Food was hot, and tasted very good. Portions are on the small side vs price. This is unacceptable if it is somehow due to it being take out. Ordered a Mac and cheese dinner and it was the same size as the side Mac we ordered. Used the same sized containers for both. For the price, that order was very very disappointing. We did order 2 other pasta dishes and they were very good, chorizo chicken penne and scallop fettuccine. Both were very tasty but you pay well for that taste. No complaints overall with those 2 dishes. The final order was fish tacos with side Mac. Fish tacos were flavourful but the portion size was small vs the price of competing restaurants in the area. Can not comment on the side Mac as I gave it to my son who ordered the Mac and cheese dinner and received a paltry portion. He did mention it was good however. Overall Food is flavourful and can compete against most local restaurants Portions are small Prices are too high vs the portion size at time of writing

The Best Gluten Free food in Fredericton

Gahan House Riverside is hands down the best place to get gluten free food in Fredericton. The servers are amazing, if they don't know for certain about ingredients they do not hesitate to go ask the chef. They have several amazing dishes, not just the standard salad offering. The fish tacos were fantastic and they had a GF taco shell option. The sydney street corn was delicious. It is also nice to have a dessert option, the coffee cake never disappoints.

Four of us had dinner Wednesday and we had a great meal. The menu has many good choices, our server was very professional, and the prices were comparable to most in the downtown area. I would certainly return to try other menu items and would absolutely recommend Gahans .. try it ..

Post Covid outing!

The food and service were excellent. So great to see people out dining again. The food as delicious! I had the mussels in curry coconut sauce, comes with a nice biscuit for sopping that wonderful sauce. Also ordered a roasted beet salad,Mobutu couldn't eat it, full from the mussels. It was really good though with goat cheese and candied nuts. It was quite busy in there tonite, but service was prompt and friendly.h

Great place for GF

I ordered a burger and vegetables as a side. The gluten free bun was wonderful, and held up to the burger it didn't get soggy or crumble. There was a mistake at first with my order but they were very quick in making it right and took my allergies very seriously. The gf coffee cake is amazing, its nice to be able to order dessert!

Disappointing

The staff were welcoming and efficient. Food was not great. We had chicken wings and fish tacos. The server recommended the fries as a side that came with the tacos so we took that option. The food came out very quickly so that was my first clue that it wasn't going to be great. Shame because the wings were nicely presented, and the flavors were there (especially loved the pickled veggies), but it was obvious the wings had been reheated (and not very well). We ate most of them because we had been travelling all day and it was late and we were hungry, but when the server asked if she could wrap up the leftovers we gave her our feedback on the meal, including that the fries had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp and just plopped on our plate. To her credit she arranged for one of our drinks to be deducted from the bill, which was appreciated. Still, we likely wouldn't go back there if given the chance.

Bottom shelf experience for top shelf price

This is the second time I dined at the Gahan House in Fredericton, and probably my last for a while. We came in shortly after 13:00, and were seated quickly. Ordered a beer and wine, and the fish cakes as an appetizer–which tasted homemade, and I would recommend. We ordered our lunch shortly thereafter, and it took close to 35 minutes for it to arrive. I have no concerns about waiting for lunch, but the server was conspicuously absent. Our meal arrived–she had the seafood chowder and I the brown bag chicken and chips. She would recommend the chowder, I would recommend avoiding the chicken. Above average: Fish cakes and chowder. They seem to excel with seafood. The seasonal beer (pineapple sour) was tremendous. Below Average: The chicken and chips were bad. The breading was under seasoned, dark and brittle and was probably left in the oil too long–not what you want with fried chicken, and more reminiscent of that nautical themed breakfast cereal that cuts the roof of your mouth to pieces. The dipping sauce looked like honey with dried herbs mixed in, but tasted of sweet on sweet. I’d have said something to the server, but they were AWOL the entire time. I’d have bought two more beer, if someone had just asked. The place was nearly empty (four tables occupied), but the staff were preoccupied with a single guest seated at the bar. I watched two of them talk to him for nearly 30 minutes while I’m desperately wanting an iota of their time to order another drink. Alas… ‘twas not to be, and I had to stand up and ask to settle the bill with the first person I could find. With gratuity, worked out to $50 per person. Overall… a disappointment. My first visit on Tuesday was above average, but yesterday’s experience was average (leaning poor given the total cost). If the experience is a coin flip, I’m not eager to risk $100 on a bad toss, and would probably choose another of the many options in downtown Fredericton.

