We have heard great things about this lovely tea room, and having experienced tea service around the world, looked forward to this. We delighted in the "Big Muckle" spread as well as a expertly crafted quiche and flavorful chicken soup. My husband loved the soup...so much, he had seconds. The Big Muckle was delivered on a beautiful tiered platter, and looked like perfection, from the scrumptious scones with delicious homemade preserves, to the delicately assembled sandwiches, and six glorious desserts that were artistically crafted. The quality and construction of the delicate morsels was superb and fit for royalty. The selection of teas was also of the highest quality, which included the Mad Hatter and Angel Blend. The staff is also very professional, and delivers exceptional service with a smile. If you're visiting Victoria and want the very best of the best high tea service, it is absolutely worth the very short taxi ride.More

We have attended a number of afternoon tea services on Vancouver Island and we enjoyed this one very much. The day we were there they were short staffed and the entire dining room was waited on by the manager. Despite it being totally full, she...did a good job of taking care of us and getting the food out. After all, this is not a fast food restaurant, it is a place to have a leisurely meal so keep your expectations realistic. The food was tasty and the portion sizes were far better than other places we have been for afternoon tea. The scones were especially yummy, and it was not typical ( but welcome) to get clotted cream, jam AND lemon curd served with it. My only issue was that there were not many options for vegetarians and vegans....but we would return.More

Our previous visit for Afternoon Tea, a number of years ago, was exceptional, but this latest experience was poor. It appears to be operated by new owners. They only had 2 options - 11:30 & 13:30, which aren't our preferred times for Afternoon Tea. Service...- the entire tearoom only had 1 waiter, so service was extremely slow. He mentioned they have another waiter, but they were off that week and weren't replaced. The explanation of the products was so rushed it was hopeless. Tea - they used insufficient tea to get a cup of good strong tea. Even after steeping for 10 mins the tea was light coloured and weak. To make matters worse, he did return once asking if we wanted more water in the tea pots. Sorry, a proper tea house knows you require a fresh portion of tea leaves to make more tea. Allergies - we advised of a cheese allergy during the booking and were very surprised to see a cheese scone on the plate with cream cheese. The cucumber sandwich also had cream cheese. Quality - The smoked salmon sandwich was enjoyable, unfortunately none of the other sandwiches were enjoyable. Both the egg and ham had additional things that we did not find compatible. Scones were very small and a tad dry. No clotted cream, only whipped cream. The jam was blackcurrent, which I have never seen with Afternoon or High Teas. The desserts were on the dry side and none were enjoyable. Value - overall we consider the value poor. At this price point both the service and quality of products was sadly lacking. Summary - my assumption is this business is no longer operated by owners that know how to make proper tea and what a traditional Afternoon Tea consists of.More

I was there with my friend recently and was very disappointed on their choices of lunch menu options and prices! I ordered a very small sconewich (chicken and apple salad) with soup and my friend ordered a salad and to be charged $29 is incredible...ridiculous. Menu said choice for dessert is “slice of cake/dessert bar/2 cookies” but we weren’t offered a choice, waitress just bought out a small roll cake and 1 shortbread cookie. I used to come for lunch and loved their menu with options like crepe or quiche! Unfortunately I will not come again until you have a better menu option.More

No views here but atmosphere is great with attentive service, beautiful, old china cup sets, and freshly prepared high tea goodies. Definitely reserve ahead and you will need to give your credit card number to hold the booking. Advised to order ahead for better service....Tables can be a bit tight when larger groups try to fit in. So many lovely teas to choose from and there are à la carte choices too but there is a minimum purchase per person. It's good quality compared to other restaurants offering high tea and I would highly recommend. I am always bringing a doggy bag home from this place. Vegetarian options too. Free parking behind building and on street.More

Wow- how to describe the consistently great fresh food only found at this establishment. We have tried numerous tea venues around the area and even a few in the US, but nothing ever compares. Excellent service with staff knowing their regular customers as well as...taking time to explain in detail their great tea items to new and visiting clients. We can’t say enough about how good the service through Covid has been- mostly takeout for us. We can’t wait to get back to the usual in house service. Try the Mad Hatter tea and the (of course) made in house shortbread- you will be addicted as we are!More

The food and drink was fine. The server was dead wood- no personality and pretty much rude. She did not check our vaccination status and ID at the door. After we sat down I asked her again if she was checking the health records of...people in the restaurant. She said, " I am too busy". Eventually, she reluctantly checked our health status or we would have left. The place is boring- no festive decorations, no festive music. Just a boring, dull afternoon tea with no customer service. The server muttered and just appeared unhappy about being so busy- there were 4 other people in the restaurant. Wont be going backMore

The staff along with their wonderful sandwiches and pastries are second to none. We take our three granddaughters there whenever we can and the staff is very accommodating. They even let the little girls pick out their own tea cup. We just love the place.

Today we ordered a high tea from the White Heather Tea Room to take home. As we are still in the middle of Covid 19 we couldn’t go out for our traditional Christmas high tea. We ordered one of their regular high teas and a...gluten free high tea for my husband. They came nicely packaged in boxes, one for him and one for me. The assortment of sandwiches and cakes were delicious. We had also purchased a few small bottles of wines so we could have a flight of three wines with our tea. I would highly recommend the White Heather Tea Room! Great service, lovely food!More

As locals we have been here before. We wanted to support local businesses during Covid, and were out to celebrate a family member's birthday. But we feel that the $35 each for two High Tea servings -- $70 -- was outrageous considering how little we...were given. We had been given one tiny scone each, three Ritz cracker sized sandwiches each, and three tiny tart sized items. My seven items fit onto the palm of my small hand. The website shows ample servings on the tiered stands used for High Tea, but ours had the bottom plate with the three containers and not much of the curd, jam, and whipped cream...about one teaspoon each. The remaining two levels were barely covered with the tiny food items, absolutely ridiculous. Their website photos show another story but in reality this is an utter rip off, and in no way possible can they justify what they served us. If this business expects locals to return then they had better think twice before this kind of thing is repeated. Not returning, have lost my trust for this place.More

My mom and I booked a last minute stay at a close by resort in ocean bay and asked our concierge for an afternoon tea recommended. He suggested the The White Heather, and to be put simply we were not disappointed!!! Service was amazing, food...was incredible (and we’ve done some of the most expensive high teas around) this was amazing! Tea selection was great- I recommend the Mad Hatter tea! We had the most lovely time- would definitely recommend, but make a reservation, they seemed busy!More
