian flavours. The portion could...have been larger given the dish was 70% rice. The service was good and if you are looking for something a little non-traditional I think you will enjoy the food here.More

The room is tiny and full of people. The food is interesting but not culinary. Seafood with an Indian flair. The portions are huge and we had to take some home because it was just too much to finish. I would definitely give it try...if you are looking for something totally different.More

We split the pakora cod fritters that were ok. I had the tuna melt which was very tasty with harissa and jalapeno. The harissa was too much and should have been less intense. My wife had the Caesar salad with shrimp and salmon. The salad...was overdressed with dressing.More

Quaint restaurant with a few tables. Arrived at the restaurant and waited for some time until someone looked at our covid vaccinations (no scanner). Decided on the pekora battered fish and masala chips (salmon and cod) . The flavor was no different than regular fish...and chips. The batter was very crispy and and the fish was dry. Service was ok.More

Located near downtown Victoria, Fishhook offers up the freshest tasting fish I’ve had a restaurant. The Tuna Melt was enjoyed by daughter, the bisque with clams was outstanding, the chowder was enjoyed by all and the cod’n’chips were delicious. The food was cheap, but for...quality ingredients, and such fresh fish, we could not be happier. We enjoyed our window seats as we got to people watch. My wife was by far the most impressed with the offerings as I am typically a fish eater. That said, Fishhook was quality food as a reasonable price!!More

Fabulous meal. Just a short walk from the tourist downtown restaurants made a huge difference. It is a tiny restaurant with only about 10 seats - reservations are recommended. Portion sizes are large. Our small salads were the same size as a large salad downtown....And very fresh. For mains we had fish and chips and the seafood hot pot. Both were great. The hot pot had about 20 mussels in it, plus fish and other seafood and the broth was amazing. As I requested gluten free meal, they brought me 4 huge slices of gluten free bread. We left feeling extremely full and very happy.More

We visited Victoria in late Sept 2021 and dined at Fishhook twice during our stay of 5 days. The food was outstanding and so was the service. Dishes were flavourful and unique. Covid protocols were followed and the restaurant was clean. Reservations are recommended, as...we dined early one evening and every table was reserved past 6pm. We will definitely return if we are in Victoria again.More

One of my children has severe food allergies, including nuts. We were able to enjoy a delightful meal at Fishhook. Staff is super friendly and approachable. Kitchen is open so you can just ask the chef himself. Good luck!
