Travelling on the road for business, I frequent many restaurants across the Maritimes. Britts Pub never disappoints. I am always welcomed by the smiling staff there and they make me feel at home on those nights when I am away from home for work. Reeves is the most amazing bartender/server and is always pleasant and polite. Whether it is for lunch or dinner, they have an amazing selection of food that can satisfy any cravings you may have. Located conveniently close to most hotels in the downtown area, it is only a short walk even on a cold winter night. If you haven't tried Britts before....I highly recommend it!

I ordered the buttermilk chicken i think it was called and omg, it was the best tasting chicken ive ever ordered. If i go out to eat again i will definitely consider this as an option. It was ok priced, maybe on the higher side but i definitely thought it was delicious. It would be nice if they have a special drink or something on sundays because we would have been more tempted to spend more on drinks.

Originally we picked this Pub for its name ( daughters name Britt)
It was amazing so much food. Very flavourful and staff was amazing friendly knowledgeable and gave us fun tips for ST John and surrounding area
Would highly recommend this place for breakfast ( went for late breakfast-breakfast menu ends at 1130 but do have all day breakfast items ). When we were leaving it was filling up for lunch ( was during burger week) that menu looked amazing as well good selection of craft beers
Art on the wall was fun vibrant and playful
Drop in for a pint or food you will not be disappointed

Usually always head to Britt's Rockwood and have always been very happy with the food and service. We went to Princess street location and were very disappointed with both the service and the meal.
I ordered smokehouse burger with caeser (up charge) and a order of kettle chip nachos. The burger was good but the salad was hot to the touch and you could see the welting of the lettuce as soon as the plate was put in front of me. Given the time it took to receive our food I can only assume it sat under heat lamp or some sort of warmer. The nachos were chewy and clearly had been sitting around for a while. needless to say the burger was the only item to be completely eaten.
I surprised the wait staff didn't ask how are food was as it was apparent it was not good given the little amount that was eaten.
Covid has tough me one thing I can make food just as good for a fraction of the price. It will be while before I can justify spending lots of money on poor food quality.
Step your game up.

Had a family meal here.
Service was fair, good tunes and toilets and restaurant are clean. Nice murals decorate the walls. Chilled vibe.
Fish and chips was ok - lobster roll was good quality, but I’d say avoid the chicken Tacos they had hardly any chicken in them mostly batter. Fries weren’t great. Dessert chocolate moose cake was good, cheesecake was ok.
Nothing terrible but wouldn’t be rushing back.

I have had good food here in the past, but on Saturday the food was very poor, absolutely terrible for the price!
My wife and I ordered the simplest breakfast.. She eggs and bacon, Me Eggs and fishcakes.
Although the plate was hot, the eggs and hashbrowns were NOT, the fishcake was very hot and the bacon warm. My eggs, sunny side up, were burnt on the bottom to makes things worse. The eggs and hashbrowns obviously sat on the plate for some time before the bacon and fishcakes... very poor for a $35 breakfast for two!
The coffee was very good, but not likely to return.

While we zipped into Britts on Princess Street for breakfast on Hallowe'en Day and our server was dressed as the most fetching witch, the breakfast delivered to our table was low-mediocre to bad. My over easy eggs were cold and congealed, bacon etc barely lukewarm. Now this was NOT "a cheap and cheerful breakfast", it was pricey. But what we were served was not even an attempt at good food.. Cold and uncared for.....as if we weren't paying for it. The sides of coffee and toast were excellent. The service was fine. The rest barely a pass. Shame on you kitchen.

Eggs Benedict had gf white hamburger bun. Eggs done medium but were dry and hard. Fries were overdone and too crunchy and shriveled. Hollandaise was good but lost on the yucky bun. I emailed and got a response, but surprised there was no compensation. I feel I wasted my money and would not go back unless they change gf bread to better brand.

