Down below Wharf St., right on a harbour dock, sits a ship container that is home to fine cuisine. No fancy table cloths are found here but there are stools, benches, counters where you can sit and watch planes and boats come and go. The seafood is first rate in taste and design, and a popular favourite (often the line-up is long). Pay parking is available on both sides of the dock down ramps accessed as you travel south only on Wharf.

There weren't many people queuing in the off-season, and it was our turn to order after waiting for a few minutes. After ordering, you can sit and wait nearby, and they will call your name to take it when it's ready. Forks, spoons, ketchup, and paper towels are available for you to take. We ordered a set meal of flounder and cod, and a cup of chowder soup. The fish and chips were delicious, and the fries were fried crispy and fragrant. The cabbage salad was a bit sour, but quite appetizing. The soup was curry-flavored, with fish and corn.

Slight line on a Wednesday evening for dinner about 8pm; moved relatively fast. They close at 9pm and were still selling at 8:55pm. We ordered a bowl of the chowder to share; should've gotten the litre because it was SO GOOD. For the fish and chips, we ordered one of each, BC Halibut, Wild Salmon and Pacific cod. We liked the Halibut the best; the texture was flaky and light. The coleslaw was bland.

I had many good fish and chip meals here last year. I ordered lunch today March 15 and got a rubbery hard 4 inch by one inch piece of overcooked fish, cold chips that looked frozen not fresh cut and the chowder had no fish only corn. I'm an older person and we don't usually make a scene and take food back for a refund. I threw the food in the garbage. The man getting his order after me had a piece of fish three times the size of mine and fresh cut chips. That's what I expected from the visits last year. I talked to a man in a fish shop today. He figured the fish had been cooked for someone else and reheated in a microwave to give it the texture it had. For $25.50 for a piece of fish and chips and cup of soup plus a tip consider taking your business to a place that is consistent in quality.

Wow, one of the best fish and chips I've ever had, the halibut was delicious! As a recommendation, if you are not that hungry, a piece of fish will be fine, since they are very large! My choice was fish & chips, but the other dishes on the menu looked amazing too! Being able to eat in front of the sea and enjoy the food and the tranquility of the place is priceless, I highly recommend it!

This spot is great for a casual lunch or dinner. Outside seating, some of it covered. The food is great. My husband had fish and chips and liked it very much. I had grilled salmon and salad. The fish was grilled to perfection, greens very fresh and plentiful.

Red Fish Blue Fish was one of the highlights of our family trip to Victoria. Loved the taste of nearly everything! We were lukewarm on the coleslaw, otherwise the cod and chips were awesome. So fresh, battered perfectly and a good portion. The fries were excellent, though you do feel a few more chips for the cost would not be the worst thing in the world. My daughter's wrap was gobbled up quickly. The tartar sauce was probably the best tartar sauce, I've ever had anywhere. Located on Wharf st, RFBF offers a wonderful view of the Harbour in Victoria. An absolute must to enjoy a full "Victoria" experience!

there were many local, family and friend recommendations for this take out place to eat so decided to go for it. It did not disappoint. There was a long line up when we arrived at 630 pm 30 minutes before closing and the line up just kept getting longer. WE can see why the food coming out of this tiny unassuming place was soooo good. We tried the grilled salmon mine with salad and my daughters with fries. She also tried the chowder it was too spicy for me. the portions are huge and we saw the famous fish and chips huge orders as well and everyone commenting on how good it was. This place is a hidden gem of a restaurant and worth the weight and value for your dollar. loved the pickled stuff that comes with and so full after eating here. This was one of our favorite stops its located near the Empress wharf behind the historic pink house on the harbour. There is plenty of room to stand and sit for eating and a great sunset place too. We parked in the parkade close by and walked down keep in mind its a steep walk up

Disappointing meal. Thought the hour long line up would indicate a great experience. We had the halibut and fries. Serving size was large but the fish was dry and fell apart too much. The table were never washed between people sitting at the stools.

Few restaurants live up to the hype. Red Fish Blue Fish does. All the fish are carefully prepared and delicious and well worth the wait (which can be long at peak periods). Best times to come are when they open (11 am) or mid to late afternoon when they are less busy. I went twice on a four day trip. The first time we had ahi tacones which were lightly seared and melted in our mouths, and a salmon sandwich (equally tasty). We did not have the classic fish and chips because we had fish and chips the previous day for lunch but we were told they were extraordinary (they have cod, haddock, and salmon). My second trip I tried the jerkfish tacone (a mix of haddock, cod, hallibut and salmon) which was OK but not as good as the ahi tacone. I also had the fish chowder which was chock full of fish, corn, and potatoes and was a cross between a Manhattan fish chowder (red) and a New England fish chowder (white) with a taste of siracha (but not spicy hot). I only wish they had some comfortable tables and chairs or even picnic benches, and not just uncomfortable metal bar stools. Also, the food is reasonably priced and better than what you can get at the nearby Empress hotel.

A friend told us to not miss Red Fish Blue Fish and we're glad we grabbed lunch here! We shared a 2-piece cod fish and chips. Perfectly fried to a golden crisp. The bonus is that you get to enjoy watching the sea planes take off and land while you eat. The line might be long, but it moves quickly and they prepare your food really quickly, too.

We ordered the wild salmon fish and chips, 2 pieces & the chowder in bowl on March 31, 2023. The wild salmon fish and chips dish was great. We didn’t like the coleslaw, it taste sour. I didn’t like the chowder that much because the ingredients, it tasted like curry with spicy flavor. My husband liked it, but I didn’t.

A local recommended this restaurant on the wharf and it did not disappoint! The fish and chips were the best I have ever had! My friend had the cod dog sandwich and loved it! We enjoyed this so much we went back again a few days later. We had the seafood chowder and WOW It was amazing!

My wife and I heard a lot of chatter about this place from friends within the area. It surpassed my expectations, because of the diverse flavors in the food. We just beat the crowd for lunch, and would approximate that you will probably wait in line for 15-20 minutes and maybe another 5-10 minutes for food. My wife ordered the Coconut-Chipotle Chowder and Jerk Fish Taco, and I had the halibut fish and chips. The staff were very friendly. There is a very small sitting/standing area along the wharf to wait or/and eat. I also did notice there was the ability to order via phone. We enjoyed it very much, and it was a great experience.

This is an overrated fish and chips place with very limited outdoor seating. Food is expensive and medium portions. Many fish and chip places are charging higher prices lately. See photo of menu.
