We were in Victoria for a day and came by the Keg steak restaurant and figured this looks like a good place to have dinner. On our initial impression the menu seemed very good. We started with some wine and i can say the wines...we ordered where impeccable. Unfortunately though, we couldn’t say the same regarding the food.
The waitress asked if we wanted to start with some bread and butter, which we liked, but then she never actually brought the bread.
While I can vouch for the steak I ordered, almost all complementary items were disastereous. The seasonal vegetables were undercooked and still quite hard, the fries were only slightly warm (and ofcourse cold once you had a few fries) and undercooked as well. Which was a shame as we did like the steak.
The desert was quite good as well, nothing to blame on that part. Only, while we were still eating our desert, the waitress suddenly brings a folded paper with the bill and brushes it off with “whenever your ready”. We weren’t even done with desert and tbh, we still wanted to order something else. A few moments later, while we are still finishing up she stands at our table with the payment register. And another moment later, while I go to the washroom (my girldfriend still at the table), she just collects our glasses while we still have to finish them.
In all honesty, I’ve never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. This might not be average experience one has at this restaurant, at least I hope not, but for us this really was a bad experience. The way she just collected everything in the end, I regret even given a tip.
