Awesome. I had been in way too long since I was here. The Spring menu was still on and it was fabulous. Cocktails great, Perfect presentation. Service was tops. Nice to know that Eric is still running a top restaurant after all this time and he can trust his staff with the details. I'll be back much more often.

We went there upon recommendation of the host of our airbnb and were not disappointed. The menu is made of local food and it is very good. We had the fish and the pork belly which were both delicious. Good portion but made with attention to detail and cooked perfectly. Exactly what you expect from upscale french restaurant. Add great service and you get a perfect evening. Thank you Alta!

Food is good but service is bad. very much, hey we know you’re here to ski so not likely to come back. At least not until next year and there are plenty of other guests that will try us out. We don’t care what impression you leave with. Highlights: 30 mins sitting at the table waiting to order even drinks. Then waitress spills water all over one party’s menu, no apology or wiping the spill. The highlight is that she drops the plate with the main dish and the the vegetables, sauce and meat fall all over the table. She picks up meat and veggies with bare hands and says “I’ll have this replated for you”.5-10 mins the dish is back, hopefully a new one (although unlikely since they apparently cook all from scratch). Not even a symbolic deduction from the bill. Note that dishes were all north of 60 dollars per dish. Definitely not recommending and not coming back.

Overall, not a fantastic experience at Alta. Seated 15 minutes late, despite arriving at our reservation time. Seated at a table that still had a dirty glass on it, pretty slow service but otherwise was enjoyable. Both drinks and food menus were severely limited; however, our options that we selected for both were terrific. Not sure if prices accurately reflect the value of the experience; food was exceptional but thats about it.

Quaint French bistro with an alpine atmosphere. One feels like they’ve stepped inside a French Alps delight. The cuisine impeccable; oysters were the best we had in Whistler. Interesting twists on mains including coffee-basted elk made for scrumptious delights. The sable fish was tender and flavorful. And the sourdough bread practically melted in your mouth. On top of the culinary treats, the wine service was amazing. The way the sommelier opened and presented the bottle, provided for tastings and poured was miles beyond any other Whistler experience, and definitely added to the class of the restaurant. With this amazing experience, one might thing Alta Bistro might suffer an aire of prevention. Certainly not the case, as the entire staff warmly welcomed us and our children. It was an evening to remember.

Alta bistro is a busy little room, in a good way! Service is spot on and the menu is bold, showing the best of local foods and what happens when a chef dares to do his thing. Nick was our friendly server. We started with Gin Martini’s and shared a dozen delicious oysters. Followed by Elk with coffee sumac , amazing!! and my husband had the melt in your mouth beef cheek which he loved also. Nice & kindly priced wine list, with an excellent suggestion to try the Bonarda with our mains. Only two desserts on the menu and we were celebrating, so we decided on the affogato with apricot liqueur and Vanilla bean parfait… mmm! A couple of surprise complimentary grappa were brought to us by Nick, sent us home with a warm & fuzzy feeling! Good for a date night or for small groups.

Vegetarian menu very limited. Apparently French cuisine but if you are European you will disagree with the categorisation. Enjoy the weirdness of being charged ‘EHB’ aka employee health benefit on top of the sales tax and liquor tax when you come to pay.

The restaurant is NOT honest and hidden charge. The restaurant tried to grab your little money in thing you don't really think of. Below is our experience. 1) After we sat down, the waitress asked "Do you want anything to drink." We said ONE hot water. The waitress did NOT mention any charge for the hot water and the hot water is just normal hot water (NOT sparkling water hot water). There is nothing about the charge for hot water in the menu. You will asked why there are TWO $2.50 charge for hot water when only one person asking for hot water. Guess what, a refill of the normal hot water also got charge for another $2.50. So one $2.5 for the 1st cup and refill is another $2.50. (see picture attached) 2) When we ask for the bill, there is EHB charge on the bill. It is called Employee Health Benefits. We asked the waitress what is it. The waitress said she doesn't really know because it is her "first day" and she said it is mandatory because it is just like the tax that the computer calculate for each bill. We didn't know we can opt out the EHB after we came back home when we talked to our friend and search online. SUMMARY 1) Ask about anything for any charge including hot water. Maybe there is a hidden knife and plate cleaning fee charge later on (who know). 2) Ask to OPT OUT for the EHB before you pay the bill if you don't want to pay. In case the restaurant change and update the website, I want to mention that as of Oct 31 2023 (when I write this post) the menu still didn't mention about hot water is being charge and any thing about EHB. Not sure will the restaurant change and update their website after they seeing my post.

We enjoyed a three course meal here. The food was innovative and offered some interesting flavours. Service was very good. The reason for four stars was it was not as good as the last time we were there. Some dishes were good but lacked something special to take it to the next level. We would definitely go back but may try a few other places rather than going straight back here.

Had a really good evening enjoying the Table D’Hote menu plus a bottle of Canadian wine. This restaurant has a good selection of Canadian wines which we have not found on our trip to Canada so far. Don (our server) enthusiastically described the menu options and the Alta Bistro philosophy of sourcing local produce. So pleased we chose this restaurant on our last night in Whistler.

Welcoming customer service, lovely ambiance and MY GOD the best, most mouth-watering food ever! Like ever! My husband had the pork cheeks and literally the phrase he uttered out of his first bite was "HOLY F$*&". I had the vegetarian mushroom potato dish and probably one of the top most flavorful dishes I have ever had in my life! I repeat.....in my life! For cocktails I had the In Bloom and my Lord.....that elderflower taste and the sweetness....KUDOS to what may be the best bartender in the world for creating something so GOD-LIKE! Greatest tastes all night long! Drinks or food, it was like heaven in our mouths all night. I am not making this up!

Be sure to make reservation otherwise the place is completely full by 7 pm. The ambience is both cozy and electric, definitely a typical French bistro. We enjoyed the organic sourdough focaccia that was served with creamy navy beans, dukkah, and olive oil. For main entrees, got the smoked lamb belly & seared scallop [caramelized honey & black garlic, jalapeno salsa, braised white beans, pickled rhubarb, mint]. Also the mushroom gnocchi. Both were artfully plated, explosion of amazing flavors. For desert, we got the chocolate mousse that came in a pistachio green shell!! The presentation was wonderful, and just as delicious! Best meal of the trip! Our waitress was very friendly and efficient.

Of the fine dining restaurants in Whistler, along with the Rim Rock, this is my favourite. The food is good, a little bit different (eg bison burger). Service is excellent. But what makes it for me is that it is not feel vast like many of the other top Whistler restaurants, it does not feel too formal and has a friendly vibe. I would recommend it.
