Delicious perogies, falafels, pancakes, burgers , corned beef sandwiches. Service may be slow! This is part of the experience. Busy lunch hours! It is so warming to see families with their cute and noisy kids. I really like the family-oriented atmosphere of the place! Good...More

With the dearth of Jewish delis, you have to give the few left some leeway. Bernstein’s tries to keep some of the traditions alive while also trying to be accessible for the hip crowd. As a traditionalist I admire the chopped liver, corned beef and...More

From the staff to the food, this place is real. Not fancy, just real. While I didn't really enjoy my breakfast that much, it was likely my fault as much as the restaurant. I'll try it again.

Great food. Cheap. Never too busy. Also the best pancakes in the city. I’ve had out of town day best they have ever had. So perhaps best in Country!

Casual deli atmosphere lent itself well to a group getting together for breakfast as they do take reservations. Service was pleasant but not rushed. Menu offered lots of choices and several vegetarian options. Standout items were the rye toast (gorgeous thick slices tasted to perfection),...More

Bernstein’s is my go-to restaurant for comfort food. The latkes are deliciously simple and they make any day better. The illegal curve sandwich is, in my opinion, the best original item on the menu. The service is always friendly but not forceful or overbearing like...More

A very good place for food! Incredibly busy at lunch! Wonderful soups, deconstructed lox platter, and super deli sandwiches! Take some great foods home with you as you also explore the deli! Servers in the restaurant need some training - smiles will help!

Me and my husband went today for the first time, to check out their burger during Le Burger Weekend. It is a pretty straight forward deli restaurant; not a whole bunch of seats, you can browse their selection of Kosher products while you wait for...More

I am a fussy person ! Crispy bacon, sunny side eggs, well done french fries, buttered rye toast with jam. They get it right all the time, plus the service is with a smile ! The workers are obviously happy to be there. That tells...More

I came there with friends for brunch a couple of weekends ago and the staff easily accommodated a large group. Varied and delicious menu options. Definitely recommended!

Description
Bernstein's Deli has served the River Heights community for over 32 years. We have a diverse mix of classic deli fare, Jewish specialties and diner food. Most of what is served in the restaurant is available to take home from the deli. The majority of the food is made from scratch and with a healthy dose of love. We offer 6 types of burger patties made from scratch (beef, turkey, bison, bison reuben, black bean wild rice and chickpea almond), mix our pancake batter in small batches, pound, coat and fry our own chicken schnitzel and fingers and so much more. Old World offerings like chopped liver, gefilte fish, potato latkes, beef brisket, matzo ball soup (along with over 20 other types of soup), the list goes on and on. We also import grocery items from South Africa and sell our famous biltong out of our back freezer (ask for it at the deli counter). Lots of choices for those that are vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, picky, fussy or just plain hard to please, our goal is to please them all! Open almost every day, we currently only close on Victoria Day, Christmas Day, Remembrance Day and Canada Day. We offer office catering, meals of condolence, custom cooking solutions, holiday meal catering and anything else you may need.
