I am very surprised at the state of the Fairmont but I'll leave that for a review of the actual hotel. We went for high tea at $66 a person to the velvet glove. I was disappointed in the freshness of the bread which was...very crusty and dry, the salmon eclair was very good. The fois graswas good, but the Monet vegetable boat was bland and tasteless as well. The duck rilette Andy was very stringy and watery. The tuna Tartar rice was not just crispy, but old tasting and not enough flavouring sauce on top very bland. As for the desserts, the passionfruit cheesecake was good as was the Monique cookie the petty for tasted like it it was coated in Betty Crocker icing the whole thing for $66 was an extreme disappointment. While everything looked lovely, they have sacrificed flavour for looks We waited over 40 minutes just to get a cup of tea at the beginning, I would not recommend particularly at that priceMore

I got a smoked meat sandwich from the Grab and Go, and when I opened the box to eat it, the bread was dry and disgusting. The plastic-wrapped half of a pickle was slimy and gross. Pretty sure it wasn't made fresh today. Yucko.

We held a Celebration Of Life for my husband, who passed away recently at Ths Velvet Glove. Megan Carlson, Director Of Outlets, and her team were both professional and helpful to help guide us during this difficult time. Everything was well organized and helped to...lessen our stress. Our family and friends were so impressed with the whole ambience and the quality of the menu. Kudos to Megan and her team for an excellent job well done. 🇨🇦🍁👍🏾👍🏾More

Went here for Le Burger week, so this review is based on their entry to this event. Location is in the Fairmont, so it’s a plus. However, because of the pandemic, the restaurant is closed, and only the lounge is opened. They do practice social...distancing so only a few tables are open and the lounge is small. So consider waiting in line. Waiting in line was confusing since there was no receptionist. So you actually have to wait in line, and someone will come and tell you “you may come in.” Otherwise, you’d be wondering because no one is at the door greeting people and letting them know that there is a wait or at least someone to take your names to put on a list. So that was really confusing and far least expected. The burger - buns were awesome, charred and crispy. The black angus was perfect, not too fatty, very lean, and tastes good. The “wagyu” wasn’t a real wagyu. It was like a portion if a steak with fat. It still tasted good though. The only thing is I thought the sauces didn’t compliment the meats. There was this peachy sauce in top of the bun, the mustard was amazing, and then there was some peanut-like sauce on the bottom bun. All flavours were so strong that it contradicted each other and didn’t really match with the meats. Overall, I still think it was good. Service was awesome, the servers are really nice. This burger came with mixed berry sweet tea for the price of the burger ($18), you can have fries or salad for an extra $5. I got the fries and they were so good!! Consider also that parking is scarce in this area. You may need to park on the street or in parkades nearby for a price. Street parking is free after 17:30.More

We took my mom to Velvet Glove Dec 27th for her Birthday and WOW, we got the best service! Mara was out waitress and she took VERY good care of us! My mom said it was her best birthday ever, and she's had 78 of...them! Chef Daniel came out to wish her a Happy Birthday which thrilled my mom, and he made her a special creme brulee. All the food was delicious but the standouts were the milk buns, chicken wings, perogies, brussel sprouts and the ribeye steaks. We came to celebrate a milestone birthday this past Saturday, August 10 & I feel inclined to share our experience because it was simply exceptional. The hostess Daniela was welcoming and our table looked lovely with rose petals on it. A glass of bubbly was...offered to us as we toasted my Mom to celebrate her 60th birthday and a card was on the table signed from the employees in the restaurant/kitchen – they actually knew my Mom’s name and signed the card in ink, I honestly can’t think of another restaurant that would take the time to do this. Both Cameron & Carly were fabulous and made sure we were taken care of with such kindness – what a great team. I believe the menu is somewhat new & everyone enjoyed their dish, from the milk buns to the salmon & rib eye. The Chef even took the time to add something to the meal that wasn’t listed on the menu when we requested it! I simply can’t praise enough – if you’re celebrating something special, the Velvet Glove/the Fairmont Winnipeg is the only place to do it. Thank you again for making a wonderful memory for our family.More

This past Saturday I went to the velvet glove restaurant for dinner with some friends. Our server, Mara was very polite and knowledgeable about the wine and the menu. We ordered a healthy amount of appetizers along with a 40 day aged rib eye for...myself for the main course. The food spoke for itself, I would have to say the Velvet Glove produced some of the best food I have eaten in the entire city. Chef Daniel came out and introduced himself to the table and was very accommodating as we had a severe fish allergy at the table as well. Overall Chef Daniel provided a fantastic dining experience for us and I would be glad to go back again. Highly recommended for a fine dining experience.More

I recently celebrated my engagement at the VG restaurant. The new menu is lovely and delicious. Everything is more family style/ A la carte which I appreciate much better then the traditional menu. Some Highlights were the appetizers: Pork belly, and the hand-made ravioli in...a mushroom cream sauce (Absolutely breathtaking!) They also served a side of fried arugula and red quinoa (amazing!) For dinner the highlights were our beautifully cut and seasoned rib-eye steak and the salmon. Both were stunning in presentation and in taste. for dessert we had the white chocolate cake that was filled with Saskatoon berries. We all shared a glass of champagne, and finally the smores dessert. Absolutely. Delicious! The waitress(es) (one was training and she was a delight) were both attentive, kind, and gave us the complimentary champagne and biscuit (that went with out dessert/ coffee) for our celebration. The waitresses allowed us space to go through the menu as well as were open to any questions we had. We were at the restaurant for upwards to 3 hours and they continued their wonderful service throughout! We love VG, this is the fourth time we have visited this restaurant. out of all our experiences at VG (which have all been pleasant and delicious) my partner and I both agree that this time because of the delicious new menu it was certainly a highlight! We definitely praise the chef, what a delicious menu they have created! We hope to come back to this restaurant to celebrate another event!More

The dress code is “casual chic “, meaning a jacket and shirt, but no tie. Designer jeans would be just fine, but no cut offs, torn jeans, or tank tops....so you’ll be just fine.
