Few restaurants live up to the hype. Red Fish Blue Fish does. All the fish are carefully prepared and delicious and well worth the wait (which can be long at peak periods). Best times to come are when they open (11 am) or mid to...late afternoon when they are less busy. I went twice on a four day trip. The first time we had ahi tacones which were lightly seared and melted in our mouths, and a salmon sandwich (equally tasty). We did not have the classic fish and chips because we had fish and chips the previous day for lunch but we were told they were extraordinary (they have cod, haddock, and salmon). My second trip I tried the jerkfish tacone (a mix of haddock, cod, hallibut and salmon) which was OK but not as good as the ahi tacone. I also had the fish chowder which was chock full of fish, corn, and potatoes and was a cross between a Manhattan fish chowder (red) and a New England fish chowder (white) with a taste of siracha (but not spicy hot). I only wish they had some comfortable tables and chairs or even picnic benches, and not just uncomfortable metal bar stools. Also, the food is reasonably priced and better than what you can get at the nearby Empress hotel.More

The battered salmon and chips are phenomenal, as is the poutine. The chowder is excellent as well. We came here for every lunch during our trip to Victoria, and we can’t wait to come back next time we’re in town.

Long line, but line moved pretty quickly. Great fish and great harbor views! Out of all the chowders we ate on the West Side of the island and in Victoria - this one had coconut milk, which I liked! Tacones are pretty filling - 3...for 2 hungry adults worked!More

Yes, you may have to line up to experience the Halibut Fish and chips and coleslaw. Yes, it is located on the wharf and cooked out of a shipping container. Yes, it is no longer the "secret" of the locals of Victoria. Because it is...amazing! So much fun. The staff are remarkably cheerful and polite and hardworking considering the hours and the people who want to experience this. It is worth it - go!More

Some reviews say the (30 minutes in our case) queue is worth it - others not. We are in the don’t bother camp. The food was pretty average - overcooked chips but fish nice. However, this place is definitely over hyped. Lord knows why they...can’t serve quicker as well…More

Hi..only place I know where you tip before receiving and eating your food. Tip in advance for the order guy who also serves drinks and chowder. Definately order chowder as you get it immediately before your fish...and the chowder is worth it. Our Halbit and...fries less impressive and albacore tuna came in 2 different colors, one pinkish, one brownish piece together in the wrap. Tasteless, needed a spicy mayo maybe. Stomach did not appreciate the albacore.More

We got there when they first opened. (We'd noticed that a massive line was the norm, later in the day.) I'd seen it recommended so thought we'd give it a try. They were surly and the fish tacone gave me indigestion.

This cozy seafood shack on the wharf lived up to the hype! The food was delicious and totally worth the long lines. I tried the BC halibut fish and chips, and the tempura cod tacones, which were both amazing, but it was the chowder that...I kept returning for. Needless to say during my five day visit to Victoria, I ate here three times, it was that good! The outdoor seating on the pier is a plus especially since you get a front row view of the Inner Harbour while eating fresh, tasty seafood. I highly recommend this eatery if you ever visit Victoria.More

We stopped by around noon, finding a very long line, which we expected. Decided to return later hoping it would be less busy. Back after 3 pm to find a line just as long. Ordered halibut & chips. Once we finally ordered, food was up...pretty quickly. The fish was fine, though nothing special. The chips however were overcooked & hard as rocks! I was also surprised & disappointed that they do not serve a wedge of lemon, which I consider essential with fish. For what we paid ($56), there should be lemon.More

This was by far the #1 thing for us in all of our visit to Victoria! We loved it so much we came back, twice!! Each time we visited outside of rush hours and still had to wait about half an hour so plan accordingly...but don’t let the queue discourage you! The fresh BC haddock fish and chips is to die for and the chowder was some or the best we’ve ever had! Soooo worthMore

Best fast seafood place in Victoria. Amazing staples like Halibut and chips, but so much more. Try the chowder, incredible! Tuna is unbelievably tender and tasty. While the line is long, it is worth the wait,

While not easy to locate, when there you discover a line! It was worth the wait; the batter was terrific and the fish perfectly cooked. The chips were excellent as well. Classy, no, but good food at fair prices.
