I placed an online order with Ming Court because my favourite Chine restaurant (Azalea) closed earlier this year and friends recommended Ming Court. Where do I start? Complaint #1:According to the online menu, my meal (consomme soup -$2.50 and Kung Po chicken - $13.20) should...have totalled $16.70. Even with tax and the delivery fee, my bill should have been under $25.00, but, for some reason, I had to pay $27.66 when it was finally delivered. Complaint #2: I placed my order at 4.55 p.m. I was told it would arrive in an hour. It arrived at 6:38:12 (says so, right on my debit receipt!) Complaint #3: The consomme soup was sweet to the taste, not with the beefy taste one expects. And the Kung Po chicken was dry, overly spiced and darn near inedible. I will not be patronizing Ming Court again. Rene Jamieson, WinnipegMore

I was SO hungry for Chinese food and had to settle for a SkiptheDishes run. Chose Ming Court based on its great reviews. Well.... I've got to say it was the most mediocre Chinese meal I've had in Winnipeg. Mostly bland "crispy hot ginger beef"...tasted of ginger and nothing else. Beef was soggy. Noodle dish was similarly bland. Shrimp, beef and pork in the noodles were nicely cooked. No amount of extra soy or hot sauce could give this much flavor.More

This is the 2nd time we have tried Ming Court & the food I is an excellent experience. Portions are huge & the flavors are to die for. The lemon chicken is the best we’ve ever had at any restaurant. Fried rice & veggies are...so flavorful. And the won ton soup delicious! I don’t usually eat Chinese food but this place has certainly changed my mind with all the wonderful flavors! And the service staff are so very friendly. If you get a chance to try Ming Court... don’t pass it up!More

Ordered Skip the Dishes tonight. Food arrived super quickly (like 15 minutes) which may be a bad sign? Food was inedible. Asked for both orders extra hot, which they were. But the Szechuan Chicken which was supposed to be "hot and sweet flavour" was just...a greasy soggy mess, with zero flavour. I usually find Chinese food too salty, but this dish had not salt at all, tasted like oil and water. Not good. The Ginger Hot Shrimp was a strange soggy mess as well--odd blend of vegetables and no discernible flavour other than rough ginger and the chillis. We have enjoyed the food at Ming Court a lot in the past, but tonight was a real disappointment.More

Ordered delivery while in town for a few days, based on others' reviews. My Chinese restaurant go-to is Shanghai Noodles and Szechuan Chicken. So that's what I ordered... The delivery was quick, price was average and the food was quite good. However, the 'Szechuan Chicken'...(which is listed under 'Hot & Spicy' on the website) was not as advertised. Instead, it was almost certainly General Tao. It was heavily breaded and tasted sweet. I called the restaurant to explain I believed there had been a mistake. The response was that I can put hot sauce on the dish to make up for it, and that they can't adjust the spiciness of their dishes to suit everyone. I explained that my problem wasn't just the heat of the dish, but that it was the wrong dish altogether. The food was still good but I dock points for the apparent error. Bit of a letdown.More

Well, a few people from work said it was awesome so I needed to try it myself. The lunch menu is pretty basic - which is ok. The first visit was ok - had a shrimp stir fry with noodles. Not a ton of food...but enough for lunch at an ok price. Wanting to try it again I had the Deluxe wonton soup and while it was hearty enough - it no zero taste. One last try a week later and the chicken stir fry with rice wasn't that great. The flavor was good but the chicken was the cheap pieces with lots of fat and skin. That's pretty much it. It's ok in a crunch but wouldn't go out of my way.More

Very impressed with the quality, quantity and the taste of the dishes! The service and staff were excellent too! I ususally dine out at least 5 times a month at various restaurants and by far this one is the BEST! I'm sure my friends totally...agree since we ate everything. We would definitely recommend this restaurant ! Wendy and friendsMore

What I love about this place in addition to super tasty food and the variety, is the superb service. We had reservation for 12 people and when we arrived a little earlier, our table is already set. Quick service without compromising food quality. No wonder...they were celebrating their 37th anniversary. The space though is small, but it's the least I worry about and that wouldn't stop me for going back.More

I have enjoyed the food and service at this location only a few times in the past. The location is in a great downtown area, parking and bus close. The entrance feels like you are stepping back in time and you get to the lounge...first. The dining room is off the lounge up a short flight of stairs. Handicap access?? The seating is not the best, however, once the food starts to come out, you will forget about the seat. One standout of the evening were the scallop and sweet peas. I was hopeful and was so happy I ordered this amazing dish.More

We've been Ming customers for a few years now. The former owners were fabulous and so was the food. We were excited to see if the new owners were just as good. Well they are and the food is fabulous, with the portions being even...bigger! Granted there is a new Chef, but the dishes seemed to be pretty much the same, so we were very pleased! This is our "must" stop when in Winnipeg for really good Chinese and has never disappointed us yet! We'll be back again in October and can't wait!More

Ming Court has been our "go to" Chinese food restaurant for the last 25 years, but ownership changed hands this summer. We tried it today, and were very hopeful given that all our favourite dishes were still on the menu. Sad to say, the recipes were...not the same at all. Some of our beloved dishes were almost unrecognizable - the ginger hot beef, cantonese style house chow mein, and hot & sour soup were completely different and not to our taste. Other dishes - duck with chinese pancakes, shrimp almondie, egg foo yung - were recognizable but not nearly as good. In some cases portions are larger, but the bill was also higher than it used to be. Packaging food for take-out was an issue. A very sad day for us, and we will start looking for a new standby restaurant.More

Sorry to hear about that some dishes are not meeting your expectation. The new recipes are from newer Northern Chinese style. Thank you for the input. We will work on it to improve the services. Have a great day.
