I was looking for real Chinese food for a while and found Golden Loong. Oh wow, this place actually makes authentic Chinese food. No gross chicken balls and sugar sauce crap here, just amazing food. You have to try #3 on the menu. Unbelievable spicy...handmade noodles!More

If you’re expecting Canadian-Chinese food here, like deep-fried meat with gloop - this place will not be to your liking - please move along. However, if you’re willing to experience Chinese cuisine that caters to the sizeable expat Chinese community here in Winnipeg then I...would suggest this place. Chinese cuisine is very diverse in flavour and technique, and this place serves up freshly made dishes from scratch, hand pulled noodles, and lots of flavour and heat. There’s no condiments, just chopsticks and bowls - that’s all you need. We had: #57 Peppery Chicken (deep fried chicken pieces mixed with chilli pepper, whole peppercorns and peanuts), #9 Noodles with Lamb and Cumin (kinda like curried noodles), and #Beef with Mushroom and Beansprouts (sautéed beef with the veggies in a beautiful soy sauce). The portions are huge, so come with a large group and experiment with the menu. Enjoy!!!More

We had a delicious meal. The Restaurant was hopping with lots of young people. Come with an open mind and palette. The flavours are unusual and will keep you guessing. The serving staff was helpful and friendly.

What a great find. The hand pulled noodles we had were so very good. Ordered the Beef noodle soup which was excellent - great broth, lots of meat, and a huge amount of hand ripped noodles. As well, got the spicy pork and noodles which...was spiced perfectly - nice and hot, but not mouth-numbingly so. If I lived in Winnepeg I would be a regular here.More

Had a good lunch here the other day. We had two different noodle dishes, the #3 (I think pork and wide noodles) and the wide noodles with chicken and cumin. I LOVED the #3 dish. I would have preferred more meat, but it was still...really good. The sauce on it was delicious. Neither of us were a fan of the cumin chicken dish. We did not care for the spices in it. We also thought that the chicken had an extremely weird texture to it. Overall, we were happy that we came here.More

This was our first-time here, and our first-time eating traditional mainland Chinese food. The Place: Located in a strip mall, the restaurant has several names listed about the entrance, and around the building, which can be confusing. The main room has about eight bench tables....And a second room for private functions. It has an open kitchen concept, which can be seen when walking in. The decor and benches are dated. The menu is quite large and written in both Chinese and English, with pictures of most dishes. Although strangely enough, there's no description of how the dish is prepared, or the ingredients. It only lists the name of the dish, which doesn't help. The Food: We ordered: #2 Cold Noodle (cold dish)(staff recommended) as an appetizer $6.98; #3 Spicy Pork Hand-Ripped Noodle (hot dish) $10.98 - very spicy; #8 Cold Egg Noodle With Shredded Chicken (cold dish) $10.95. We were told all the noodles were made in-house. The portions are quite large and filling. It was more food then the two of us could eat. We're use to eating Catonese style dishes, so we found these dishes very bland, but very spicy. And what flavour the food did have wasn't pleasant. The Service: We had dinner on a week night, and the small restaurant was packed with young Asian couples. However, the service was still fast. And although our waiter was very polite, and we could understand him, he did struggle to express himself in English. Overall: We found that it was great value for our money. And the service was excellent. And although the food was presentable, and appeared to be cooked properly, we just didn't enjoy the flavour of the food. And for that reason alone we won't be back.More

Home made noodle dishes are rare, and the ones here are far superior to the competition further up Pembina. The have a large menu, but we stay with cold noodles (most original dish), and noodles with pork spiy, and occasionally add another dish.

It is to my surprise that the protein in the dishes are so little. If you like floor, you will love this restaurant. I prefere both meat with my noodles in at least 30/70 ratio, not 20-80. It taste okay but nothing that really impress...me. Service is okay. One time dining experience for me.More

Had dinner here on an impulse and it was a pleasant surprise. Not the best décor or service but the food makes up for that. If you like authentic flavourful Chinese food this is the place.

It's always a good sign to see Chinese people in a Chinese restaurant; you can bet you will be served authentic dishes. The Golden Loong is definitely such a restaurant. The fare is unlike any others in the city and definitely not anything like the...westernized items that are served in prairie Chinese cafes. Some of the flavours are bordering on harsh, such as the Szechuan peppercorns, but the noodles and slivered potatoes provide a balance.More

I was surprised to find ourselves the only non-Asian/Asian Canadians in the place, which was fairly busy. The food was quite good, with big portions. Had a great eggplant dish, as well as other things. The service was not inspiring. They did not come to...ask if we wanted more drinks etc. The decor is ok. Would easily come back for lunch or dinner.More

I eat at alot of Chinese Restaurants so when I found out this place had hand pulled noodles I gave it a try. The main stars of the menu are the noodles. The style of cooking here is more of mainland China vs. that of...the cantonese style restaurants along Pembina Highway. I had the spicy pork hand pulled noodles and my girlfriend had the seafood hand pulled noodles. The hand pulled noodles are thick and almost lasagna like in width. If you are a novice with a chopstick, ask for a fork. The noodles are made with flour and water and contain no dairy, so good for anyone with dairy allergies. The flavors were immense and lean more towards the spicy side, not overly spicy to scalding your tongue, but just enough to give you that flavor. This restaurant is like no other in Winnipeg for their style of Chinese food, make a reservation if going on the weekend, the place is rammed.More

This is THE most amazing Chinese food I've ever had in Winnipeg. An endless array of tasty dishes including items that I've never tried but would like to some day. The place was packed with Chinese families so I've made the assumption that the dishes...are authentic. I can't even begin to describe the joy of my palate after eating there. Decor is modest andrices are reasonable.More
