We've been searching for a new favourite, since our previous go-to Chinese restaurants have closed, but unfortunately it looks like the search will continue. While Diner's Choice isn't BAD, it didn't quite measure up to our expectations either. Quantities are about what you'd expect and...the prices are reasonable, but overall we were disappointed. Beef and Broccoli was probably the best dish, flavourful and cooked just right. Ginger Beef was decent and tasty. Chicken Balls were slightly above average, more chicken than dough. Breaded Pork was light and crisp, similar to typical restaurant chicken fingers in texture and taste. Chicken Fried Rice was lacklustre, a little soggy and the chicken pieces were chewy. Mixed Vegetables were nothing special, and came swimming in a sauce that didn't suit them. The biggest disappointment, however, was the Honey Spiced Chicken. This is the one "signature dish" that has been so elusive in our search. Diner's Choice's version was a huge letdown. Basically a chicken finger covered in what tasted like a typical store bought sauce from a jar. Not at all up to the standards we would expect. Also, as someone else pointed out, this is not a place to eat in. Strictly for take-out. You could do a lot worse than Diner's Choice, but we will be moving on and not looking back.More
