We eat at the keg in every Canadian city we visit that has one. We always have said that If you want an amazing steak dinner there is no other place to go. Our visit to the keg in Victoria has me now questioning the...above. My plate arrived with lumpy mashed potatoes and steak was way under cooked. The waitress was very apologetic when I brought my concerns to her, she quickly brought it back to have it corrected. Round two, the same steak that had a piece removed arrived back at my table. Again the mashed potatoes that I had been craving were Still lumpy and the steak was still way under cooked for my liking. ( with Covid protocols I was surprised they put my steak back on There grill). At this point I was left very disappointed and said we would leave to eat else where. This is the first time ever that I had been this dissatisfied with a restaurant where I opted to leave. My partner whose steak was also undercooked had remained silent about his disappointment. The manager came out to see me without being prompted to do so, she was great in handling the situation and ensured that our entire bill was waived, she was apologetic and handled the situation well. This restaurant may need a bit more time to get their kitchen staff trained.More

We were craving a tasty steak so we made reservations at the Keg on Fort Street. The person at the door was friendly and, although we were a little early, she said a table was available. Our table hadn't been wiped. We ordered the classic...tenderloin which comes with accompaniments. Our salad came out on a cold plate but there was no fresh cracked pepper offered. When asked, a server dropped a plastic pepper grinder at the table for us to do it ourselves. Our salad plates sat on the table until our main meal came. Our steak came out rare instead of medium rare. Our servers said they would have it cooked a little longer. Another came out but it was the same. We didn't want to ask again. Our meal was hot. After we finished our dinner our plates were removed but crumbs still remained on the table. The experience was more like a diner than a nice restaurant. The Kegs are not all the same....More

We waited outside of the restaurant at the front of the line near the hostesses, but another couple clearly cut in front of us and the hostesses still assisted them first. Once seated, the server Jordan was quick to assist us and was kind. However,...it was my partner's birthday, and we stated it clearly in the reservation request and told our server, yet there was nothing done to make it special like most restaurants usually do. We thought this may just be a restaurant standard, but when we were leaving we heard other servers talk about how a table had a birthday and that they needed to get ready for it. So we were a little disappointed about that. The food was good and the twice-baked potato was delicious, although my partner's steak was a little on the cooler side. Nevertheless, it was overall a good experience.More

We had the filet and prime rib classic dinners which were excellent. Sadly the not very welcoming girl checking us in outside in the cold and having us (2 people) wait outside in the cold wind wasn't a good start. It's COVID so I realize...it adds challenges to this location that doesn't have much of an entry. To then be seated in a tiny booth surrounded by tables covered in dishes, glasses, cutlery, stacked high when there were numerous tables available for our 8:15 reservation was totally unacceptable. Don't seat people there. It's like eating in the back hall on the way to the kitchen. When asked to be moved, the girl really couldn't understand why. So we weren't happy campers by the time our final nice waitress got to us. Our meal was good but the experience was not a good one. Left a bad taste about returning. Was my first visit to this location since we moved here.More

The Keg makes a great steak, and their thick cut veggies are a wonderful accompaniment. Before I understood the value of a rare or medium rare steak, I gave then a hard time about my steak, wanting it well-done. Well, shame on me. I have...since learned the error of my ways. Having said that, their lobster was dry, hence the 4/5 rating.More

Did the Dine around 2021 tonight. My wife and I ordered from the $60 menu up $10 from 2020 Dine Around. We were disappointed that the Baked Garlic Shrimp was removed as an appetizer choice although advertised as a choice on Tourism Victoria. My wife...had the Neptune Shrimp and I the Keg Caesar to start. Both were not exceptional. For dinner we had the Baseball Sirloin and Lobster tail and the twice baked potato. Lobster was on the small side and twice baked potato tasted like someone had scooped out the potato and mashed it and stuck it back in. Not very tasty! Sirloin Steak was delicious and cooked to a perfect medium rare.! Billy Miner pie for dessert was delicious as always. All in all it was what I would call an just ok dining experience.More

My wife and I were somewhat disappointed with our steak dinners. We had invited our oldest daughter and boyfriend for dinner for a bit of Christmas cheer. Steaks were tough and barely warm, veg and potato was also barely warm. Our server Mark was poor...and disorganized. When our waiter brought our meals he was surprised our complimentary bread was missing and our drinks were empty so he chased up Mark. I don't know what was said to mark but he was not happy. The restaurant was busy which surprised me due to COVID. For what we paid and what we received in meals and service did not match at all. We used to love the Keg but everything eventually fails. When we left as polite people we still said goodbye to Mark who gave us a curt flick of his hand. Oh well lessons learned.More

Was there last evening .....ordered the " Mega Keg size Prime rib" ( not on the menu) and the cook , cooked it to perfection, keep that fellow on the grill , thanks Cook! I have always had good servers at the Keg over the...years and when you think you have had the best server....there is always another one to top the last one ....and it proved to be true last night when "Tristan " stepped up to bat and proved us with 5 star service from beginning to end...... I can only say when it comes to management hiring ...they should use Tristan as an example of how Keg servers should present themselves at each table they serve.More