Great food and service!

Took my parents for a small family dinner. For 3 people $78 isn't that bad. Food was delicious, Mars bar dessert was a little over cooked, but still was edible and delicious! The waiter Sam we had was super nice, and a great waiter! Would definitely recommend this place a little more at night as it's gorgeous and quiet, which is nice!

Average experience for an evening out!

We were able to book a reservation for Saturday evening without any issues. My wife and I ordered "The Ring Bearer Burger" - kids ordered Nachos & Hamburger and Fries. We previewed the menu prior and I found an upgrade to sweet potato fries for $4 on top of a $19 hamburger to be a little much. Not to mention, if you upgraded to onion rings, it was an additional $6. The wife and I both agreed, overall the hamburger meat seemed a little dry & the bun seemed dry. It was a good burger but it could have been a little juicier. The seasoned house fries were very delicious. The kids nachos in my opinion were a disgrace - it was literally nacho chips covered with a very thin layer of cheese (which the waitress did advise prior) - kids hamburger and fries looked good.

Better Amp it Up!

First of all have visited regularly since Gahans has opened in Fredericton. Always made a point of visiting in Charlottetown as liked their beer and food was great brewpub. Have to say this visit certainly wasn’t up to par for service or food. Ordered the chorizo /chicken penne, but couldn’t find the chorizo sausage and chicken may have been 3 slices of a breast. Not to mention the presentation looked like it had been in a casserole dish which they scooped out and baked cheese in n the top. When asked by the waitress how it was I kindly noted my dismay and she said we will prepare you another. Well my fellow diners were well into their meals thus I wouldn’t want to make them uncomfortable by sitting food less. She then asked if I would like complimentary and I stated that’s okay. To that there was no address.

Great brews and food

We had just visited their location in St John’s and enjoyed their oyster/beer special, this location was just as good. Excellent atmosphere, they offered a great selection of oysters and the beers are excellent! We also enjoyed their Jalapeño Cheddar dip with hot pretzel bites, very yummy. Will definitely go back when in town.

We tried the Cauliflower bites perfect appetizer with a mix of sweet and spicy. Definitely try the Mac and Cheese skillet it’s a creamy delight. Joe was our server, great service and a fun experience all around.

We were in town for the weekend with a large group, Gahan House was found online and we are so glad we went! This was everyone’s favourite dining experience while here from Ontario. We made a reservation late in the afternoon on a Friday for a large party, they could only take us at a later time which was totally understandable! Our server was so sweet and gracious with us despite being a big group and having a later arrival. She made recommendations and was very pleasant from the beginning of our dining experience to the end, giving us recommendations for outings and places to go while here! The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their selections- the fries were incredible! We had some late joiners to our group and they were accommodated easily and their food arrived quickly as well! All in all, I would highly recommend coming here. We had a big group but I could see it being perfect for a date night or more intimate group as well! Also- they had non alcoholic beer which as pregnant lady in a brewery forward town was much appreciated!

Haven't been since the pandemic started, but was so happy to be back, Same amazing service, atmosphere and food. Sat inside but the patio looked amazing. Lots of menu choices and portions sizes are perfect. Perfect for dining alone or with one or many. Looking forward to my next visit.

An excellent first time experience.

We sat on the front patio, even though there is a hidden patio out back! We had excellent service, which was handled by two very nice waitresses. One tropical popsicle, one Gahan beer, a coke and Nachos, Seasoned tortilla chips, green onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, Monterey Jack, Cheddar and our Choice of side dips: • Gahan Cheese Dip • Gahan Salsa. Everything was very satisfactory. We would go back again.
