Best place for an outdoor lunch on a warm sunny April day. The lines are long (locals and tourists come for lunch) but service is efficient and friendly. A bit stressful trying to figure out where we were going to sit, but we found an...awesome seat once we ordered. The chowder was yummy and so was the wild salmon tacone. So fresh!! We weren’t hungry enough for the fish and chips but they looked awesome. We can’t wait to visit Victoria again to have lunch here.More

Fabulous fish and chips! We knew from the long queue that this was bound to be good and we were not disappointed It’s a fish and chip van on the harbour with outdoor seating around the harbour wall. Some covered seating but we didn’t use...it. Had to queue, obviously, but we’ll worth the waitMore

Order the chowder- best.chowder.ever. Like ever! I could have eaten it all week. My partner got a fish sandwich and it was super tasty. I got a tacone and I liked his sandwich better. But the chowder…. just amazing. Massive line when we arrived and...felt like we literally stood forever. Seating is limited but people don’t seem to linger too long after eating and we were able to grab a seat. Would definitely come back here.More

Came across this place by chance whilst walking along the waterfront. Delicious freshly cooked fish & chips. I had Halibut and my wife had Cod and we both really enjoyed our meals. Nice place to sit outside and watch the sunset

This restaurant has a wonderful location, right on the harbor. Walking there and observing all the boats and harbor activity was amazing. I ate my fish while taking in everything going on. There was a long line up to place our order but the wait...was not long to collect the food. There are single seats along the waterfront and a few tables. The number of tables is insufficient for the number of people waiting and this was only at about 3:30. I was a bit disappointed in the fish; it was overdone. The fries were good. Given all the positive reviews of the food, I definitely will try again with the hope that my tough fish was a one-of. I would have gone with a three rating but went with four due to the location.More

Few restaurants live up to the hype. Red Fish Blue Fish does. All the fish are carefully prepared and delicious and well worth the wait (which can be long at peak periods). Best times to come are when they open (11 am) or mid to...late afternoon when they are less busy. I went twice on a four day trip. The first time we had ahi tacones which were lightly seared and melted in our mouths, and a salmon sandwich (equally tasty). We did not have the classic fish and chips because we had fish and chips the previous day for lunch but we were told they were extraordinary (they have cod, haddock, and salmon). My second trip I tried the jerkfish tacone (a mix of haddock, cod, hallibut and salmon) which was OK but not as good as the ahi tacone. I also had the fish chowder which was chock full of fish, corn, and potatoes and was a cross between a Manhattan fish chowder (red) and a New England fish chowder (white) with a taste of siracha (but not spicy hot). I only wish they had some comfortable tables and chairs or even picnic benches, and not just uncomfortable metal bar stools. Also, the food is reasonably priced and better than what you can get at the nearby Empress hotel.More

The battered salmon and chips are phenomenal, as is the poutine. The chowder is excellent as well. We came here for every lunch during our trip to Victoria, and we can’t wait to come back next time we’re in town.

Long line, but line moved pretty quickly. Great fish and great harbor views! Out of all the chowders we ate on the West Side of the island and in Victoria - this one had coconut milk, which I liked! Tacones are pretty filling - 3...for 2 hungry adults worked!More

Yes, you may have to line up to experience the Halibut Fish and chips and coleslaw. Yes, it is located on the wharf and cooked out of a shipping container. Yes, it is no longer the "secret" of the locals of Victoria. Because it is...amazing! So much fun. The staff are remarkably cheerful and polite and hardworking considering the hours and the people who want to experience this. It is worth it - go!More

Some reviews say the (30 minutes in our case) queue is worth it - others not. We are in the don’t bother camp. The food was pretty average - overcooked chips but fish nice. However, this place is definitely over hyped. Lord knows why they...can’t serve quicker as well…More

Hi..only place I know where you tip before receiving and eating your food. Tip in advance for the order guy who also serves drinks and chowder. Definately order chowder as you get it immediately before your fish...and the chowder is worth it. Our Halbit and...fries less impressive and albacore tuna came in 2 different colors, one pinkish, one brownish piece together in the wrap. Tasteless, needed a spicy mayo maybe. Stomach did not appreciate the albacore.More

We got there when they first opened. (We'd noticed that a massive line was the norm, later in the day.) I'd seen it recommended so thought we'd give it a try. They were surly and the fish tacone gave me indigestion.
