This tops my worst ever restaurant meal in years - can’t recall when I’ve had worse. We were seated in the “attic” - a small, dark room with low ceilings and stifling heat. Our waited told us this was b/c we didn’t have a reservation...but as we were in line prior to opening, we heard others talking about how they didn’t have reservations…none of them ended up seated in the attic…maybe as well have been a dungeon. When I mentioned this to the server, I then overheard him telling the bartender about me - how difficult I am, even my family things so, etc. It’s difficult to enjoy your meal when the staff are talking about you thinking you can’t hear.
That set the tone - but the food made it worse. Best part of the meal was the bread…oh, and cocktail was good. The prawn small plate was undercooked and drenched in some weird green sauce. My stuff poblano was filled with rice, potato chunks, corn, and more rice…pepper itself was soggy and tasted like eggplant. The rest of the dish was a pile of you guessed it, more flavourless rice. My husbands meal was “okay” - well, the meat was - although it’s meant to be melt in your mouth - more like tough and chewy. But the veggies - wow - soggy, overcooked, and cold…I’m pretty sure they’re frozen and/precooked…same with the pepper. I get making them in advance but the dish was no doubt microwaved. Unfortunate thing, my husband has taken countless clients there over the year, as well as his team from work, (he’s there maybe twice a year on average), and we were both looking forward to a nice meal after a busy, fun day. We won’t be back…and he won’t be taking people back again. Hope they stop resting on their laurels, prior rep, and transient guests…doubt locals are eating there.
PS - the photos show my husbands mushy veggies - uneaten, the rice left on my plate after eating the poblano, and a photo of someone else’s poblano they posted a few years back - mine didn’t look like that!More
