Here is a community devastated by travel restrictions from COVID 19. Last year they had only 10% of tourism and this year 20% of normal numbers. They also dealt with a loss of train service to Churchill a few years ago that dramatically increased costs of food snd supplies because it became a “fly in” community. Lazy Bear has survived everything thrown at it snd thrived. The menu is imaginative and features some local products such as Arctic Char and Pickerel and some produce from their local greenhouse. The dining room is rustic pine with a fireplace used in cold weather. Service can be spotty at times because they are short staffed and putting in 14 hour days so kudos to them. The rooms are comfortable as are the linens. Toiletries are high quality. In the end it comes down to staff. These people are amazing and kudos to them

The lodge is pretty and the servers are very sweet and friendly. Since everyone tends to eat at the same time, the servers can be slow due to the rush. The food was very good and our table-mates also agreed. It is a dry restaurant but they have lemonade, tea, juices, etc. They also accommodate early tours by opening early. I saw comments about price. Everything in Churchill is imported in unless it's locally procured so prices are high everywhere. :)

Food was excellent. My family of 5 ate supper here 4 days in a row. Arctic char, bison, elk, pasta dishes, burgers, everything was very tasty. They don’t serve alcohol but honestly meals were so tasty I didn’t miss it. I appreciated also that they were open for sit down dining while the other restaurants in town were only doing takeout. It was very busy but the serving staff always had smiles on their faces. Very nice atmosphere. If you are Churchill definitely put them on your list for dining.

We ate 5 meals at the Lazy Bear Cafe. The menu was varied and the servers were very nice. The food was generally tasty but some items needed to be sent back for re-heating. At lunch & dinner, it took a while to get our food after ordering even though the restaurant was not crowded.

Food is hard to come by in the summer in Churchill. There were three restaurants open for limited hours. (The other two are more casual Dining. One place, the Seaport, was closed while we were there.) Food in any form in Churchill is terrifically expensive given the difficulty of shipping it in. We enjoyed several meals st the Lazy Bear. Food and veggies are fresh, very well prepared and nicely presented. The French fries are hand made, fresh and amazing. Desserts good too! The log lodge is charming. Like everything in Churchill, prices are high, but these meals were worth it. Oh, and no Alcohol is served here.

We were served an unacceptable meal at this establishment. Both dishes were inedible. The meat portion of one of the dinners was off. It was smothered with a gravy most likely from a can. The attempt to hide the flavour and smell of the meat was unsuccessful and very insulting to us as customers.

The restaurant had really great food, whether it was the lunch buffet upon arrival (the lasagna was probably my favorite of the week), a lot of choices on breakfast buffet, and lunch and dinner - the burgers were surprisingly so tasty and I normally don't care much for burgers. We were here on a several day tour where the food was all included, and we were all very happy with the delicious food here and glad to eat here 3 times a day for the food. From steaks to salads, it was all very good. I don't think there was anything we had, that we didn't enjoy, although I will say I personally didn't care for the coffee. I thought it was terrible no matter how I ordered it. I thought maybe it had something to do with the water, but I made k-cup coffee in the lobby and that tasted fine... The service was another story. We ended up having a couple waitresses that did a good job, but usually, the servers were not friendly, brought me the wrong thing a couple times and never fixed it, and kept running away as I was trying to talk to her (she did this to the table next to me too. We both had to ask for silverware as she was running away after dropping off our food; I don't know why she didn't bring several and put in the bucket on each table like all the other tables had or how she didn't realize nobody at her tables had silverware....) The first night, our dinner took exactly 2 hours from start to finish and that is without appetizers or desserts. About an hour in, we just went up and asked someone else to get our waters & sodas, as it didn't seem like our waitress was ever going to do it. She had one large table, then us. Between us, she would keep coming over to ask a question she forgot to ask or didn't understand, but like after 20 minutes in between each question. So you think maybe your salad will be coming out and your food almost ready, only to have her come over and say "how did you want your steak done?" or "what was the side you wanted?" Over & over again it went on like that. Then 2 other tables were seated long after we were, and some of them got food before we did (although it was 1 at one table, and 1 at another - their partners had to wait while they watched the other one eat their dinner!) It was one of the worst services I've had, and I'm usually very forgiving and understanding in this area since I used to be a waitress. Bottom line - the food is a solid 5 stars. The service was not.

Great staff, friendly and knowledgeable. Food was local and done extremely well. Note, they are not licensed but you can bring your own wine in from outside if you pour yourself. We ate here alot and enjoyed every meal.

Only restaurant open in town but they are outstanding! The chef and waitress are rocking it. They are super busy with an influx of tourists after a lousy 18 months but kudos to those running this restaurant. Two nights in a row and looking forward to tomorrow night.

My husband and I came here for lunch (arctic char melt, corned beef Reuben, and sausage gumbo or jambalaya), then returned again for dinner (pan fried arctic char with baked potatoes). The servers are friendly and the food was good. Dinner took awhile to come out due to a kitchen backup (45 mins), but it seemed that was a rarity. Lunch was served in a normal time frame. We found this to be the nicest restaurant in town.

The Lazy Bear Lodge is where the cafe is located. We ate lunch there but the menu provides for everything. The meal was great, fairly priced and was an enjoyable place to spend some quiet time. Service was superb.

This spot is a great place for good food. We went for dinner with a group of 8 people. The menu options are excellent, the service was very good and the food was prepped quickly. There is a gift shop attached to the restaurant.

We happily visited Lazy Bear cafe a few times during our time in Churchill and with good reason. Our waiter Heino was fabulous!! He was efficient, friendly, helpful and informative. The food is REALLY plentiful, the coffee delicious, and the menu is amazing. Definitely make this a lunch (or dinner) stop while in town. Highly recommended.

There was not any other option but overall the food was good. The service was very slow. No fruit options for desert. I tried hamburger once and that was not very good. Very leathery and hard to chew. Chicken sandwich, Taco, appetizers and soup were all good.

Dining options are a bit limited in the "off-season" and we were delighted the Café was open. We enjoyed two delicious meals - lunch and dinner - with wonderful and attentive service. The food was excellent!
