I was really looking forward for to going here but was slightly disappointed by the experience. Loved the food though.
Minors are allowed until 9pm. The food was great, nice variety of poutine dishes, a fab cheeseburger and the Irish stew was also felt.
They stuck us in a corner upstairs though pretty much away from everywhere and everyone else. Not sure if this was because we brought kids (14 & 16yo).
Our young server was a bit surly when we needed a little more time to choose what to drink from the large beer menu. Felt like we were making life hard for her.
In other words, I wouldn’t describe this place as great for a family. The craic’s probably great if you’re a group of friends but there wasn’t any craic on offer for us unfortunately.

What a great gem in Victoria. I went in for a late dinner on the weekend and had the best experience. They have some special where you can a 3 course meal for just $25 dollars. So I had a famous clam chowder, fish and chips and yummy dessert. Everything was great - music, food, service.

We came here for lunch and had the Irish stew, kids mac and cheese, clam chowder, and fried oysters. They were very allergy conscious and were good at checking ingredients. After finding out my first choice had an allergen, I asked about the fried clams. They were very hesitant to cook this for me because the panko was from a supplier and they could not guarantee it to be allergy free. After some looking into, I determined it was safe for me. They even brought the food up separately from the rest of the group to prevent contamination. I really appreciated this extra step of caution.
The first bite of the fried oysters was warm and good. However, the center was still cold. There was a nice crispy crust, but they could have all been cooked longer. I would have sent them back, but we had a limited time capacity. The Irish stew was bursting with flavour. Kaitlyn was our server and she was very friendly and attentive.

Vegan beware and a company managed by teenagers
We arrived and the hostess asked my 32 year old son for ID ???
(A he is 32. B he is sober. 3 the other were in their 20’s and didn’t ask them
Should have been my first sign of incompetence !
Next we advise we are vegan.
They say “no worries “ and proceed to advise us the limited options they have. (Salad. Contain cheese ) and veggie burger.
We order.
They bring all our group their food.
Don’t bring the vegan and when they do it has cheese and bacon ??? Wtf ?
Anyway “apologies etc “ and yet then they return 30 min later without our new food. (Fries ) but with a platter of chicken wings.
Even forgetting the food preferences, how about allergies ?
Oh the vegan bun contained milk.
They brought us bacon
Egg in the patty
They brought an entire platter of chicken wings.
We waited over 90 minutes for fries.
The staff was unprofessional unpleasant rude and bored.
Frankly they acted like petulant teenagers who were all stoned.
Good luck on your business as 25,000 tourists a day off those cruise ships and your hiring sacked out teenagers who think chicken wings are vegan and never ever been trained on your menu items. Good luck in being a successful business owner let alone a restaurant owner - you are a frozen patty , packaged salad , McDonald’s at best —- not a chef at all !

Ate lunch here today lateish so after the rush and was fairly unimpressed.
Server was charming and friendly but service was slow and the fish and chips horribly over cooked with about double or treble the batter as to actual fish.
I pulled off the extra batter and the server didn’t ask about the pile on my plate so I didn’t care to explain
Best avoided for food id say from my experience

Today I went with my family to Irish times pub in Victoria. We like going to pubs with the family as usually the kids menu is good value. So today we ordered four normal meals and a kid meal for our youngest, he really wanted an adult menu but we insisted that he takes a kids menu. So we ordered the mini Mac and cheese, which has the same description as the adult menu. The cost is 14$ meanwhile the adult version is 18.95$. We were so surprised when they brought the meal. We mentioned it to the staff and they did take the Mac and cheese back at no cost, they even offered to give it to us for free. However, it didn’t change the fact that the whole thing was very disappointing. I will let you judge for yourselves in the photos.

There are a lot of choices for dinner in the main business district of Victoria and we settled on a fish and chips dinner here because I liked the vibe on a late afternoon. Our server Lynne did a nice job of taking care of us. We ordered one of the local lager brews which was served ice cold. Very tasty!
My partner ordered a Salmon Burger, perfectly cooked on a fresh bun with sauce on the side (as we requested) and fries. The salmon, of course, is wild and fresh caught this time of year. It just doesn't get any better. Delicious!
My fresh local cod fish and chips was similarly wonderful, served directly from the fryer (I had to be careful with the first few bites), and so flaky tender. Loved it!
We took our time but not enough to hear the band start playing after 8 p.m. Would love to go back and be entertained. They had a big crowd of diners and drinkers ready to enjoy good Irish music.

