About
Welcome to the Irish Times Pub, where excellent design and authenticity are at the heart of downtown Victoria's BEST IRISH PUB! Located at 1200 Government Street, the Irish Times Pub is home to 190 seats over two floors with 80 seats available on our patios, opening onto both Government Street and historic Bastion Square. Our concept goes far beyond mere architecture though. The Irish Times opened with everything it takes to make a pub successfully Irish, including authentic Live Irish music, 7 nights a week. The tradition of Ireland has also been extended to our menu, which has been developed on a philosophy of creating traditional Irish food and drink that is both contemporary and funky, showcasing

“Crappy” experience at the Irish Times on Wednesday, July 28th. My friend and I were seated outside on the patio. We had just received our drinks when we felt a shower and heard several “splats” … we thought someone had thrown a drink at us...when in reality it was a bird or birds overhead letting go in a HUGE way. If we were confused at first, the patrons screaming and pointing at us let us know it was worse than a drink. In fact, there was bird poop everywhere… the table, our drinks, my arms, shirt, and skirt, and inside my friend’s purse. Now obviously the staff cannot control what the birds do, but their response was basically zero. My friend moved us to another table (under cover) while I spent 15 minutes in the bathroom trying to get myself and my clothes wiped off. While my friend went to clean out her purse, I asked for new drinks. I was very surprised at the staff’s lack of acknowledgement and helpfulness. Finally, when bringing our new drinks, our server said, “ Thats’s a hotspot. We actually have a Comp button for when a table gets pooped on.” So my friend and I had our lunch, a tasty chicken club sandwich split between the two of us and one drink each, thinking that, oh well, at least our lunch will be complimentary. It wasn’t. While I was in the washroom again trying to get the stains out of my clothing, my friend queried our $40 lunch bill with our server. Her response was, “Sorry if I was unclear. We only Comp the meal if the bird poop lands in the food. We didn’t charge you for the first round of drinks.” What?!?! So the fact that we were covered in poop and had a terrible experience didn’t warrant for a comp meal? And, they were generous to not charge us for the untouched drinks with bird poop in them? If it wasn’t so upsetting, it would really be quite funny. But it wasn’t. In hindsight, we should have spoken with the manager. It wasn’t about the bill but a quick, helpful, empathetic response would have made the experience completely different and (possibly) bearable.More

We went to the Irish Times Pub on July 16th for diner and had a great time. We were quickly seated outside on their patio area which is nicely set up. Our server (Grace) met with us soon after being seated. There was live music...within the pub. We ordered some drinks, a salad, wings and nachos. All the drinks and food were very good. The drinks and food came out quickly. Kudos to the bartenders and kitchen staff. Grace was very friendly, efficient and attentive. Great service. Great food. We will be back.More

Great food. But I don’t have this kind of time. Over 45 minutes to wait on an Irish strew is ridiculous. Either the sever didn’t put in the order when she took it or the kitchen doesn’t know how to cook food. Either way it...would have been only right for the sever to come by and explain the situation. Showing up after being asked what was taking so long is not service. That is called avoiding the problem. They are not busy and this bods poorly when the tourists return. Sorry doesn’t cut it. Avoid unless you have hours to kill.More

We visited the Irish Times during the “circuit breaker,” which restricted pubs and restaurants to only serving on patios. We sat in their covered and heated tent/patio, and I had an Irish Coffee with the Guinness chocolate brownie. Yum. No complaints. The Irish Times Pub...is making the best of some very difficult times.More

Went with friends for happy hour which was very decent. However one ordered a glass of wine off the happy hour selection. Nothing extravagant just Monday you can buy for under $20 a bottle. Her bill was $17.50 per glass!!!! Plus taxes & tip. I...have been to 5 star restaurants but never seen a glass of mediocre wine that much. Beware!!!! Stick to happy hour.More

The staff were awesome! Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was ok (not great) but our big surprise for the night was $16 (plus taxes and tip) for a glass of Pinot Grigio! Be very aware of the price of things before you order here...

soupy tasteless meat base and scoops of mashed potatoes on top?...that is not Shepherds Pie in any country..especially when it arrives in a soup bowl and advertised as an entree...the management should be ashamed for charging money for that.

Went here during the COVID-19 pandemic and sat outside on their patio. Unlike many of the other restaurants in Victoria during the pandemic, Happy Hour at the Irish Times Pub ran until 6pm. We chose their salt 'n' pepper chicken wings and a margarita from...their Happy Hour menu and their Irish beef stew from their main menu. Both were delicious! The beef stew was hearty and filling, as you would hope, with good flavour and a decent (but not overly generous) amount of beef. The chicken wings were tender, meaty, and very tasty. Service was friendly. Would recommend and come here again.More