A couple of friends and I drove up to St. John for the day and chose your eatery for lunch. It took a good 15 minutes before anyone came to the door to seat us and then another 15 minutes before anyone took our order. Then began a 1 1/2 wait for us to receive our meals. Eventually 3 meals were brought out, one was the wrong one. When I told the waiter the order was wrong he was rude to me. That meal was taken back and another 10 minutes later my friend’s food was brought to him.
We were extremely hungry by then because all we had was beer and brunch was now turning into a 3:30pm late late lunch.
My burger was cold and the cheese was congealed like it had been sitting out under a warming light for a while. But we ate quickly because we were very hungry.
They told us it took so long because all the tickets went in at the same time, whatever that means. There are plenty of other places to eat in St. John. Never again.

Excellent experience with Britts Uptown! I called to see if there was a quiet spot and if it was busy so I could do a FaceTime date with my girlfriend as she lives away. They were able to accommodate perfectly. They asked if I was the one who called and I was able to sit in the restaurant side all by myself, the waitress only spoke to take my order and would pop in here and there with a simple thumbs up to see if I was doing okay! They were very respectful and very accommodating.
Food was superb, the pulled pork burger was awesome, a little messy but that’s to be expected. BBQ chicken kettle chip nachos were delicious, the sauce they use tastes awesome! The poutine was great, not too salty, plenty of gravy but fries cooked well enough to not get soggy!
10/10 service, zero complaints about the food!

I rated 4/5 for the service & the beer. Food was mixed reviews. Hubby’s PB & J burger was awesome ( although he got wrong fries but they did comp correct fries after), I had tofu burger… the apple slaw was nice, fries were dreadful, cold, grey and flavourless. Child 1 had fried chicken & fries- meh. Child 2 had fried pickles (delicious) and garlic mash (dry). Britt’s house ale is delicious!! Highly recommend.

When dinning here, expect a modern gastropub atmosphere in a beautiful, heritage building (5/5). Service is friendly and of average speed (4/5).
I went here for Chop Chop lunch, tried their Pulled Jackfruit Sandwich. As with most of their newer menu ideas, it showed evidence of creativity. The pickled onions, the peanuts, the bao bun, and spiced fries... are all interesting and, on paper, sound like a home run. The chef didn't pull any punches while pulling the jackfruit (yes, you should cringe)
Dispite these good ideas, the dish that was served to me wasn't well executed. The jackfruit had a decent BBQ taste, but it wasn't trendmendoisly flavorful and I couldn't taste the seasame. The bao bun was a great idea, but it being quite doey as they are, helped to "dilute" the already mild flavour of the jackfruit (4/5). The biggest disappointment were the fries. They had spice to them, but they were dense, starchy, and many where not crunchy at all. They didn't feel like they had been double fried, or maybe not soaked in water. (2/5)
Britt's has chefs with obvious potential, and sometimes they really hit a home run. The frequent plant-based options are always welcomed in the gastropub scene. But sometimes, like in this case, the execution for great ideas doesn't create something better than the sum of its parts; and that is, arguably, the entire point of gastronomy.

Had this monster of a burger: the Southern Fried Tofu.
The burger is loaded with creative, tasty elements! The colslaw had a mild heat to it, the pickles added an acidic element, and the breading, which actually stayed on the tofu, was very crispy with a definite herbaceousness. Some people may be slight put-off by a mild bitter taste from the breading, but I though it wasn't enough to be distracting.
With so many great elements, this burger should be absolutely amazing... but it just barely misses it. The flavours of each part are quite subtle, and it was honestly a little hard to pick them up when biting into it as a whole. For example, I only noticed the heat from the slaw when I ate it alone. I would almost say it would be slightly improved in a deconstructed burger. While very good, I didn't find it to be better than the sum of its parts (4/5).
They were out of Britt's Brew, but I tried another beer after consulting with our knowledgable server (4/5).
We sat on the very well heated patio. You may be tempted to avoid it on a cool fall day, but they keept the heaters blazing (5/5).

Visiting with 5 other, and we shared apps, and each enjoyed our meals. My dish, a beef "stew" was fabulous! The interior decor, bright and modern, a pleasant surprise from exterior look. Has a nice patio out back. We didn't have to wait for our meal and our server was highly responsive to our questions/requests. I'm visiting from the States, but I would return to Britts on a subsequent visit.
You can have pub food/munchies or a full dinner.