We have been to the Irish Times many times over the years, but this time we were disappointed. There were problems. First, the service was extremely slow and the server was completely indifferent. Many of the items on the menu were not available, and neither us as customers, or the server, had been apprised of that. This meant that my dinner did not arrive at all, and I left without dining to seek a take out place somewhere else, after watching my fellow diners eat their dinners. Apparently the Irish stew was good though.

Hi Shimmerlinglife,
First I would like to apologize for what seems like a lack luster experience and execution on our part. The long weekend seemed to have caught up with us at when it comes to your table. We are greatly sorry for that. I would love to have you back for a dinner on us to redeem ourselves. If you would like please reach out to me and I will personally make sure your next visit is a great one.
Thank you again for your feedback we will be looking into this further to improve and make sure this sort of thing does not happen again.
Cheers,
Parker

I have been coming to Irish Times for the last 16 years when I visit Victoria, it is a must visit each time I come. In my visits over the years they have yet to disappoint. I went mid week in November 22, and loved my visit after a almost 5 years absence. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and even let me order from the kids menu so that I wasn’t overly full since leftovers were not an option with my hotel. They have nightly music and when they started I was reminded how my spirit instantly lifts when you combine music, good drinks and mouthwatering food. Their Irish soda bread with real butter dipped in their amazing seafood chowder was a burst of flavor in the mouth. Followed with the kids version of the Shepherds Pie, fabulous. I highly recommend this as a must stop when visiting Victoria for the wonderful food, great service, and live music.

On our way to Frank’s diner we saw a sign at Irish Times for live music 7am-1am and decided to have dinner here instead.
The drinks are over priced but tasted good.
Our family was having fun chatting and laughing but the waitress had absolutely no personality. 40 minutes after we ordered our food the fun began to fade as our son started to get a headache from being hungry and our frustration overruled our hunger. With no apologies the waitress told us the food would be another 8 minutes. We expressed our frustrations but she had no sympathy. As a matter of fact she continued to check on the table next to us but avoided our table, even having two other people bring out the food.
The fries were good, the Reuben was nothing special. I’m sure if it hadn’t taken so long things might have been better, but we all agreed it wasn’t worth the $130 bill. And there never was any live music in this time frame.

The Irish Times Pub is a place my Irish Papa would have loved. My husband and I had a lovely meal (shepherds pie, fish and chips, Smithwick’s Red ale, and sticky toffee pudding) while we listened to a live fiddle and guitar duo. All of this was delightful in itself, but our server, Taylor, made us feel especially welcome. She spent extra time giving us suggestions for places to visit, hike, and eat during our visit to Victoria. She even drew us a map! We would definitely recommend The Irish Times Pub!

We got a table quite quickly & were told there was a wait for food, but we stuck with it & the beer was good. The food however, was not worth the wait. Very small poor portions & low quality & cold by the time we got it after 45 minutes or so. Drinking place only I would suggest.

It feels very rich and historic in this beautiful venue. Service was excellent and the place was already hopping late afternoon. The warm truffled mushroom dip with crispy salty chips was delicious. It was a real treat to have such a generous portion of salmon on the salmon burger. A side of local Dungeoness crab bisque was very tasty. A must try is the pan seared West Coast Wild Red Snapper with lovely grilled asparagus bathed in a caper cream sauce on top of a citrus rice. Yum! Prices are very reasonable and the quality is top notch. You got eat here!

I had lunch with my family in this pub and we were not satisfied. We got the fish and chips and it didn't taste good or look good. Poor tasting fish in small quantities, practically all batter with a side of burnt chips. Pub not recommended, go elsewhere.

We hadn't booked but we were taken to a table upstairs, the place was busy and buzzing. The Irish band was in full swing, the punters were loving it. Fish and Chips, Guinness, Steamworks craft ale, Butter chicken curry were all absolutely delicious. Atmosphere was fantastic. Thanks for a great start to our holiday in gorgeous Victoria.
